I'll be bringing a camera even if I don't have a costume. I may just come as the photographer

I concur, a photographer would be excellent, perhaps two? And hopefully these pictures are posted to where anyone can look at them.
Where ever we decide to go, I could talk to a couple of people I know in our local news channels (krem, kxly, & khq) and see if they want to do a story on us geeks for the evening news. I think having a news crew there would help promote the movie as well as the location that we decide. Oh and it would be at night, not in the morning.
What do you guys think, do you want to be on TV in costume? I do. I would have to contact them in advance, so decide we must. (hint hint, bestbuy)

 

TV, yes please also, Erich, if you're not coming in costume and you're just photographing, you should slap on one of our new shirts and wear that! might as well show off our new logo!

 

Good idea, though I'm thinking of making my own.
Now, before you pass out from fright, here's my thought. I want to print the logo with the characters on it and do an iron on transfer. It wouldn't take me long at all.
What do you think?

 

Hold off on that for now, Nat's got a contact that might be able to OK that logo with Lucasfilm for us. So we'd be able to officially use it on our gear. So, before you go maiming my precious new logo, let's see if we can actually use it

 

Has anyone heard from our contact at Best Buy? if we dont here something soon the we will need to choose a new place. I have a few ideas in mind but will hold off saying them until we have confirmation about Best Buy.

 

I am in the process of contacting a 24-hour Wal*Mart. I will speak with the manager tomorrow morning. This is a possible back-up if Best Buy doesn't work out.

ok everyone i personally called Best Buy today and they are NOT going to be open til midnight. so are we going to crash a walmart? if so what one? im open to suggestions

 

Well I just called the valley Wal*Mart and spoke with their manager about us crashing their store. If we want to have a news crew there, I have to contact them (the news guys) and then get back with Wal*Mart, give them the info, and their public relations/media relations personal will then contact the news channel and take care of the rest. Does any one have a certain prefrence as to which news channel covers the story on Star Wars Geeks? Or does anyone have a better location on obtaining the DVD?

 

I'm strongly opposed to doing anything at Mal Wart. I suggest Hastings or Borders or Barns & Noble or some other place specializing in entertainment.

 

Barnes and Noble would be ok with me but i dont want to have anything to do with a Hastings. i would rather crash a walmart

Has anyone looked into contacting either of these mentioned locations? Aside from Wal*Mart and Best Buy? Best Buy is obviously out of the picture. I personally don't care where we go, as long as we all go and it is a midnight release. Other than Wally Mart, these other locations aren't open past 10:00 or 11:00 and I've checked out their future events and none of them have anything listed as far as Star Wars is concerned.
And another thing, does it really matter where we go; odds are we'll be the only ones there and personally I'd prefer to buy this DVD for as cheap as possible. If someone really wants to go to a specific place than make sure that the store is aware of us going there and planning time in advance and notify us on the boards so we know when, where, and how.

 

I just HATE Wal Mart, it represents everything that is wrong with modern society, although, Episode 3 represents everything that is wrong with the Star Wars prequels... hmm... spooky. Wal Mart = teh suck.

 

Okay, enough of the rants. If you don't like a particular place than try to make arrangements at one you do like. Nathan is trying to make an alternate arrangement and has let us know. If you don't like that location then please present another alternative.

OK, MOM... I just don't think Wal Mart is the ideal place to do it. And Casey's got a thing against Hastings, we still need to be aware of these things.

 

i can put up with a hastings but i refuse to go to the one out in the valley or CdA. the one on garland will be fine. altho i agree with Nathan on the cheap as possible for the price.

 

Alright, I called Borders and Barnes & Noble and they are out of the question. That leaves us with the following: the Valley Wal*Mart and any of the local Hastings. Here are the prices: Wal*Mart at $15.87 and Hastings at $23.09. Wal*Mart has another one availabe for $20.87, see links below. We need to decide now where we are going and when. We must be at our destination before 11:00, preferably 10:00 ~ 10:30, if we want to have TV coverage. If not, let me know by Wednesday the 26th.
And refering to John's comment about hating Wal*Mart, big deal, I don't like either place.
Yes, I sound a little assertive, but we need to plan things well in advance AND inform everyone - not the day of or the day before.

Thankyou Nathan for looking that up. Im all for saving as much money as i can and Hastings is too expensive for me at $23. I say walmart in the valley at 10:15. that will give us enough time to get ready.

I say majority vote right now. Everyone has til TOMORROW to say yes or no for Walmart. We need to let the news people know where and when ASAP. So thats Tuesday night by 9:00 PM. if you dont vote by then them im sorry but we are out of time.
