...yeah, they mention that move briefly on either the first or second mission, but i missed it the first time thru..

It is a pretty cool move, and by far the easiest way to take out laser turrets.

Man I just pick this game up a couple of days ago man is it sweet! It kind of reminds me of a phantom menace/ Jedi power battles mix. (Love those games) I don't know how IGN gave it such a bad rating 4.5 is BS! It should at least get a solid 8.0

Only one complaint is no yoda or sidious in duel section.

But any way that is a sweet game! :)

does anybody know how to do really cool finishing moves in the versus? i was playing as Anakin once and at the end of the fight I picked the guy up and stabbed him through the chest in an overly painful way. It was awesome but I couldnt figure out how I did it.

It took me a bit of a while to get the hang of the finishing moves. Although you can always do the O lunge attack, the others will only work when your opponent's energy is flashing red.

    Here's how to do Anakin's :

    Tap O
    The straightforward twirl-lunge stab.

    Tap O twice quickly
Easiest to pull off during a combo. Anakin picks up his opponent and stabs 'em.

    Hold O
Again, easiest to pull off during a combo. Anakin knocks his opponent face-first to the ground and then stabs them in the back. You MAY need to hammer the O button to make sure he does the back stab...can't quite remember.

Hold R1, then press O (close)
When your opponent is Force-gripped, then press O while still holding R1 down. Anakin forces them to their knees with the Force, sticks his sabre through their chest, then Force-pushes the body away.

Hold R1, then press O (long distance)
Similar to the above...you need to be a fair distance away. This time, Anakin grips them with the Force then basically holds up his lightsabre and yanks them through the air onto the blade.

Obi-Wan uses the same button presses, just with different results. For example, his double-O critical move has him making two big upwards cuts and then stabbing his opponent in the stomach.

drew ^^ thats odd. i find that anakin is killable kinda straightfowardly. i find that killin obiwan with the alternate ending is harder :S and for me. the hardest duel (or the one that took me the most attempts) was dooku. i got throo the rest in about two attempts max. YES i found grievous ok...?!

Really? See, i found Anakin pretty easy to own right up until the very end of the duel (when you're on the hovering platform over the lava). Then, for some reason, Anakin would just whip out that single slash attack that i COULD not seem to block.

As far as the other duels: The only duels that i managed to nail on the first tries were Mace, Anakin-Obi (with you as Anakin) and Cin/Serra (and that one only because i got that health-surge secret bonus RIGHT when i needed it). Dooku i find easy to kill, but i just CANNOT get anything above a "Good" rating on him, no matter how hard i try. Grievous is also tough to get a Master rating on, because beating him involves so much in the way of hit and run tactics.

The absolute toughest duel that i've run into in the game would have to be Grievous-Obi-Wan WHEN you're Grievous. Having nothing but two little bacta tanks to replenish your health, and AFTER taking on a plethora of Battle Droids, SBDs and Clone Troopers (why the heck are the Battledroids after Grievous, by the way?) .. I dunno. I find that Grievous doesn't block Blaster-bolts very well. Always take a beating in the early-going. Never have enough health to take down Obi-Wan at the end.

I hope to buy the game soon. Are the controllers made for the game at all necessary?

No, I have the controllers and it is easier to win the saber lock the default way than to use the special button on the controller.

I'm on the Mustafar assassination mission where Anakin is supposed to kill the Sepratist leaders. Anyway, I'm stuck on a platform where I just killed two of the big Neimoidian warriors and there's a panel that I'm supposed slash and get a catwalk to extend over the lava. Anyway, I only have level 2 saber throw and lighting and it won't reach the panel across the lava. Has anyone else run into this problem? Do I need to go back and replay some levels so I can upgrade to a level 3 saber throw or is there another way to do it?

You will be able to reach it because I only had level 1 saber throw. Make sure you target the panel. Then it is almost a guarenteed(sp?) hit and you will continue. :)

Remember to hold down the button when you throw it, too.

    Which is it, L2 or R2? Can't remember. Think it's L2.

I've been playing the Versus mode a ton. Lots of different combinations. It's funny how they all have some different lines depending on your opponent. Off the top of my head :

Anakin to Ben - "You're not bad...for an old fossil."
Vader to Dooku - "You are no Sith Lord."
Obi-Wan to Ben - "When I'm your age, I'll remember not to have this fight."
Ben to Dooku - "Compared to you, I look positively young!"

...ha, i had Ben tell that "Compared to you, i look positively young!" line when fighting Cin Drallig, too..

Although the best one out of that fight was Ben to Cin: "Let's see what you've been teaching those young padawans."

I liked that too...just because it was cool to hear old Ben (or at least a sound-alike :p) saying "Padawans".

I think Serra gets in a couple zingers about Vader being mechanical as well...

I love all the taunts that the characters spew back and forth in versus. It really adds alot to the game, and just feels like Star Wars (maybe that's why there's no Maul, I mean, what the heck would he say that would be amusing?).

Yes, this game is very cool for the ps2. Its cool to finaly have a good star wars game with light saber action. Especially with all the force powers like lightning.

Did you guys like the duel between Obi-wan and Anakin on Mustafar better when you were playing with Anakin, or Obi-wan?
I thought it was better with Anakin, myself.

Reply back to my question soon.

Anakin's the Jazz! I pick him most of the time, He has the most finesse and show-off style out of all of them.

favourite combo has to be: (for PS2)

move the left stick toward the enemy and press square, triangle, triangle, triangle really fast.

He does that crazy twirling dealy. Vey cool:cool:

Someone bought me ROTS for my birthday [face_dancing]

Its pretty easy (Dooku being the only challenging level I've found) but its a fun game, kind of like Streets of Rage/Golden Axe.

i prefer Anakin in single-player, but in multi-player, i always play as Cin Drallig. If you know how to use him, you can defeat anyone in less than a minute with no damage.

I'd also like to see an expanded versus mode, kinda like Soul Calibur 2/3 with various other characters like Asajj Ventress, Durge, Darth Sidious, maybe some of the Dark Jedi from the Jedi Knight games and even characters from the KOTOR games. Darth Revan versus Darth Vader! w00t!

I think a dedicated lightsabre duelling game would be a favourite with a lot of people. This game has faults, but I love the animation and fighting styles in it...I really hope that knowledge and work put into the combat engine could be used elsewhere by Lucasarts.

Considering this is the first game to actually have input from Gillard, I'd really hope that treat that information like gold dust.
