We should be mindful, that whatever it will be Malachor, Ziost or other EU planet, it can have a totally different historical background like: "Ok, it is Malachor V, an ancient Sith world... but Mandalorian Wars never happened here".

Which is exactly as it should be. I can't speak for the others, but I'm excited to see what the "Ultimate" (in the Marvel sense) version of Malachor is like. Where it's the same as it was previously and also where it differs.

 

This makes my soul hurt.

Nah. The VD associates the crossguard sabers with the "scourge of Malachor", so I imagine this stuff will have to link in.

 

They really should rename Malachor, though. What if the audience gets it mixed up with Mandalore? It sounds way too similar!

True - though in this case the Mandolorian Wars are mentioned and even depicted a bit in TCW, so they happened. Whether or not they were connected to Malachor remains to be seen.

 

I wasn't going to watch the trailer, but inevitably too many spoilers from it started popping up on all of my feeds so I gave in and just watched it anyway.

It looks amazing. I cannot wait to see this half of the season.

 

I really like that design. It looks like something transitional from Episode II to III. T-shirt power to the max!

They were never referred to by that name. Could have been any other EU conflict involving Mandalorians.

 

There's certainly no shortage to choose from.

 

The visuals for the rest of the season look amazing. I hope that the story is up to par.

A jedi being killed in Rey's vision? He isn't wearing the tatooine robes that all the jedi wore in the prequels and instead is wearing something very Japanese looking like Raiden in Mortal Kombat

 

The visuals for the second part look good but the story is (for me anyway) one of the problems that the show suffers from

• Using pretty much the same story line E.G Infiltrate an Imperial base. Which is why there is excitement over the Sith Temple etc, it's something different.
• The Blandness of Lothal, Despite being off that World for much of the time this season, they are still using bland visuals and planets, similar too it. So again the Maw and Temple are generating excitement. Though to be fair the writers, I am guessing that it's because of limited budgets rather than simple laziness.
• Huge Cast and they are untouchable while not being that interesting. So there is no tension. It's why the talk is about the side and reoccurring characters such as Ahsoka and Rex. There is genuine tension because we don't know there fates. Whereas we know with the Ghost crew nothing will happen to them. Hell the writers have even made jokes in an episode about the amount of times Ezra has busted in and out of jail.
• The Imperials, lets be honest as villains they are a joke and it's not even funny. Adding more or less does not make a difference to the overall problem. They are glorified Wiley Coyotes against a crew of Road Runners. The saving grace or tragedy for Kallus is that he has a great actor doing his voice work and that's pretty much it. It's why again there is talk and excitement about Maul and his relationship with Ezra because off the above.

I actually don't like how Anakin looks in this. Yes, it is clearly based off of his looks in TCW, which I understand, but it looks absolutely nothing like Hayden Christensen, which bothers me. Obi-Wan's cameo in the first episode still resembled McGregor, Lando still looks like Williams, Leia still looks like Fischer... but Anakin looks nothing like Christensen. Why?

With that said, I'm thrilled to be seeing him, regardless of how he looks.

Hayden Christensen is an actor. Anakin Skywalker was an actual figure of history who lived a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

I wouldn't expect a cartoon about Alexander the Great to make him look like Colin Farrell. Jeez.

Not especially. I don't think Star Wars is real, obviously, but I prefer to view the films the same way I would a historical drama, or biopic.

The "magic window into another world" approach has its own appeal, and worked for a time, but now we're entering the era of spin-off films it's probably best abandoned.

Still, when the rest of you are racking your brains over how a kid who looks nothing like young Harrison Ford turned into Harrison Ford, I'll be laughing.
