Spoiler Interesting. Presumably that means it's going to overlap with TLJ as well, given how quickly that movie happens after this one.
Spoiler random thought: the season finale is concurrent with the battle of Starkiller base. It would make for a conclusion to an arc "what is the first order up to?" "Oh, they built that!" and the season finale is the battle at SKB.
Star Wars: Tales From Echo Base...."it was just terrible...Mart got eaten by the wampa...and all we could do was watch frozen in horror til R2-D2 saved us."
The analogy would only work if the show was called Star Wars Here's Exactly How the Rebel Alliance Was Formed and Everything's On-Message. As it's about a group of rebels, that doesn't imply anything about what the story should or shouldn't show, aside from that group of rebels having adventures befitting a kids' cartoon series.
...wait, why are people hating on Mart Mattin? I kinda liked him, and he's certainly not the most horrible tuckerization out there, [cough]Coleman Kcaj.[/cough]
The show was called Rebels and that's what we got. Everyone's arc was great and they didn't need to interact with the Rebel Alliance at all; that was icing on the cake. Knowing Hera is part of the adventures in the background is great. Ezra and Sabine's arcs were mostly satisfying, but I wasn't super happy that it was left ambiguous and open at the end. I don't need everything explained about the Force or the state of the galaxy, but when I feel that a little group finds out that they are part of something bigger - that is the essence of Star Wars.
So... what's the issue here, then? Rebels seems to work fine as an adventure serial for you, and didn't seem to promise anything it didn't deliver on.
For me it is not about Mart himself....but about Iron Squadron as a whole. You have 3 arrogant teenagers who don't know what a Star Destroyer is running around thinking they are going to keep the entire Empire off their planet with a single freighter by dropping cargo pods loaded with explosives. Frankly....as soon as they met them Hera should have told Zeb and Sabine to drag them aboard the Ghost and had Ezra fly the Hammer back to Chopper Base....barring that the Spectres should have left them to their own devices...and I that means they get vaped by a Star Destroyer then so be it.
Random: do we know the approximate ages of the younger characters, like Kaz and Tora? I’m assuming they’re not as young as Ahsoka or Ezra since they appear to be more independent and not orphans or anything. (Could be mistaken though.)
At 0:53 in the extended look trailer, I noticed what appears to be a stuffed Ortolan toy on the wall... with four limbs.
Hey if there can be Ithorian offshoots with one mouth there can be Ortolan offshoots with four limbs.
I wonder how many episodes in this first season their will be. 22? I hope so. I also hope they don't take a break until Christmas time.
I'm not fully sold on the story premise of this show so far, but I like the visual style and really love that there are all this alien species there! Makes the galaxy seem much larger and not just human dominated.
