We have watched the OT so far.

I always read the opening crawl for them.

As soon as we got to "the taxation of trade routes"...

It was George’s change not Disney’s. It’s an inane change worthy of the list and getting + voted for but I can‘t condone it being upvoted for false reasons.

I only recently learned of this travesty.
I was led to believe this was an alteration to the debut of ANH on Disney+ (which that iteration, thank god, I have never seen).

If it was only 2019 that this violation occurred, then would it not be Disney doing the damage?

George Lucas over saw the 4K restorations of the Original Trilogy in preparation for their conversation to 3D before the sale of LucasFilm to Disney.

At that time George Lucas opted to cutout the clumsy pyrotechnic Greedo dummy which appeared in a few frames before getting blown up and again modified the editing on Han shooting. This time the dummy greedo is replaced with the additional line of Greedo saying ‘MacKlunky’.

The Original Trilogy was never converted to 3D and the new remasters of the movies were not released for the public to see until 2019 with the premiere of Disney+.

The picture quality of the ‘new’ transfers is the best the movies have looked at home. The theatrical color grading has largely been restored. Return of the Jedi looks like it was reshot compared to the sloppy transfer the DVD and BluRay were made from.

Overall you’re missing out not watching the newer remasters compared to the DVD (2004) or BluRay (2011) versions of the movies.
