    Star Wars: Infinities
Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith

Dooku falls at the feet of Anakin Skywalker and looks desperately into the eyes of the young Jed, who now holds both lightsabers, one in each hand. The Count looks back down at the severed stubs that were once his hands, then slowly gazes up back to Anakin, a look of shock and of horrible realization taking residence upon his facial features. The blades hum softly, leveled at the count?s throat.

?Good, Anakin! Good!? Chancellor Palpatine congratulated. Obviously relieved, the Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic looked gleefully at his friend, then beheld the form of the kneeling Seperatist leader.
?Kill him,? Palpatine said plainly, the smile slowly fading from his lips.
Anakin jerked his head to look at Palpatine, who returned Anakin?s attention with a compassionless stare as cold as stone.
    ?Kill him now.?
Anakin sighed and ground his teeth together, letting out a small wince. ?I shouldn?t.?
The Chancellor glared at Skywalker now, eyes intent and purposeful.
    ?Do it!?
Anakin spared a glance down to face the still quite terrified look from Count Dooku. Anakin could feel the anger, the anger for that face, seething into his veins. This was the man who had cut off his hand, who sent Ventress to kill him, who trained the Jedi-killer General Grievous and continually taunted and had seriously injured Master Obi-Wan Kenobi on more than one occasion. A Sith Lord like Dooku would never repent of his crimes, nor could be allowed to unleash more havoc on the Republic. Everything in Anakin?s mind told him that to kill the Count would be a service to the Republic. Everything in his emotions begged him to cut off the head of this trouble-maker and end this entire war there and now. Everything seemed as though it had been orchestrated perfectly. Anakin Skywalker would become an exalted hero of the Galactic Republic. The Jedi Council would finally acknowledge his abilities and give him the respect that he was due. Everything was perfect.
    Not everything, though.
?Anakin? What are you waiting for? End this!? Palpatine commanded, revealing a bit of desperation within his voice.
?Chancellor, it is not the Jedi way?we never kill our prisoners.?
Palpatine?s face contorted into a look of such intensity that Anakin thought he might lash out at him, ?Nonsense! His crimes are immense! Strike him down and realize your true destiny! You will be made a Jedi Master. I am certain of it, Anakin. The Council will see the wisdom in your actions. You are very wise, Anakin.?
Anakin paused a moment, then took a step back.
?Get up,? Anakin said to the Count.
Dooku slowly rose to his feet, pressing his severed wrists to his chest and hunching over in obvious pain. His eyes flickered back and forth from Anakin?s iron gaze and the Chancellor?s glare of madness.
    ?Anakin! Don?t be a fool!?
Anakin shook his head and sighed heavily, ?Chancellor, I am sorry, but I will not kill an unarmed prisoner?even if it is Count Dooku.?
Palpatine scoffed in disgust and continued his heated protests, ?Ridiculousness, Anakin! Pure foolishness! Idiocy!?
?Perhaps, but my conscience will be clear,? Anakin retorted. Turning back to Dooku, Anakin?s gaze darkened, ?And now, Count Dooku, you will be coming with us to stand trial for what you have done.?
The Count?s face bore no look of defiance, but one of extreme sadness and regret.
?Oh, my young Jedi, my sins are too deep to be forgiven. I have betrayed not only the Republic, the Jedi, and my Masters?but I have betrayed myself as well. There is no future for me, only darkness.?
The Count hung his head as he spoke, then snapped it back sharply and looked intently at Skywalker, ?You have done well, boy. I believe Qui-Gon was correct. I am sorry I underestimated and insulted you for so long. You, not I, are the Chosen One. It is you who must restore balance to the Force.?
Palpatine growled softly as Anakin cautiously disengaged his lightsaber.
?Count, I am not the person who requires your apologies. You owe so

Very good writing, but not much has changed. Dooku is still dead, and Palps can still corrupt Anakin...

But let's see where you take it. :)

But Anakin didn't kill him in anger though that's the difference.
