Didn't Maul often speak of revenge against his former Master? Or revenge against the Sith?

Everyone died. Thrawn did it. First down was Ezra. Then the rest of the Ghost crew. Then he killed all the Mandalores disguised as a Mandalore. He killed the cubist movement. Then he went to Tatooine and killed Obi-Wan. He killed Lothal. All of it. He didn't just seige it he killed it. Then he found Ahsoka and killed her and her little owles too. Then he killed Vader and Mothma and basically everybody else, and then he died too. But not before he killed you and me. That's the plot twist, you see.

They're gonna have a hard time beating this finale come Season 4.

    "You know about the Inquisitor?"

"He is my enemy. All Inquisitors and their masters are my enemies."

Ezra and the others show no sign of knowing that there are any Sith in the Empire other than Vader. But as viewers, we know that Maul is referring to Sidious as his true enemy. The name Darth Sidious has never been mentioned in Rebels. And the Emperor has never been mentioned in reference to the Force. The Rebels Producers are very committed to preserving a Original Trilogy theme for the show by having the Emperor be a shadowy, almost mythical presence, rather than the real, physical enemy that the Clone Wars had him as.

There isn't any reason for anyone to know the Emperor is a Sith is there? After all, in the public's eyes he goes straight from Chancellor to Emperor and retains his Palpatine name.

There's no reason not to believe Palpatine is a Sith either. After all, he executed Order 66 and has Darth Vader as his slave.

Exactly. Hence my point that Ezra and his friends don't know who Darth Sidious is. Darth Vader is the only Sith Lord they're aware of. Which is why an assassination or kidnapping attempt on the Emperor would be a viable plan for them. They think he's just a feeble old man.

Vader being the only known Sith also makes Ezra's "I must destroy the Sith!" mania even more forced and/or nutty. Yes, Vader is powerful in direct combat... but he's not the glue keeping the Empire together. Ezra and Kanan seem to have never even heard of him before Season 2.

Again, Palpatine executed Order 66 and Vader answers to the Emperor.

I think the idea they don't believe he's a Sith Lord is not substantiated by any source.

Actually there's no source that states that they believe he is a Sith Lord. Or even a Force-Wielder. In absence of that, any belief that they know is unsubstantiated speculation.

    Who said "don't believe"? I didn't.

They don't know either way...and no, Order 66 is not conclusive proof, neither id Vader.

Reading the spoilers it all seems a bit Meh. Not bad per say and fine as a mid season episode but pretty emotionless for a season finale

Caught the episode on demand tonight. EU-tastic.

"I require no glory, only results for my Emperor" might be one of my new favorite Imperial lines. I also liked "What Jedi devilry is this?" Rebels Thrawn is good Thrawn.

Should note that the New Republic generally takes this approach, with hierarchy and hereditary titles no longer being held in any esteem. It would be interesting if this was a concession to other rebel factions and their opposition to the Republic/Imperial social order.

And from the Rebels comics by Martin Fisher, we know of a small cell led by Commander Ryden, which was first based on Imvur but was forced to relocate to Kinrah after being attacked by an Imperial officer named Viggen. Apparently, there's also a cell on Klonoid, although we never saw it.

    Just watched it online.

Honestly, it was kind of a *blah" couple episodes.

They lost the base, but escaped.

Sato did his honorable suicide to take out Konstantine, but that was early on, and I didn't feel much.

Thrawn kills Bendu, with Bendu vaguely predicting his defeat... but Bendu pulls the disappearing act. And Bendu also kind of acted nonsensically throughout.

    It was just... blah.

I feel like it's a dissapointing finale. Bendu makes no sense, I hoped all these jedi magic stuff would be laid past and we'd get a real big battle in Rebels, but the magical creatures just had to come in. I also feel very tired of the rebels always making it somehow, there wasn't even any heavy casualties except for Sato which can hardly count as that. This sort of counts like a failure for Thrawn, which is annoying because Rebels get plot armour.

    Live notes:
    Here we go.
    Death Troopers right away. NICE!!!

    Hey Tarkin!

I love the SW theme playing as we see the base and rebels running around. Just a nice little moment.

Does Sato not get praise? I mean not like he is the leader of the navy for the entire cell!!!!!!!

