I doubt they will. While it's true that Ahsoka survived past Endor, it was made explicit that she was not a Jedi. As for Ezra, he was never granted the title of Jedi Knight. His master merely deceived him into believing that he could become a Jedi.
The get-out of simply having to say "I'm not a Jedi" for that to become literally true is still really dumb.
It reduces the concept of "Jedi" to an official term, rather than the full moral implication of what the position entails.
I wouldn't put Ezra in the same category as Ashoka. While I wouldn't call him a Jedi knight, he is still a Jedi. Just a Jedi apprentice who lost his master. Speaking of not Jedi Ashoka, I hope Snoke can do what Vader failed to achieve. If he learns about her and that she is a former Jedi, that won't let her off the hook.
We have only just 2 out of 10000 jedi surviving so far past original trilogy. And both never really became jedi knights and one abonded the jedi when they failed her. I think this new jedi purge survivor will either die or go dark by end unless there's more then one game with him. maybe we get some story dlc with this game. I bet that the ending will be on Mustafar and Vader tourturing the jedi.
I think there's a really easy out for this. Lots of Star Wars RPGs have allowed for different endings where certain characters live/die, fall to the dark side/stay in the light, etc..., but for purposes of continuity one light side ending is regarded as having "happened." No reason we can't have a fun, satisfying playthrough where our character beats the odds and survives, but just have a different ending marked as the canonical one. Unless the protagonist is actually Kanan, it seems unlikely that it's someone big and notable who'd be referenced a lot later, so if you enjoy your memories of how the game went you won't have a bunch of people saying "Actually X is dead." in later works and making you feel bad. I guess I am in the minority (though I never thought this way before) but I want this to have a happy ending. I get that it is set in the dark times, but I want some light in it. Let our hero live. He can go into hiding, but I want him to live. Maybe have a family. Be happy.
Maybe the Fallen Order is someone (Barris) who becomes an Inquistor and the whole game is just wrecking things for the Dark Side. No redemption whatsover. "There is a fallen order so I'm going to trash everything in sight". Force Unleashed but without any morality.
Darth Vader recruits a group of dangerous ex-psychopath Jedi gone dark on an ultra secret mission. This is also the plot of Suicide Squad, but this is ok. No, no wait. If the main character is supposed to be a good Force user, that means if the villains are Suicide Squad up against swirley evil ancient power, that's just the plot of Dark Forces 2.
You just made me realize how similar the Inquisitors are to that idea. They are not exactly locked up, but they are somewhat unhinged Jedi Vader uses. Personally I want Vader to recruit former Jedi and force users by paying them to be merc who will do Imp stuff without anyone knowing these are Imperial plans. Thus leaving their enemies unable to know how aware the Empire is of them........and yes this is just Secret Six......well my understanding of Secret Six, I never actually read it cause *looks over at pile of unread comics literally covering the tops of 3 longboxes* well cause of that I do wonder if they will try and refrain from force user enemies. Like an anti-Jedi taskforce of some officers from the Clone Wars, mixed with clones, and maybe even commandos (Delta Squad?)
Yeah, killing off a game character the player has invested is rarely ever a good move. The effect is amplified further if they go with the create your character route. Go and read comics. Go directly to read comics. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200 to spend on more comics.
Guys the game will most likely not span two decades. If it takes place anywhere along the timeline between Episodes III and IV the character can both survive the end of the game (and probably a few sequels!) and still die in time for Luke to train with Yoda.
Personally, I'd love for it to end with the player taking control of Vader and having to hunt down and defeat the protagonist across an entire level. And then the player gets a true taste of the dark side in that they have all this power and yet it still seems supremely unsatisfying. LUDONARRATIVE SYNERGY.
That could work Uli. If they took it to the next level, in that you can develop the Force powers as you see fit then you have to adapt as Vader to those developed powers, which amps up the reply value. Equally they just go the whole hog and do a separate Vader mode, where you hunt down your Jedi character and those of other players that you know, each with their unique Force set-up.
There's something like this in the 2015 Battlefront, at least when you buy it on the Playstation and are downloading it. It takes like four hours to download but when it gets to a certain point, you can play a mini-level where you're Vader going around killing Rebels in Echo Base with unlimited health while the rest of the game finishing. It seems like fun but playing an unstoppable dark side god who kills insignificant peons gets old surprisingly fast.
No new game info in this link, but something has appeared on Amazon and I figured I'd post it because I know several of you often pick up this kind of item: Spoiler The Art of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order On-sale date subject to game release date From Respawn Entertainment comes a brand-new action adventure game which tells an original Star Wars story around a surviving Padawan set shortly after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Also on B&N's site.
I'm hoping our hero doesn't bite the dust in his 1st game. Let this game become the dark forces/Jedi Knight successors within this new canon. It's to bad they torpedoed the post RoTJ Jedi. Sadly our hero of a dying order has more of a chance of surviving as a good guy through giving up jedihood (settling down?) then if he were a student of Luke's, where certain death or dark side are his only options. Their is a lot they can do in the years not long after Order 66. Encountering other Jedi survivors, fighting an Inquisitor. Interacting with separatist holdouts? Entering the underworld? I also want to see clone wars era tech alongside the new Imperial tech. Such as some clones still using phase 2 armor.
