Gaming Star Wars: Battlefront (2015) & Battlefront 2 (2017) [Mod Approved]

In retrospect, you wonder what the intention was to have the Battlefront reboot focus on the OT, while the primary market they were aiming for (Millennials and younger) really grew up with the PT movies and of course TCW. It would've made sense to start with that era, then follow up with the OT era in the sequel.

That's a smart idea. I never bought the season pass; nor bought the Outer Rim DLC. I would like to try out the new maps/modes. Honestly, the Hutt contracts don't necessarily interest me that much.

I've been on the fence with the newer Battlefront for a while. I've picked other games in fact instead of it even though I do enjoy what DICE set out to do with recapturing that feeling and all that. I prefer stuff with a decent single player aspect to it. So I don't do too many multiplayer games or online MMOs for that matter. Given, I did play Jagex's Transformers Universe while it was still in Beta (Both closed and public) and did like it. I skipped out on TOR even though it's in an era that I've otherwise enjoyed in the past for SW. I am considering purchasing this Battlefront to give it a whirl, but looking at the prices of the game and season pass it just gives me a feeling of "nope" to it. I see it as it's like buying the game twice and all that. The DLC thing while I typically view it rather favorably, is just a really bad model in this case. Kinda reminds me of the announcement that Netherealm studios about making the Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition available for XBox-One and PS4 only and no distribution to the PC. The one thing appealing about Battlefront is the Hero Matches. They seem like they could be an improvement over Battlefront 2's (rather flawed I felt) hero system.

 

But otherwise you get too many Jedi especially base game.

 

Well Padme would only appease for the token-female crowd. If it's just about blasters/non-force users they could probably include a protagonist Clone like Rex or Cody. Nute Gunray? Seriously? lol.

 

I would play the **** out of Padme. Sorry but if Ahsoka got in before Padme, I would be pissed.

What would be the draw with Padme? Would she be running over to hug and kiss Anakin whenever they'd meet on the battlefield?

 

Huh? That's a really strange minimization of Padme's role in SW. I get that you like Ahsoka -- I do too -- but Padme was the queen of a planet, mother of the Skywalker twins, and overall badass.

What would the draw be? Getting to play as ****ing Padme.

 

But throughout the movies she was more frequently behind the scenes at the Senate hearings. Only in TCW did we see her really getting her hands dirty. Leia was Princess of Alderaan, but even she was running around with Luke, Han, Chewie, and the droids throughout the OT.

 

I guess we saw different movies, then.

But what about her freeing Naboo? Or battling on Geonosis? She's just as proactive as Leia is.

 

Well if she were included in the game, I'd assume she'd be wearing one of the pants outfits she was running around in.

 

Already maxed out everything...waiting on the next expansion. Getting bored lol. So glad they are making another one though.

 

I'd bet on the white outfit. The other one (pilot outfit) was only worn during the opening scene of Ep II.

 

There's also this costume, which she wore briefly on Tattooine when she met kiddie Anakin.

 

I'm just trying to imagine what the text will read whenever Padme is defeated in battle.
"Padme Amidala has lost the will to live"
"Padme Amidala has died of a broken heart"

 

Ugh don't get me started on the "lost the will to live" remark.

 

It never has bothered me. People lose the will to live all the time, they break down and kill themselves.

Just today somebody almost jumped onto a road, and it had to be closed for several hours. The local shopping centre has now got barrier fences to prevent jumping.
That's life.

Padmé has seen her livelihood destroyed, the entire position she works for has changed to something she doesn't like (Empire), her husband has turned against her and she knows he's killed, not just adults, children.
Yeah she has just given birth to twins but at that point her world has broken down irreparable. Even they can't stop/ heal her.

If you were in her position would you act differently? It's easy to say yes but really would you?


What's more interesting is that the droids can understand slightly but they still can't really fathom it.

 

There's an awesome theory that Palpatine was sapping away Padme's life in order to keep Vader alive.

Anyway there's also the outfit Padme wore during the Battle of Naboo. Pretty awesome half skirt/pant thing.

Side note: for the sake of everyone, can we keep movie bias out of this thread?

Committing suicide is one thing. That's a serious issue that doesn't need to be explained. But Padme was giving birth; otherwise perfectly healthy. What was she suffering from that she wouldn't accept any healing?

 

Losing the will to live. Her mental state.

 

If it was a product of Anakin's choking, that's something I could understand. But only her mental state killed her? To me that's pretty vague.

My great aunt died because she lost the will to live. It is actually a thing. She was in a lot of pain for s long time and she died. Not from any particular thing, but her will gave out.

I promise, it's a thing. And because it's challenging to understand, it is not automatically bad.
