I need the PC system requirements... anything about them yet? What about a version of the game for Mac?

A whole lot of us have a high amount of cynicism where this game's publisher is concerned. In contrast, there's a whole lot of confidence in the developers Respawn.

In the last couple of days, another of Respawn's games, Apex Legends, has been blighted by the new scourge of gaming, post-post-launch added microtransactions!

And why not? If you're a company like EA or Activision, this strategy is perfect - you get the credit for not doing them at launch, by the time you add them months later, no one will change the reviews, it's win-win!

Could it happen here? No way to know now or even later in the year, but some time in 2020 when attention is SW is a bit less than it is now? I wouldn't be surprised.

...Who cares if they add cosmetics 6 months down the track when everyone has already beaten the game?

I think you've misunderstood why people are angry with Apex Legends. Microtransactions were present at release but you could purchase exactly what you wanted. The game is free to play and so they need to fund development some how. They recently released a new event in which that was changed for specific cosmetic items in a RNG loot box. People got mad because they could not just get the cosmetics they wanted as they could before as well as a dev then getting snarky. They're still entirely optional and cosmetic only.

But again that would have little to no effect on Fallen Order who've already stated no micro-transactions.

I do not see what the issue is? Putting aside the devs already answering this exact question how exactly would optional cosmetics being released as micro-transactions 4-5 months post launch change how you enjoy the game at launch?

If CTR is any example, at launch could be the best time to enjoy Fallen Order.

As for declarations of no microtransactions, I am very sceptical of that. They can just add them and claim they are not actually that.

Absolutely they can. They’d also get sued because that is illegal false advertising. They’ve said no micro transactions or loot boxes. Adding anything remotely similar and calling it by a different name is not going to happen.

Let's hope you're right Andrew, I'd be quite happy if you were!

Since that is the old April announcement and they aren't selling the game yet, I don't think they can be sued for false advertising yet if they decide to add it later when they start selling it. Not like I think they'll go back on their word 180, but I don't trust they won't have some extra charge involved eventually for an add-on.

Add-on is a different game for me. Something like Blood and Steel for Witcher 3 earns what it charges. That expansion could have been a game in its own right.

As an older gentlemen sure, its also possible him and Ashoka to meet or him and Vos. I'm sure like with many popular characters like Tano and Ezra, he survives and goes futher into hiding or something.

Probably next month is when the media push starts, we're a little over two months from the game.

Those covers make me think of the art in those Myst/Riven/etc games. Wheels and telescopes and symbols and things. Confounded impossible puzzles with levers.

Come to think of it, I would be totally down with a game about Luke's Jedi books, where you have to read stuff about legends or people's diaries and then figure out what to do next to solve problems. The Elder Scrolls sort of did that, but they were wayyyy more into legend-focused texts that didn't matter directly with the plot most of the time. The Mysts were like reading the journals of madmen and trying to repeat what they did and hope you didn't get stuck in a book or unleash Grima Wormtongue on the masses. I never understood why the playable character thought it was a cool idea to follow the advice of clearly unstable strangers. That is literally the plot of every Myst game.

I suppose Cal Omas is already heading that direction, hanging out with Saw and all that. I don't see the arcane wheely telescopes yet. Maybe he'll find a Jedi text and try to bring back a Jedi superweapon or something. Then he has to choose to give it to Saw or to Cere. The red book or the blue book. I just don't know.

And just as you gave it to Cere a young kiddo Chelli Lona Aphra is intrigued by it and steals it! Subsequently her parents debate if it should go to the authorities (Empire) or if "it belongs in a museum" as her dad advocates!

PS: It's Cal Kestis, not Cal Omas but I get where that came from hehe

As much as I wish for such a mystery and lore loaded game, I fear it will be nothing like that and only marketed as if one. Maybe it is my lack of trust in their recent game track record but what I saw from gameplay so far is more The Force Unleashed meets Uncharted rather than any Kyle Katarn Games or Indiana Jones games of old.

Also the cover arts look like the temple and its new alien species are an entirely new invention for the game and not (yet) tied to anything we know. It may have some neat Mysteries of the Sith styled Force illusions built into it, or Jedi tests like the later Katarn games had in Yavin IV levels.

Yet personally I had hoped for this little scenario unfolding:

    What if...

Cal Kestis investigates the temple that is said to be shunned by both ancient Jedi and Sith alike. Jedi say it is a Sith Temple, Sith claim it was a Jedi Temple. What is true though? Unearthing evidence for both theories, the player slowly over the course of the games temple set levels finds out more about its past. Its followers and how far they once spread across the galaxy and their leader and his/her teachings. Ultimately the final reveal will be bittersweet and remniscient of KOTOR and TOR. This specific temple belonged to the Revanites and their leader. Cue Revan Forceghost or holocron? Will the player follow the dark, the light or the revanite interpretation of the temple and past? What will the journey make of him and what will he become? Will he rebirth the Revanites? Stay a Jedi hunted by the Empire? Fall to darkness and join the Inquisitorious?

Lightside end: Stays a Jedi and the Inquisitors kill him but at least the temples secrets is safe as he took it to his grave.
Darkside end: He lives and joins the Inquisitors after killing those that hunted him and hunts for Cere ever since.
Fun-middle ground end: He picks up the mask of the last Revanite leader and becomes a new Revanite, starting a new secret order of his own maybe down the line. The mask though is not that of Darth Revan himself but his last loyal follower centuries later. The name Revan he reconstructed during the game, whereas most writings only talked of a shortened version with letters lost to time. Revan... Re..n... REN. The mask is that of later Kylo Ren. Cal Kestis as the first Knight of REN?

Now that'd be some story and ending. Lets hope as epic as the game will be it got a punch and surprise and won't just be a one off sidestory that is neat but out of context could be ignored.

Say whatever you want about EA, Respawn, gameplay, or graphics.... The art direction for this game is absolutely stunning.

I don't mind microtransactions beyond loot boxes and Pay to Win.

Buy all the emotes, armor, and horse armor you want.

Reserved by copy at Gamestop earlier this week. Can't remember the last time I anticipated a Star Wars game as much as this one. Hoping it doesn't let me down.
