    Question:
Something we'd really like to see in Battlefront 2 is an advanced clan and stat system. Is this something that's going to be included?

    Answer:
Another thing we got from the community is the desire to have improved functionality for communicating and playing with their friends. In Battlefront 2, we'll be introducing many new features that will help people quickly find their friends and play with them online. We are also working on taking that notion a step further to incorporate a system that groups of players can use to organize their Battlefront clans. We will also be enhancing and/or adding persistent stat tracking for people who play.

    Question:
Design elements like needing both pilot and a gunner in a snowspeeder on Hoth in order to take down AT-ATs was fantastic and really encouraged teamwork in the original. Do you have more elements like this planned for the sequel, and if so could you outline a couple for us?

    Answer:
We definitely will have new craft that support the ability for multiple people to work together that will(when executed well)create a more menacing and powerful unit. Sticking to the space idea, people could get in a transport that moves more slowly but carries a group of people. By itself, or with two people, it has little protection. But add a few others to man various guns and it gives it a much better chance to reach its destination. There are a few cool weapons from Episode 3 that lend themselves well to team play in vehicles which we'll be happy to chat about very soon!

    Question:
How have the game modes and in-game objectives changed? And how will this relate to the single player game?

    Answer:
In multiplayer, we will be adding objective-based gameplay modes to give more variety to the type of multiplayer experiences people can have while playing Star Wars Battlefront 2 online or splitscreen with their friends.
Single player is definitely one of our top priorities with this game. The team has been working diligently in making sure to deliver a solid, compelling single-player experience. Many new features have been created specifically to enhance this area of the game. One of the many things they've been doing is incorporating objectives into the gameplay. This will help give better context to what the player is doing in the mission and will help in conveying the bigger story we are trying to tell this time around.
At the same time, though, we use the objectives in such a way so that, although it will be clear to the player what they need to do and why they are doing it, we'll still be giving them the freedom to play it any way they want.

    Question:
Given that single player is a significant priority for the sequel, what steps will be taken to improve the AI? We felt that the AI in the original's single player game was probably one of its weaker aspects.

    Answer:
A better AI system is definitely a necessity in order for us to deliver on the enhanced single-player experience that we are looking to deliver for Battlefront 2. AI has been getting sigificant attention thus far, and we definitely saw the need to make the AI more robust and exciting for Battlefront 2. Plus, the addition of a more objective-based experience during Battlefront 2 meant we needed to give the AI the ability to do more than just take and defend command posts. They now need to think about the strategy for the current objective(s) and react to them as well as react to what the player is doing, whether the AI is the enemy or the player's ally.
Also, the objective-based system, as mentioned earlier, is an important addition to the game. A simple example of this would be where the clone army must secure the landing platform and then fight off CIS attack until the consulate's ship can flee to safety.

    Question:
There are still significant differences between PC and console gaming, not least in terms of input devices and gaming cultures. How difficult is it to create a game with unified design that will work on both consoles and PC? And how much time is spent tw

Love the news on the single player objectives! I wonder where the example of the clones having to hold a landing platform from the cis is?

Yes, but do I have to complete the objective? If I fail, are you going to throw up a "misson lost" screen and just blow me out of that battle?

If you look at objective based Multiplayer games, like say UT2004 - Assault or Jedi Academy - Siege, there's usual a linear sequence of objectives to complete, with one team attacking, one team defending; a basic objective sequence, for example, one team has to defend a reactor while the other team attempts to blow it up, will run along the lines of "Defend First Line", "Defend Second Line", "Defend Outer Door", "Defend Inner Door", "Defend Reactor", with the destruction of the reactor resulting in sucess for the assaulting team (and each completed objective will throw the defending teams spawn point back so they're closer to the new defense objective); the teams will then switch, and the defending team will subsequently lose if they fail to complete the same objectives faster than the previous assaulting team.

    Thanks for the response.

Ok. I guess I go back to my earlier posts. Do I have to play objective? Will instant action have a command post centered 1-player like BATTLEFRONT?

Because if I have to do the same objectives on a level EVERY TIME I play that level, it will kill this game for me. The replay value will be lost. If I want objectives, I'll buy Republic Commando. If they want to beef up Galactic Conquest or Story Mode - fine. But give me my anarchy in Instant Action. My true value and enjoyment is from MY OWN objectives, not the game forcing me into monotony.

The command post system made Battlefront unique. It allowed for unlimited replay for anyone with a imagination and a desire to try new things. Take away its uniqueness, and it is just another shooter - it really takes away its beauty.

I've got a bad feeling about this...

i can't remember who said it, but they said that Battlefronts command post gameplay is unique, it is not, it is stolen from Battlefield 1942/Vietnam.

Also, I think it would be better to have an option to order your ai-teammates to attack certain targets, set them as a priorety, like in Republic Commando, i was playing earlier, and all the ai were just killing normal droids, and not the group of 5 droiddekkas (sp) killing them all.

The interview makes it sound like the objective-based missions will be a separate mode from the instant action style command post missions. It will be interesting to see if they have an objective mode and a standard mode for each map, or whether they'll separate the game into two halves.

Any idea on when it may come out? I know it's quite early, and I would suspect Fall/Winter, but I'm just curious.

Great news about new Clones; I love the new look. Maybe now the ARC will carry dual pistols? That'd be nice. And the addition of Jedi will be fun, but lets hope they're not unstoppable gods; they have to have some weakness. I know it'll be very satisfying to take out a Jedi with an ARC or something of the sort.

That brings up another question; it's obvious that Clones become Stormtroopers, so at some point will the Clones become the bad guys in the game? That'd be fun. :)

Also, big thanks to Master-Of-Evil for typing that up; it's much appreciated. :)

a new battlefront would be an awesome feature, i mean with like a battle against the trade federation with the naboo in episode 1 which is air, then you can also be the gungans, wookies, naboo, alliance, empire, trade fed, republic, and confederacy AS THEIR OWN CIVILATIONS and you dont just right from the beggining fight i mean like galactic battlegrounds or something but with ALOT MORE PEOPLE i mean like at least 500 or so....

could you tell me more about the game??? like how many units you can have on the field at once??? or how much reinforcements you can have..... i really think though that each should have its own civilization, or at least a new mode for that or something, then there could be story mode, galactic conquest, ect. and then have campaigns like in galactic battlegrounds or something similar to that at least....

I would not by this game unless they had a land Coruscaunt level. This is a must!! Imagine At-Te's marching down the street opening fire on Droid tanks! I love this environment and I would love it so much! Your flying and ARC-170 in and out of the buildings and a squad of Vulture droids is on your tail! THis is an absolut must.

    Hardly.

Ever spent a whole gaming shooting Gungans? Or just hiding in the bushes on Endor sniping Ewoks? Or try loading up the bazooka and hanging on the Kashyyyk beach taking out walker after walker for 10 minutes?

Sure, if you play every time as soldier and do command post capture and play 'objectives' - it is boring.

But if you break out from kill em all mode, it has endless replayability -

Agreed Hudnall, it's replayability is a big strength like BF1942. Now that you mention it, I should try playing a whole game just killing Gungans!

i agree with the above. On Kashyykk (sp) Beaches I'm always a sniper, go onto the suspended houses thingy, and average 60 kills a go, with about 3 deaths. I hope they give the clones better sniper rifles though, with two zoom modes instead of one.

Man I missed alot, I hate being banned. I can't wait for BF2 a Coruscant level would be awsome. I'd like some defend the base sort of missions. Did they say in that article how many space battles there will be?
