San Diego, CA Star Wars on DVD Midnight Madness

I'll be at school in Mission Valley til 10:45pm on Monday night, so it just makes sense for me to go over to Best Buy since it's right there, if they are in fact going to be open for us to have a little Star Wars soirree.

 

Hehe, the 18th is also "Rachel gets to move to college" day, woo...

Hey, quick question. Depending on my work schedule (which I'll find out Sunday), would someone be willing to drive me to and from whatever midnight madness we're going to? I'll be at UCSD by then, so it's not like driving all the way up here and back.

 

i should be able to drive you.. you'll be at Blake or Argo right?

 

The manager from Wherehouse Music Del Mar called me again, they would really like to get at least a few of us to show up for their Midnight Madness event for the DVD. Is there any interest in this?

 

I need to get up at 5:45am for work on Tuesday, but I will go to ANY store in San Diego that is opening at midnight to get the discs early even though I have them pre-ordered.

del mar is about as close to me as mission valley.... did the del mar manager want bodies or costumes?
i too have a pre-order from an online place so i won't actually be buying it though at either place.

 

The Del Mar Wherehouse Music manager wants bodies, but costumes are icing on the cake. They would be happy with anything really and would let us pass out flyers and do whatever we want to do. If Brendon Ewers is going to do Vader at Mission Valley Best Buy (if they ever confirm), Michael said he would do Vader at Del Mar Wherehouse.

I've been trying to call Best Buy Mission Valley daily and I can never get through.

I have called Best Buy's Corporate Offices in Minneapolis to get their assistance in putting me in touch with Anne Marie at the Mission Valley Store. They DO NOT have Best Buy Mission Valley on their list of stores having a midnight madness. This does not mean it won't be occurring as each store can organize its own events. Needless to say, the event day is only 4 days away and we still do not have a confirmation from Mission Valley Best Buy. I need to know for certain the event is taking place there before I can inform the masses and call the media etc., if they have a location for costumed members to change etc. I also need to hear what they would require of us, if anything. I also need to hear from them ASAP as it isn't fair to leave Wherehouse Music hanging any longer as they want to work with us, and have been calling me. I spend hours a day sitting trying to redial Mission Valley Best Buy with the speaker phone on with no luck - so it isn't for lack of trying.

Best Buy's Corporate Public Relations Department called me back again and stated that Mission Valley Best Buy does not have corporate approval to hold a midnight event on September 20th. They stated they MAY be holding a Tuesday DAY or evening event for the DVD that we could appear at. The corporate office will be getting in contact with Anne Marie for us and they will call us back to let us know what time on Tuesday September 21st they would like us to be present.

Edit: I received a call from "Henry" of Best Buy, thanks to Tony for contacting him on my behalf. It definitely does not look like there will be a midnight opening in Mission Valley for the following reasons 1) No direction from corporate to do so 2) They are in the middle of a remodel and 3) Anne Marie has been out due to knee surgery.

So... looks like Wherehouse Music in Del Mar for the Midnight event. I need a head count of those going to the Del Mar event, let me know if you will be in costume or plain clothes, and if you are bringing friends etc.

 

Okay then it looks like I'll be going to the Del Mar Wherehouse event since Best Buy is not an option. I will be attending and I will be bringing Emily along. I will be in costume most likely as a Mandalorian though it is possible I will come as a Jedi or as Kit Fisto (not very likely though). If I come as Mandalorian, Emily may wear my Jedi costume. At any rate, I will be there.

Nope, I will prob wait until Tues morning...go to work early then, buy it and get out before the store opens...lol! Or better yet, bully them to play it on the mini living room setup...(54" plasma, 5.1 surround sound and big comfy chairs...

I'm still waiting to see if I can go or not. If I do, I'll be in plain clothes.

 

I know I'm still a newbie here and all and my costume isn't exactly up to the level and quality of your guys'(though I do like the material), but i'd still like to help if I could. I might not be able to stay as long cause it's a school night, but I'll see what my agenda is for tuesday and see how I could fit this into it.

 

I just need the address of the Del Mar store. I'll be there in a club shirt. If you need help earlier there I can show up any time since I am off Monday. I MUST HAVE THIS SET!!!!

Mystical - Don't worry about having to wear a costume, we aren't a costume club (so says DarthBrian). A Star Wars T-shirt is fine really if you don't want to dress up.

 

hi again! its me,the suncoast in the cv mall guy. my manager is wonderin if any of you could come by next saturday, the 25th, doesnt look like anybody is willing to come by on the 21st due to their schedules, but if you could make it saturday we'd really appreciate it(in costume would be GREAT). we'd hook you up w/ some pizza. if we could get storm troopers or people in all out costume to work the lines thatd be cool. you can call the store 2morrow between 4pm-10pm, or saturday between 4-10pm. asap would be ideal so we know if we can expect you. Saturday the 25th looks like the day we will be having our Star Wars DVD movie marathon on the big screen. We will be showing the movies and special features on a big screen, eating food, having a good time etc. Is there another day your manager has in mind other than the 25th?

I'm sure some people could make the evening of the 21st... I know I could.

 

those were the 2 days we were shooting for, but i'll ask him if friday is cool, cuz that sounds like a good day also.
