I have no idea who Debra Wilson is, I have no idea it was mocap, I have never played Call of duty.
If that's how she looks then fair enough, from my perspective as someone who has no idea on all that or any idea on who she is I thought it was a dodgy bit of graphic design, there are times that Cal looks a little odd too but Cere's is just really noticeable on the PS4.


I have also just done a google image search on her and my impression based on those pictures is that her eyes in real life do not appear to "bulge" out as they do in the game. If I was to put a mocap version of her against her picture, the shape of the face is accurate, the eyes are not.

 

It's literally a digital scan of her face, with full motion capture to boot. That's the natural shape of her eyes.

Don't take this as me desperately defending flaws in the game either. I'm actually deeply disappointed in how Fallen Order runs on PS4. I've just started on Dathomir and some enemies aren't loading animations, while others don't spawn on time, causing you to be unfairly ambushed.

In fact, I've been trying to capture video of enemies spawning in late and T-posing to show their dominance, but the game is putting such a strain on the PS4's performance that the share feature is not working, it's hogging all the free memory that the system has.

Fallen Order on PS4 is really bad, which sucks. Because I can tell beneath the performance issues there's a really good game here.

 

I've just seen a pc Vs PS4 comparison and I think it's the PS4 that's the issue with the eye bulge thing as the same scene on pc doesn't have it.

 

I'm enjoying it. I'm doing badly with the combat, but I think that's more to do with me having jumped to Dathomir straight away upon getting the choice of planets, as I was doing mostly fine on the first areas with it.

Worlds look great, the story has some great interactions within it, and I'm enjoying my time with it.

So the difference in platform changes the sculpt of the character model? Specifically the eyes?

Titanfall 2 worked fantastic without a patch. I had faith in Respawn releasing a game that didn't need a patch to work.

 

Without wanting to jinx it, I've been pleasantly surprised with the lack of bugs I've experienced so far. Just done Zeffo and the only issue I've had is some textures not loading on a wall.

 

What platform are you playing on? Because post Zeffo went to hell for me on a base PS4.

 

Watched a couple of reviews and what has stood out most for me is the world aesthetic, some really neat design on the environments.

I’m still not convinced it’s a good idea for me to buy this full price but, if say, a sweet Black Friday deal turned up in a week or so’s time, could well be tempted.

 

PC. It's been a thoroughly smoothe experience so far. If I had one complaint it's that the camera isn't great.

 

And it's true. What I have seen is one of the most beautifully realised games of the generation, no exaggeration.

The problem is that, for some reason, the base PS4 isn't keeping up to speed. Something that concerns me is that Digital Foundry, the team that do deep dives into game tech and performance, was only handed Xbox One code. Making me wonder if everyone involved knew the PS4 version wasn't up to snuff.

 

Sorry, the eyes look ridiculous on the PS4, they don't on her in real life and on the PC it looks fine. Graphic card setting on high level vs PS4 capability? Dunno but there is a difference.

I’m progressing nicely through the story and still having a good time. I’m back on Kashyyyk now to speak with Tarful. Gotta say I love the design of the Mantis. I’m hoping to see it pop up in other SW media, I suppose depending on how the game ends.

Definitely had some issues on PS4 Pro as well. Lots of dropped frames, and long load times. Definitely could have used another month or two in the oven it feels like. Great game overall, but there's definitely technical issues that hamper the experience at times. Given there's no dlc in the works, I expect it to get patched up nicely in the coming months and work to begin on Jedi 2 in whatever form it may take.

 

Arrived on Kashyyk last night, loving it so far.

It's clearly more of a Dark Souls game than anything else imo, that is just the dominant gameplay loop. Ive already had several instances where I needed to go through the same stretch of fights 4 or 5 times before beating it. That's fine with me though, because the variety of enemies is good, and the environments look nice. Overall it's not as polished an experience as a Souls game, the enemy animations are not as carefully curated, and Cal's combat options aren't as diverse, but the fact that you can adjust the difficulty to streamline it to your ideal pace means it doesn't get frustrating. I've had the same problem others have mentioned with the platforming, especially around the slides.

But I think Respawn should be commended for making a genre mashup that still feels distinctly Star Warsy. One little decision, instead of having a flashlight, you just hold up your lightsaber. It doesn't exactly make perfect sense in-universe, but it's a nice flavorful aesthetic that just feels cool. Lightsabers are awesome, and so the more we can use them, the better. And while in games like Uncharted, Assassins Creed, Tomb Raider, etc., where the main character can achieve super human acrobatics while still being a "normal" person can feel ridiculous after awhile, Cal's ability to make 15 foot jumps without breaking a sweat feels entirely natural, because he's a Jedi. The world just clicks together very nicely.

 

I like how it retains the SW feel while adding its own identity. The red shields from TPM are a nice touch. The capital ships, a crashed Jedi starfighter (I think at the beginning), and generally the ship dynamic and interacting with Wookiees, stormtroopers and wielding a saber. Sounds silly for a fictional universe, but the game has deepened my respect of what begin a Jedi would be like. They’re highly skilled but not invincible. Anyway, I’ll be playing again today.

 

I’ll wait till the winter to try out the game for myself, but I was watching a walkthrough video yesterday. Looks fun, looks like a fair amount of exploration is possible.

 

I have played this game for hours loved it. the exploration and story is neat, I like the battles and fighting mechanic. I like Cal and his companions. There are some nice easter eggs and reffrences to the PT,TCW and Rebels. I love the worlds in here new and old. Dathomir is just scary and hard. Kassshyk i love that world.
