Wow, Dark Horse wins the license back and then they are trying to sell the company and Disney is looking to buy them out. What a twist!

I am sure most of the smaller publishing companies will get bought out eventually.

To be fair IDW has been doing some amazing work with Star Wars, it's a shame they won't be doing any more.

And Dark Horse was in decline during the last few years after 2010, i hope they bring in their A-game to this.

"The indie comics publisher has agreed to be sold to Embracer Group, the Swedish video game conglomerate. The deal is expected to close in early 2022. [...] Dark Horse CEO Mike Richardson, who founded the company in 1986, will remain at the helm along with current management, the companies said."

As a quick trivia note, Embracer Group also owns Asmodee, who currently holds the Star Wars tabletop gaming license.

I wouldn't mind FFG level Art in comics... or Dark Horse Art illustrating RPG either!

It's official. The High Republic Adventures by Daniel José Older will be moving on to Dark Horse as an "all-ages original graphic novel".

So how many issues will the current IDW run have. Are they going to have a break or will Darkhorse just pick up the very next month?

I think the last issue will release in February and then Dark Horse will be starting in October. To me it sounds like there will be no High Republic content at all from March to September.

There's Mission to Disaster in March, two Marvel trades in April but after that it is looking pretty barren for HR items.

Dark Horse!!! Thank The Maker, and The Force!

I wonder if this will mean old Darkhorse comics like Tales of the Jedi and Dark Empire will be republished? Kinda like the new must read Legends line of books they’ve been releasing.

At last, the long-awaited Rebels comics!! Go Dark Horse. That's a great price for the value, too.

Apparently Wedge appears in a few of those, it'll be good to finally get to read them.
I wonder if there's any chance of the UK magazine comics getting something similar, I'd love to see Drone Alone and Memory Loss.

Yep, the series included two Wedge-centric stories, in issues #33 and #35. The story from #33 is an immediate follow-up to the events of "The Antilles Extraction."

Did the show ever in anyway reference characters or events that took place in those mini comics?

Not to my knowledge, no. The only reference to these comics I'm aware of in the wider canon was in Annual #1 from Marvel's Star Wars (2015) series, which included a character first introduced in one of the Rebels comics.

Unmentioned for some reason in the article but mentioned in this week's "This Week in Star Wars" - "Hyperspace Stories" is a twelve issue limited series. "Tales from the Rancor Pit" looks to be a one-shot.

This looks as much like Star Wars Adventures as I'd expected, especially the Rancor Pit one-shot, which seems like it could have been in the works under IDW.
I've never read the Tag & Bink stories, but I recognise Marangon from the Tales introduction pieces. Hopefully he's not the last returning Dark Horse creator. It's interesting that Hyperspace Stories is a limited series, I would have expected it to be an ongoing taking the place of SWA. I wonder if The High Republic will get its own series, or be folded into this one.

Yeah this really just seems like another Star Wars Tales with perhaps a combination of IDW type of works. I might check it out to begin with but will drop it pretty quickly if it doesn't turn into anything more than that. I really don't have much in the way of expectations for this go 'round of Dark Horse anyways since they are just taking the place of IDW.

well hopefully they don't saturate the shelves with issues, I still have piles of IDW comics to get to. I liked it when it was just Tales monthly (and I do quite like the Tales format to see again here) that I could handle but IDW went crazy real quick.
