Reminds me a bit of Luke training with Yoda on Dagobah in ESB, I loved this scene which in itself was a callback between Luke and Obi-Wan on the Millennium Falcon. I liked it, probably while training helps with flexibility and movement. Love seeing the evolution of Jedi training the more things change, the more they stay the same.

It’s good. Like so much on the show it’s new but familiar.

I thought the cut of the shirt is very reminiscent of the tank top Like wears while training with Yoda. What gives it a far away sci-fi look is the very pronounced horizontal texture on the fabric Luke’s shirt is made from.

Here Sabine’s shirt looks more liked it’s made out of current workout clothing material. But the trim being a different color and other details still give it a fantasy look. And the for bottoms she’s wearing more like karate pants or what Ahsoka wears.

As for posts above about sex appeal. This series visually is all about well tailored pants and showing little skin. It’s modest and can be sexy, but it’s not primarily going for sexy.

Her outfit jarred me out of the story. Her pants and shirt looked like something I might see at the gym in the real world, rather than the costumes we usually see in Star Wars.

I enjoyed Epsiode 3 and am looking forward to more. If I had to rate it, it isn't as good for me as MANDO Season 1 and 2, but given that I LOVED MANDO Season 1 and 2 that is a high bar. I am not going to bring this up every time I post (am thinking this is the last time!) but I still feel they haven't done quite enough for those of us who haven't seen REBELS and/or CLONE WARS. It's not that I can't follow the current story - the story is pretty simple - it's that I feel they have done almost literally nothing to fill in backstory. It's a judgment call and I am not, I don't know, offended or angry about it, just saying that for me and people like me, these characters people are mostly what we've seen of them in this series, so... there isn't the emotional connection. To take an easy example, to me, Sabine is a reasonably likeable character, kinda comes off as a pouty "rebel". I had someone explain her backstory yesterday, and wow there is a lot there, some pretty dark amazing stuff. I am NOT saying the show needs to slow down and somehow do a complete REBELS/CLONE WAR info dump. I am just saying that they seem to have gone the other way, and decided to offer NOTHING. For better or worse that is what it is, and that informs how I see the show.

And keep in mind - I am enjoying it even so. Which is pretty impressive!

I did have a couple of...quibbles? And compliments?

Loving the music - sounds very "STAR WARS" to me - and love the look of the series...it looks very STAR WARS and not just that, movie-quality SW.

The training scene didn't quite work for me, although I loved the holograms showing where Sabine's sword strikes had landed. I get that Sabine is rusty, but if she and Ahsoka trained before, none of what was happening this episode should have been new, right? It should all have been rehash? This was beginner stuff. But it didn't seem that way. Also, I would have liked to have seen Ahsoka do a BIT of teaching. And yes, I DO know you could point to the similar scene in ANH and ask why THAT didn't "bother me". But here, knowing how frustrated Sabine already was, knowing that she has been told she's basically the least talented potential trainee ever and such, I felt that having her put on the helmet and just walking around poking her wasn't doing much but adding to her frustration. I would have liked to have seen Ahsoka talk more (between pokes) and explain HOW you "reach out", what you can do to get the right mindset, etc.

I guess the closest parallels to what the New Republic is going through might be post-WW2 Germany or Japan, and there is no question that this situation is tough but boy they are, to me, less making it look less like a tough situation and more like the NR is just inept. This seems to be a recurring theme, touched on in MANDO and now here. If that is the intent, okay I guess but I find it pretty unsatisfying that after ROTJ a bunch of inept people took over. And it's a weird message. It's like they've chosen, in the PT and the ST and now here to focus on periods of ineptitude, bureaucracy, corruption, stagnation and naivety. Democracy doesn't come off looking too good in the SW universe. You can almost understand why "The Client" in Mando wanted to make the case that the NR era's danger and chaos and ineptitude hadn't made life any better for many people (and let me emphasize, yes, I know, he's a fan of heavy handed dictatorial rule!).

