Star Wars Miniatures: Official Discussion (Wish lists, team builds, general discussion)

Light/Dark refers to a format of tournament play which is essentially Good V Evil; they used Light/Dark because of the Star Wars history.

Consider, in SW Minis you have the following factions: Old Republic; Republic; Rebel Alliance; New Republic; Sith; Separatists; Empire; Vong; Fringe.

If you divide that into Light/Dark, you get:

LIGHT: Old Republic; Republic; Rebel Alliance; New Republic
DARK: Sith; Separatists; Empire; Yuuzhan Vong

The fringe remains a separate faction.

So instead of having a Republic/Rebel/Separatist/Imperial theme to the Starship minis, and having 4 or more factions to chose from, you get Light and Dark. So, a Light Force could have X-Wings, Eta-2s, Naboo N1s, the Falcon, Corellian Corvettes, Mon Calamari MC80as and Venator-class destroyers. A Dark Force could have Vulture Droids, TIE Fighters, Trade Federation Freighters, Imperial-class destroyers and Slave 1.

I know, but still that have made far more sense to do with characters rather than ships. After all, the galatic empire and the republic are on opposite sides, but they're fleets would mix far more than empire/CIS. Or imagine combining the droid hating Vong with the all driod CIS.

 

It's rare that happens, and faction rules would allow you to put an R5/Gonk/IG88/4LOM on the same team as the Vong anyway.

It's more having the comedy gold of Han Solo on Republic teams; though Jaina + Han on NR teams is awesome. For 100pt awesomeness, put Jaina + Han Rebel Hero + Corran on the board.

WotC_Rob has posted the stats and picture for the Bounty Hunters Snowspeeder:

 

Whoa! How is that thing going to fit into a standard booster? I didn't think Bounty Hunters was going to be packed like Universe.

 

Its another huge set, just like Universe.

 

Oh! My mistake. I saw some artwork for the boxes a while back and could have sworn they weren't big enough for huge units. Now I'm even more excited.

 

The July League Kit has a repaint of a Bounty Hunters mini: the Rodian Hunt Master.

Bounty Hunters Preview 1 is up. We've got a new, more powerful Bossk and a Mistryl Shadow Guard. And Nym is on the link pic (at least I think its Nym.)

The Mystril interesting, and Bossk has been beefed up considerably.

I'm suprised we're not getting more news out of Gencon.

The Holocron has some pictures from the Minis presentation, and GamingReport.com has a video of it.

Am I alone in thinking that we don't need a Mandalorian faction, and that they could have easily been combined with Fringe?

Yeah, too much going on there IMO. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a dynamic and interesting pose but it also seems too crowded. Plus, knowing the bendiness of some pieces, I expect to see some droopy flamethrower looking like a massive goober.