    Dodanna!!!!!!!!

Nice to see Ezra's old home. Make this really feel full circle far more than the on the nose Kanan convo did.

Thrawn!!!!!!!! I love that he just shows up behind Kallus like the smooth bad*** he is.

I love that he has death troopers right there but choses to go in alone and fight hand to hand. I love him so much.

Nice to see Atollon up close on a map but I can't make out exactly where it is still.

Yeah the ISD's seemingly going from Lothal to Atollon in about 12 seconds is still dumb. Hyperspace should take longer than that. It is nearby sure but 12 seconds just feels way to fast. Though I would like a theory I heard to be canon which is that Thrawn had a fleet en route and this is just for show to have others leave and make it seems like they can move that fast or something. But still made me laugh how fast that was.

Oh wow the theory was correct!!!!! Holy crud. He sent the Interdictors in later which makes it seem like 12 seconds or at least that's what it seems to be. Cool!!! And now the Chimera shows up about 3 min after entering hyperspace!!!!! Yay they actually payed attention to the time discrepancy. I was kinda worried watching the clip but they actually did think about it. This show just keeps getting better.

Thrawn's speech is so cool. Just "yeah you lost. No "I will not surrender" speech can take this moment away. I have won and you suck"

Kanan people are dying! Warning the Bendu is wasting innocent people's lives. Ok at least he is letting them get on with it while he leaves.

"I do not require glory, only results for my Emperor" I love Thrawn. Loyal to our Emperor no matter what.

Wait those proton torpedoes actually left big marks on a shielded ISD?

Wow those Tie Bombers are op. Two shots and the CR90 is down. Not even complaining there just nice to see.

See people who said that the Jedi should be more like the Bendu cause grey is somehow better than serving light? Bendu is apathetic. He should not be followed. he is nature and quite not justice and compassion.

    Kanan preach dude!!!!!

Wait a few Tie shots took down a Hammerhead? Those things can mostly last direct hits to an ISD physically. Please remember shields Rebels!!!

The music here is so good. Sato you sonnova gun!!! The end of kostantine. Maybe the force be with you Sato.

    See Bendu is a jerk

Do we really have to have the main characters be at odds with or prove the command wrong? At least they don't strawman Mon but still can't we just for once not have a dispute between command and the main cast? It is getting old how often SW does it in the new eu.

    Onto ep 2

How is he gonna get from Atollon to Mandolore and back before the Empire wrecks the ground forces? That should be like a 3 day trip or so beind generous.

Did ISD main battery fire less than inches away from Kanan NOT kill him? So Tie blasts can rip through anything last ep but ISD cannon fire can't take out a speeder?. I get there is the whole distance and atmosphere slowing it but still.

I love Thrawn. He made the rebels piss themselves then stopped.

Oh for the love of god! Can we just have people work together rather than always doing the Ezra or hero or whoever speech that makes everyone decide they where right last second? It is getting so freaking old. Rebels stop doing this it is annoying. Ugh stop the rousing speeches about friendship!!! Just have them agree or instantly say "we can send some but not all". The annoying trend of the person not wanting to help for half and second is getting old.

Love the atmosphere of the AT-DP scene. Smoke and whatnot.

Ok AT-AT blasts can create massive explosions that utterly destroy turrets yet two can hit right next to Rex and not even knock him down?

Did Thrawn just call Wedge, the man who will destroy the second death star, an annoyance? Oh buddy you will wish that's the extent of what he does to your Empire.

Wait lightsabers can cut through an AT-AT leg with no resistance? I can buy one cutting the leg but that quick and with no strain is just plain dumb.

The GR75 crash looked SOOOOOO good.

So what now the Bendu decides to help? I hate that Thrawn won but nope now Bendu ants to help. it makes it feel cheap. Thrawn won and now the rebels are getting aay cause the will of the force but not cause skill.

deus ex machina means "god from the machine" this is essentially a force god helping out. A near litteral deus ex machina. I don't like this one bit. I get that in legends Thrawn failed cause the good guys made allies and gained trust and he did not foresee something right in his face but at least there he knew of it before hand and it was far more thematic and built into his plans. The Noghri betrayal this is not.

At least Bendu is hurting both sides.