As noted above - I love that the show "looks and feels like STAR WARS", and I felt that the space sequences and dog fights were movie-level in appearance. I found it kinda weird that Shin and Marok were in fighters, as if waiting on Ahsoka. I guess I can rationalize that after what happened on Corellia they were expecting trouble but it still seemed odd to me. And while I get that they were going for - that Ahsoka and Sabine needed to start cooperating, and that Sabine was rusty - I felt like the "dog fight" didn't have as much of a sense of threat as it should. And I don't get why the baddies wasted time trying to shoot Ahsoka on the spacecraft exterior when they had the entire rest of the ship essentially defenseless, to target.

But overall, a good episode, and I am looking forward to next week!

I actually think her pants are based off Samurai pants in that scene.

I definitely think we can sort of see that Filoni is following Favreau's lead in trying to keep the script simple and sort of avoiding the more conventional exposition scenes that he put in the cartoons, which is combining with the decompression of the story to push what exposition we do get a bit further out then usual.

It's not interfering with the "skeleton" of this narrative, and yes, too much exposition could be bloated or distracting... but sometimes just briefing a character on backstory really does help a lot, and if you can do flashbacks or other visual stories well, it can help immensely is paced right.

For instance, it might have been cool if we'd seen another, larger mural from Sabine that the camera panned over while Clancy Brown was giving his speech to give a bit more background to her, Lothal, Ezra, and others, or something.

    Things I like so far....

many of the characters, Hera, Sabine, Ahsoka, Baylan and Shin.
The look of it all. The shipyard was great as were the interiors of the ships and Sabines home.

    Things I don't like...

    Jedi training droid.
Purgills. That's more Star Trekky to me.
And the introduction to Jacen was lame. 'I want to be a Jedi!' Yes, just shove that down the viewers throat right away. I mean let the audience get to know him a bit and show us why he does. The last episode was less than 30 minutes, they could have done more.

The outfit was fine , but on rewatch I felt that I could have done without the training scene entirely. We've seen this whole thing in Star Wars way too many times before, and it wasn't exactly exciting or interesting. Maybe if it had lasted half as long as it did, I would be fine with it. Then again, the most boring episode in Clone Wars Season 7 to me was the one where Ahsoka trains with the troopers.

Showing people in "sexy" attire (whatever that means for anyone) is not necessarily sexualizing a character. Anakin should have asked for permission to sleep without a shirt I guess, just in case viewers think he's sexy, god forbid. Last time I checked this is 2023 not 1950

Well, I did say it was boring to me.
    Not necessarily for everyone else.

I just didn't have any interest in watching the same procedure being repeated throughout the episode to get the point. By far the most forgettable episode of the season for me.

There's nothing wrong with it anyway even if it is in my opinion. We all want to look at attractive people on the screen. I'm cool with a bit here and there. Leia as slave girl for eg. It sells and it works. I of course don't want the entire show or film to be like that. And as long as the eye candy can act, all is good with me.

Hard to win on this kind of thing. Don’t include enough training scenes, and fans complain about characters insta-learning. Include extended training scenes, and fans find them derivative or boring. I thought this one was different enough, given the more dojo feel to it and the inclusion of Huyang, that it struck a good balance between showing the progression of skills while not rehashing.

Just for the heck of it I rewatched the Younglings arc from TCW, where we first met Huyang.

I was wondering on the slim possibility that one of those younglings could emerge in this series. Granted more eyes will roll considering yet another Jedi survived through Order 66 and was living through the OT era, but I don't think it would be the worst thing in the world.

    This is not comprehensive enough.

If the training is similar to previous training scenes it is derivative and uncreative.

If the training is dissimilar to previous training scenes, the writers are guilty of disrespecting canon and going against how Jedi have been trained before.

I hear and appreciate both of your inputs and the bits and pieces of sarcasm in them, but I would never complain about something like that not being canon, and I didn't say anything is derivative personally. I just got bored in the Clone Wars episode, and mildly bored during the quite unnecessarily extensive scene between Ahsoka and Sabine last week. It didn't ruin anything for me, I just didn't care for it. I don't think it offered anything to the episode or the story. It could have been a much shorter scene, and deliver the same message.

Ahsoka seems to have picked up a few lightsabers over the years. The top ones look to be the training aids Huyang was using but looks like another 6 single bladed and I may be wrong but looks like 2 Temple Guard sabers on the bottom.
