Star Wars: Choose Your Own Adventure Series

Yes, those books do exsist, they're some of my all time favs! Anyone else have or read them? Its ANH, ESB, and ROTJ. You, as in the reader are thrust into the Rebel Alliance, and become a Jedi alongside Luke Skywalker.

Another quickie, are CYOA's allowed on this site? I'm a huge writer of those.

 

I'm none too familiar with CYOA books nor fics on the boards here. How would you propose to do this?

 

ui read the ESB one. yeah that would be cool if someone could do that. but it would be really REALLY hard i think.

I've heard of them. I was a great fan of the CYOA books when I was a kid (dear gods, the memories!) but I've never read the SW ones. Wish I had, though.

They aren't not allowed. And I would love to see what you've written.

However, posting a CYOA here is going to be difficult because the IGN boards don't have the <a name="postnumber"> tag. (Minor gripe: we would have had them if we moved to vBulletin. Grr.) Of course, you could try to find a Manager (i.e., someone whose powers include the ability to post HTML markups) who is willing to post your fic for you. But I wouldn't recommend it.

One way to pull it off would be to link directly to the posts (http://boards.theforce.net/Message.aspx?topic=threadnumber&start=postnumber) and then have the reader Ctrl-F to the chapter heading. However . . . there's a board glitch that, if you link to the first post on a page, the boards will direct you to the page before it. It's simple to work around, but it's still a nuisance.

PS: As far as I know, a CYOA fic has only been attempted once:
Choose You Own Adventure ESB (You play as Luke Skywalker!)

There are others that call themselves "Choose Your Own Adventure", but those are really "The Readers Choose What Happens Next" fics.

 

There are two other books that only came out here in the UK - Jedi Dawn and The Bounty Hunter. Both are by Paul Cockburn. They are billed as the Lost Jedi Adventure Game. You play as Havet Storm, a young outcast with Jedi powers. Along the way you encounter Boba Fett (quite a few times) and other characters. The books occasionally come up in the Amazon UK Marketplace but are otherwise very hard to find. I managed to find the first in a sci-fi shop (which has since closed) and the second on Amazon.