I love Thrawn. He just stared down a god and ordered his men to shoot it. Well thrawn just killed a godlike being. I love him so much.

Awww. I wanted kallus to die. Not cause I hate him or anything just that he got caught and it would be nice if that led to death like it would logically.

I love that Thrawn just shoots Bendu. He makes his own future not some creature.

I do wish Thrawn got a bit more direct of a victory. His final scene while cool is the Bendu laughing at him and us showing that he will lose one day. I wish he could just get his victory and that would be it. no need to be like "na na na na na na you still sorta lost or will lose"

Pretty decent Not as great as the last finale at least emotionally but man was the animation great. My one thing is not everyone got enough to do. They got a bit each but not enough of for each imo. That and I wish it had a bit more emotional impact. it cannot and will not ever reach "twilight of the apprentice" but still.

I do love the fleet stuff even if I have some issues. Thrawn was great!!! I do really wish they had lost more. They won cause plot armor not skill and that bugs me.Hope next season is better cause this honestly made everything with Thrawn ride on this far far to much for not a big enough and honestly clever enough solution

I hate to agree but yeah. I liked it more than you it seems but more just cause I am on a high cause the fleet stuff.

I thought it was a really good episode to take us out from Season 3.

Watching the fleet get hammered was sad and shocking and the casualties on the rebels despite everything.

When it comes to the time difference, I doubt Kallus was using an full-speed subspace transmitter as it would be traced. He could've sent the transmission a few hours before it was received at Atollan from Lothal. As to Ezra travelling to and from Atollan, he likely used space lanes and it's clear that Mandalorian planets like Concord Dawn and Krownest appear to be border zone nearest to the Lothal sector.

Goodbye Konstantine, you won't be missed :D

Now I see what everyone's been telling me about Phoenix Home and the first Interdictor. I guess I needed to see the actual video and not a still picture to see what everyone is seeing. I wonder if the two crewmen that stayed with Sato will ever be named. Would be good if they were.

It appears Nightbrother is just called Gauntlet now. General Dodonna's flagship seems to be Vanguard. Wonder who that dark-skinned woman with Dodonna is. And a Dornean gunship called Orion. Question, at least one escort frigate and a couple of other ships were seen to have escaped to the surface but where were they in Part 2? Also, where was Phantom II?

Good call Kanan. Sure you are in the middle, Bendu, but sometimes if you need to defend your home you have to fight (he certainly didn't discriminate). And I doubt Bendu is dead, he became a cloud for goodness sake.

Nice of you to join, Kallus. Good to see you again, Sabine, Tristan, Fenn and Ursa.

I can understand Mon Mothma's reluctance to send aid. Thrawn is dangerous but overconfident. Look at what happened to Konstantine.

At least we have an explanation as to why Phoenix Squadron ships were seen on Massassi Base during "Rogue One". They got totalled, they lost badly and left a largely intact base for Imperial Intelligence to go through. At least Hera has a point, Thrawn hopes to trap the entire Rebel fleet. Something tells me that he may end up getting his wish, and pay the price for his arrogance.

All in all, a good episode. Farewell Sato. Hopefully, his nephew's friends can comfort him in this time of grieving.

    Season 4, here we come.

Ezra making it in time is fine. I was asking that while watching live remember. I had no idea how long Ezra would be on Mandolore and how much time thrawn would take. They did the right thing and had it seem to be an hour or two maybe even 3 between him leaving and coming back.

As for the first thing, my point has nothing to do with Kallus. The guy on Lothal looks down as if he sees a report and says that the ISDs took off. That was live or a really well timed message. My point was that if Thrawn left right then when Clancy Brown rebel saw the ISDs leave and then showed up 12 seconds later it would be cutting it to close. Which they clearly agree with me seeing as they make a point to show that the Chimera and interdictor are a few minutes late.

Ha yeah no one is missing Konstantine. The guy honestly should have died in season 1. I feel bad for Lyste though but then again now that Kallus is gone he can be released from prison.

I didn't see anything to suggest they have immediately left the Lothal system from Ryder Azadi. Besides what I saying about Kallus' message, he would've used a slower if near-untraceable signal to get to Chopper Base. It could've taken less than an hour to jump from Lothal to Atollon since they appear to be in the same sector.
