    Side stuff:

The faction system can be oddly arbitrary at times. Zezek Besh steals some weapons from the Hutts, Ashiga want to nab then, you do that. Then rep boost with them at the end, but a fall from the Hutts. But all the Hutts know is Zerek Besh hit them.

Later I did a counter-offer reject and one accept, rep boost but not corresponding loss. It's odd.

Did do a rather neat, albeit unexpected stealth key card grab on Tatooine. The amount of times a stealth ability aimed at one guard sends everyone into high alert is irritating.

On the plus side, I have had my first decent fire fights, where the new gear has demonstrated its worth, as has the upgraded blaster. Whisper it, but there were times when the aim assist seemed to work! I wish it made it easier to clearly highlight enemies and gave a better direction of fire indicator than it does.

Update on forced stealth apparently the best update will make forced stealth less punishing

Have actually been doimg some decent stealth runs, slipping in, getting stuff, getting out and no one notices! It helps that I'm using stealth boost gear but still rather satisfying.

Got Crimson Dawn rep maxed out, next will likely be the Ashiga. Also helped Crimson Dawn in a space fight.

Paid a visit to Akiva, which is something else. Might be the most graphically impressive location in the game. Exploring that fully will be fun. Oh and I have Nix's full suite of abilities unlocked!

    Finally, I met Lando.

I just ran around for an hour, won a speeder race, and got pasted trying to get to a pirate site being raided by Bucketheads but before i died I managed to unlock the fast talk ability so that was nice

After boxing off Astrobot, I've finqally started this

I've just left Canto Bight and I'm going to break into the Pike District next.

It currently feels very "on the rails" with nothing suggesting going exploring just yet, I'm hoping it opens up after this next set piece

It opens up after Canto. Canto is the most. Closed it feels

Yeah there isn't even a map on Canto which even for a small chunk is annoying

Comparing the open-world layout of Tatooine in Outlaws to maps from the old Visual Dictionary. They look to be remarkably similar, although scaling is probably adjusted.

I finally started the game today, since they apparently patched it to make the fail states for some stealth missions easier.

Really liking it so far, even though the tutorial or on screen indicators of what buttons to press are so small I can't read them. Gonna have to go into accessibility settings to change that I assume.

Otherwise it's really cool so far. Just finally got through all the tutorial type stuff and to the open world.

Finished Kijimi and unlocked Lando as an Expert. It was a very mixed run overall.

The two main quests were mostly limited on stealth, which helped. Was able to trap some alarms and take someone out, until the game did its usual move of changing Kay's attack on one of a pair of guards to the other non-Nix hit guard, cue alarm. Not the first time either.

The other regular problem is enemies wearing black against a black background. Along with the most muted high contrast mode going.

The inflicted firefight with the poison spiders felt very videogame conceit. But it was far harder because enemies are so indistinct. Add in poor direction of fire indicators and it marred two good levels, as did the aim assist which I still find lacking. With better health, blaster and gear it's not as bad, but still not that good.

The other big flaw for me is its signposting, which is often terrible. One bit has a fan, I'm supposed to switch it off, how? Can't see anything, turns out its this brown boulder that blends into the background!

Which is a shame as the story pary of both quests were superb. Ank was hilarious!

Did a faction quest that was complete arse, so when the time came I screwed Mayiu over, take that you needy little bastard.

Then unlocked Lando as an expert. The sabacc game is probably the only time I'll be winning one. The Imperial patrol at Akiva was not great then there was a prolonged mess of a firefight. Too often I couldn't easily tell the direction of fire or enemy location by the top of the screen compass.

And what that also showed, along with the route to the location, is that in worlds this big, that single compass is inadequate. Guided route to location needs to be an option.

Adding insult to injury a good few of Lando's ability unlocks are linked to the sabacc crap. Which, short of many prayers to the RNG gods, I'm probably never unlocking. Game needs an easy / auto-win option if it's going insist on it in quests. Being fair though, the High Roller quest did get that bit right.

Still, somehow, by a few minor miracles, I'm over halfway.

Are you playing full screen or cinematic? If cinematic, switch that off as fast as you can.

Lol, oh that’s what you were talking about. :p

I love the eating mini game! A little bit of comedy, great animation for Nix, and you get some very useful abilities out of it. Frankly I wish other cutscenes were as well done.

I got nothing out of the first one and it was that stupid and annoying, it gave me no reason to go back.

If there are ability expansion things available then fair enough but its just weird

In your load out menu there will be a “treat” for Nix, which is a special ability, you switch out the meals he’s had for different abilities. One allows him to distract up to two enemies at once, very useful for stealth play.

Cinematic. Why? Does that make the HUD stuff much bigger?

Take it off that wide-screen mode it defaults to. Looks cool and cinematic and Star Wars y but makes icons impossible to see

It does increase it, not sure if it's enough for what you need but those black bars were very deceptive. They compress the screen, made it harder to see the road routes, enemies.

There's also a field of view setting you should experiment with too.

I don’t think this game has a new game plus which makes me way less likely to replay it ever. Like how hard is it to implement NG+
Like I am sure it takes some time but IMO basically every game should have NG+ by now

For what Outlaws sells itself as, it is very weird that it this absurd morality in it. Shoot a guy in a forest, out of sight of the other guards - not only do they know that this guard they can't see is dead, they know where you are and the game comes up with a reputation reduction.

Oh and the game manages to screw up a sniper rifle by a bad zoom and the slowest trigger going. Plus, even zoomed in to the max I couldn't easily see the enemies I was trying to take out.

On the plus side I did the Droidsmith quest and I don't think it had single "do not get caught" requirement in the mission. It made for a better mission. Still some weaknesses in terms of where to go, but pretty good.

And while the mission to do so was crappy, having the hydro part for the speeder and Temmin unlocked is very cool. Some of the abilities he offers look very smart.
