Gaming Star Wars: Battlefront (2015) & Battlefront 2 (2017) [Mod Approved]

It should be a no-brainer on the marketing department to allow for a free weekend following each DLC expansion release. As I've suggested in prior posts, talk is cheap. Youtube videos and even reviews are relatively worthless. Let me be the judge if I like these new modes or not.

 

I agree. Especially considering their return policy is utterly draconian. They should allow a play before you ply option for every DLC.

I was merely pointing out that the time frame of one month after introduction for a free trial may or may not be standard being there was another influence (May the 4th) at play when they held the OR free trial.

 

My attempts to role play as different types of soldiers did not last long. Too many people play Battlefront as if they're playing Call of Duty.

I'm still waiting for a mode where I can just freely explore all the maps on my own so I can just take in the graphics and all the sounds. At his moment though, you can't even play the Outer Rim DLC private matches which is incredibly disappointing. Battlefront hurts my soul so damn much.

 

I have yet to play a private match over any map or mode. I'd like to try it on Jakku especially.

 

I'd love to be able to walk the maps without a battle going on. I'm certain quite a few people would as well. I've definitely seen people say that over at EA's forum at least. The maps are so good looking, it's a shame you can hardly pay attention to them when actually playing.

 

There's a Youtube video where a player finds a safe spot on the Jakku map allowing you to watch as the Star Destroyer crashes into the background.

So a fan made battlefront 3 is apparently going onto Steam. They've posted a legal response as to how they plan to avoid take down -

...hmmmm. I'm sorry I want this content as much as the next person but this won't happen. It's a stunt. Their "legal standing" is an absolute joke. Even if for whatever reason Disney was like ehhh who cares EA is notoriously vicious with its take downs. Guarantee they will not stand having a free to play version of their game out there on steam, free or not.

 

Honestly, EA knows this is the Battlefront fans always wanted. Not the one they gave us. Looks like a lot of time and effort went into creating this game. But I have to agree with Andrew, their legal standing is pathetic. Do you really think EA will allow this game to stay open because its free? Heck no.

I just hope I can get my copy before that happens

This team has no chance, it's clear they haven't even consulted a lawyer. The fact that they plan to make it freely available offers no protection from copyright law, this precedent was already set with My Little Pony: Fighting Is Magic and the fan attempts at remaking Resident Evil 2 that seem to happen every single year. Fair use and 'parody' clauses do not help these projects. If Disney or EA choose to do so then they can legally come down upon this project like the wrath of god.

Curiously Valve hasn't commented on the issue and there's no trace of this on Steam yet, so there's nothing to go off of here except the developer's word and an easily faked store page screenshot. I honestly don't see Valve wading into something that's so legally problematic, and potentially expensive, for them.

 

Yea I hope they take the advice the people on Reddit gave them. It really could cause so many problems for them for something that just isn't worth it.

Everything's been rather quiet lately. Seems people are waiting with bated breath for Bespin. I know I am.

Should be interesting at least after the Outer Rim to see of they approach it the same way with play lists, or if they forget the list and allow players to select for themselves what mode they would like to play. My assumption is that this too will have a playlist. Otherwise I'm not sure how they will populate all the modes.

Also wondering what the new mode will be. Not even a hint so far over at the EA forum. In fact, like I said, been strangely quiet on any and all Bespin info there.

Sad to hear they are nerfing or tweaking explosive shot. While I used to consider it a tad over powered and rarely used it myself, the addition of bacta bomb and bezerker all of a sudden made it a very useful card. The bacta bomb, bezerker, and adrenaline stim combination has made for some very un-killable players, so now explosive shot has become a nice way to balance out all the quick healing bactazerkers.

Finally dlc news, or atleast the start of it. June 21st for season pass holders and July 5th for those without.

 

So Bespin on the 21st and a week later Lego TFA... Gonna be an amazing few weeks for SW gaming for me!

If it's only 3x XP, that doesn't boost your credits any more than usual.
