Minor touch, but looking at the motions of the gunnery crew, you can see that in Rogue One they are slightly more careful and deliberate, especially with the levers, while in ANH they seem to have gotten into a bit of a routine, and are a bit quicker on the controls. Minor touch, but a bit of a humanizing one for the crew- they are settling into this new device, and becoming more comfortable with it.

Following up on my observation about the space monkey targeting the walker joint from ESB- it turns out that was even more intentional.

This ILM feature on Rogue One concept art development mentions that the space monkey's gun was redesigned in post to look closer to the cannons used on Hoth.

There's also cool concept art of the citadel being shaped like a giant Imperial logo.

Well, there is still what I've always called "the slow lever pull" in ANH that becomes a faster pull in ROTJ for DS2, so they weren't above dramatic effect. ;)

    EDIT-

One day they have to release the interactive Scarif battle files...

According to Leland Chee, Tenn Graneet is still a canon name.

In his words, he says he isn't bothering with changing too many names in the Star Wars Universe. Helps me along with my list of characters, ships, locations and weapons by first appearance list I've been making for years.

Did he specifically mention Graneet or are you extrapolating from the general philosophy of not changing names?

    That was a joke....

I read the Death Star novel back in the day, I remember the name of the Chief Gunner. Just making a quip on how "Tell that to Kanjiklub" is a popular Star Wars meme. I gotta work on my joke delivery.

You can't tell jokes here because literally 90% of the others won't get them. So when one of those 90% question you just keep going. Do not go quietly into the night. Do not give up without a fight.

Speaking of changing names, I noticed in the early Rogue One trailers we had an almost spot-on Jan Dodonna lookalike here:

However, come the arrival of the film itself, we get another guy who looks less like ANH Dodonna and is not even wearing the same clothes:

I believe this is the guy who makes the nasty jerk comment "So you've told us" to Jyn when she reminds the Rebels how Galen died (killed by Rebels no less) for a chance to take out the Death Star.

So did the Dodonna actors change between reshoots? Or are Rogue One trailer Dodonna and Rogue One movie Dodonna the same actor with different clothes/makeup? What happened?

Also, not liking how they made Jan Dodonna (if it is him) such a jerk in Rogue One. I'm used to the kindly old man portrayal in the EU comics and X-Wing game. Maybe I'll just pretend this guy is Vrad Dodonna, looking older than he actually is? :p

I wouldn't say he is a jerk. He just has to deal with everyone else's issues. The Atollon cell just got his stuff wrecked now there is a planet killer and this member of another cell that caused him grief is showing up and telling everyone a story that's to good to be true. Though I do love that Draven is actually nicer than him in that scene.

    Extrapolating.

About the only characters to get name changes in the new EU were Marquand/Newland, Watts/Blanaid, Galen Torg/Gale Torg. So far, and according to Wookieepedia atm, everyone still has the same name from Legends.

They renamed Marquand and Watts? No! I loved those guys from the SWCCG!

If memory serves me right, the Story Group (or at least Leland Chee) don't like tuckerizations.

Marquand was awfully distracting, but Watts is a pretty common name - I wouldn't really consider it to stick out.

Conan Antonio Motti lost his "Conan." And frankly, good riddance...

No, he didn't. Ultimate Star Wars still used Conan.
(And TBH, I always found "Antonio" way more distracting than "Conan".)

People of Italian origin are a common sight where I live (in Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium). Therefore, "Antonio" doesn't sound fantastic or spacey at all to me. Not even "Imperial". To my ears, that's more like the name of that funny, elderly Italian neighbor who always sang songs and gave you money to weed his vegetable plot. ^^

George made that name up on the spot, and I know the "Conan" part comes from Conan O'Brien, but where did he get Antonio from anyway? Was Antonio Banderas sitting next to him on the guest couch?

I thought Antonio complemented Cassio (Tagge) quite nicely.
It's even worse if you call him "Tony"! :p Which I do, when I'm not calling him Admiral Snotty.

Antonio is just the southern European equivalent of Luke :p
I think Earthly names once in a while are amusing. I mean Sato (from Rebels) is also the name of a friend of mine.

Edit: I wonder if we will ever get a Joao, a Tanaka or a Britney in the galaxy far, far away.

I'm reading Twilight Company right now, and there are several Earth names in there for background characters.
