Since Lucas loves to get everyone confused and call two separate TV series essentially the same thing.

In case of further confusion I am talking about the Genndy Tartakovsky series from 2003-05.

    Link

I am wondering why no one is mentioning this Animated Clone Wars show ever coming to Blu Ray? We have two seasons, and a movie, of The Clone Wars now on Blu Ray, but not the old Clone Wars. I find it a bit odd and am wondering if anyone knows the reason or of a possible release of these. Some of us would like to complete our collection.

May the Force be With You.

In all reality? This might sting a bit.

They just forget about this now to be honest. There is a 1% chance this will get converted to blu-ray. They are focused on TCW now, Live Action show, Star Wars(6 films) on blu-ray and Star Wars 3D.

I would be absolutely interested thrilled to pick it up on Blu-Ray.
Volume 2 is the only one I have on DVD and Volume 1 went out of print pretty quickly and costs too much nowadays.

A Blu-Ray which combines both volumes onto one disc with all the extra would be excellent and the least they could do to honor Genndy Tartakovsky's great work.

Besides, to me the first two seasons are prequels to TCW. Grievous is revealed, Asajj Ventress is introduced, seen being taught by Dooku and faces off Anakin for the first time. All pivotal moments.

Frankly, it's all a bit confusing. They introduced Asajj and she was taught by Dooku, so part of Clone Wars is a prequel, and part of it a sequel because the end episode is where Revenge of the Sith begins. They really should have called The Clone Wars something different and not done this time frame jumping around. It just goes to show they are only making these shows to milk the franchise. I am happy with The Clone Wars CG show, but they really should have called these two shows something different to separate them more easily.

I am lucky enough to have both Volume One and Two on DVD. But, I feel a Blu Ray is necessary. Like I said, the new show already has the movie and first two seasons on Blu Ray, so the old show deserves it as well.

It is interesting because they seem to have just push this show away to be forgotten like it never mattered. If that is the case, then honestly, they shouldn't have made it.

This series has the best battle with Grievous: The Battle of Hypori. I have both volumes, having bought them both used wthin the last two years. Though I don't have Blue-Ray, I would definately support this. Someday, I hope to get a Blue Ray Player and this would be great.

Maybe when TCW is over they'd make a Blu-ray of the good old micro-series, but right now.. I don't think so (even though the current show stole much of its art style from it [face_whistling]). But, who knows?

I love the original CW. Very entertaining. I watch both volumes on the internet since I don't have the DVDs... I really hope LucasFilm release this sometime in the future, maybe along with the Ewoks and Droids cartoons and possibly the old Ewok films and Holiday Special? Hey, I'm a completionist. I too would like to see this, perhaps all in one bluray as suggested above.

I also agree the name similarities really bug me. As much as I hate the idea of changing something like this retroactively, maybe they could rebrand it "Clone Wars Chronicles" or something, like they did with Young Indy. Something so that it's more clear than just the lack of "THE". They wouldn't even have to change the footage, just the bluray case and menu.

    I'd buy it.

But the sad truth is that I think that LF is just butting TCW center stage over any other Star Wars related thing. I'm pretty sure that the 2003 series is a dead topic to them now.

It will probably come out eventually- they have said they intend to release full season sets of Droids and Ewoks eventually, so a rerelease of CW seems inevitable.

Since the microseries was just released a few years ago, and TCW is their #1 priority, I can see why they wouldn't re-release them so soon.

Droids, on the other hand, needs to be released ASAP.

I would think they would want to sweep the 2003 series under the rug.

Why would they want people asking why suddenly a show called 'Clone Wars' is actually about war and not Zero the Hutt's mother. o_O

I do have to admit, the simplistic animation of this show won't benefit from a BD release nearly as much as the current CG show does, but it would still be nice to see. Frankly, you can't understand everything about the clone wars without the microseries, so it's a necessary part of the overall continuity. You get to see introductions for Grievous, Ventress, and Anakin's time as a padawan (then his Knighting). Not to mention Episode III just doesn't feel complete to me without the battle of Coruscant.

I agree about the animation. A Bluray release wouldn't exactly make a world of difference. As I've said before, as long as there are copies of the original DVDs circulating around the internet, this release probably shouldn't be LFL's main priority. Better for them to release something that hasn't been released yet, like the nelvana cartoons or the HS.

Oh they will release it on blue ray at some point. Lucasfilm isn't so dumb that they will pass this up.

    This.

It will come. Maybe when the Saga comes out on Blueray they will get it rushed out also.

If they do, I hope they merge both seasons together into one whole film. They should have done this the first time, instead of releasing them on two seperate dvds, especially knowing this cartoon format would no longer be made.

An Ewoks/Droids BluRay set would be much more timely since the Clone Wars DVDs already look pristine. Fans of TCW who haven't seen the micro-series honestly aren't missing much. The action definitely had its moments, but the story was almost non-existent. Two hours, no plot, already on DVD. Why not just put the DVD back in print?

I think that LFL just wants to bury "Clone Wars". They won't even let Hasbro's "Captain Fordo" be called Fordo since that is his name in the Microseries. So he's just called Arc Captain.

But I agree with the statement, Why just resume the availability of the DVDs. They aren't in HD, so they don't need Blue Ray. I have both DVD (which are worn from years of Mini-Van DVD stomping by three kids) and will still love them. That series told lots of stories and proved to Lucas the feasibility of doing a clone wars project. In fact there are a lot significant Star Wars moments that are reflected in this fairly short show.

    1. Intro of Asajj
    2. Intro of Grevious
    3. Anakin's Knighting
    4. C3PO's Gold Plating
    5. Padme gives R2D2 to Anakin
    6. Intro of Commander Cody
    7. Intro of V-19 clone fighter
    8. Anakins face scare
    9. Anakin get a new arm (they evidential changed between Ep2 & 3)
    10. Anakin's trial of the 'spirit'
    11. A first look of any depth on several Jedi's (not counting EU books) such as KiAdi, ShakTi, Fisto, Mace, Luminara and SaSeTin.

I don't want to de-rail this thread into a continuity post, but I agree. I see this DVD going the way of the Droid / Ewoks DVDs. Basically being "forgotten". Mostly because the TCW series is re-writing some of the "canon" in the 2003 series.

I really love how they introduced General Grievous in this series. It was from that introduction that had me on edge for ROTS! I also liked how that series went right into ROTS (Mace Windu / General Grievous fight). However back to continuity: the book Labyrinth of Evil contradicts the 2003 series, and I'm sure they will have their own connection to ROTS when TCW series actually ends.

Back to the topic though, I just don't see the Blu-ray happening. And for those who don't have the DVD at least, make sure to pick it up as it will probably become a collectors item!

It almost seems like some of you want the micro-series to be forgotten. It will see a Blu Ray release...mark my words. I think even at the time it was partially seen as half fable and tall tale based on real events so it really gets in the way of nothing that is canon.

    A 10th anniversary edition perhaps.

I sure hope this is released in blu ray eventually. The series is essentially a prequel to the animated series that is getting loads more attention.
