Very disappointed by the single female cast member - though I suspect she'll likely be the Luke/Anakin role in this trilogy.

Peter Mayhew I'm a bit confused about - leaving aside all the EU arguments about Chewbacca being dead, hasn't Mayhew had a hip replacement over the last few years, and now struggles to walk without a cane? How's that going to affect his playing (presumably) Chewie, when it would likely be easier to get someone else to fill that role?

 

Whether or not they're the stars/main characters, they'll certainly be the center of attention for the foreseeable future, fairly or not.

I'm glad there were a couple of surprises in the cast list.I hope that Serkis plays an awesome looking motion capture alien. Must have set pics, now!

I'm very excited for Max and Andy, and i'm very curious to see which roles they play. The younger kids i have no idea about, so look forward to seeing them in action

 

His mobility has rapidly improved over the past few months - he'll be fine for close up shots where we'll see his eyes (a necessary part for Chewie if you ask me), and they can (and will) use someone else for any more action-packed scenes Chewie is in.

Can't quite speculate who Serkis might portray.

 

Whatever Serkis does, it will be awesome. His CGI work is incredible, but his live action performances are fairly impressive in their own right as well.

 

Also, what's up with the limited female cast. I really hope we see more females in the film

I thought about the Mayhew and his troubles walking as well. He was in a wheelchair not that long ago when the TSA took his cane from him as a weapon.
