Hah, well, I’m hoping they’d get creative with it. They don’t need to depict what literally happened. They just need to make a game that’s fun.
Likely. This is the Project Maverick that was talked about a few months ago. This was apparently greenlit because EA wanted a new SW game out really soon, so they went ahead with this game instead of other proposed projects that would have taken longer. So, I'd imagine the single player campaign will be short, if there is one. That said, as long as its fun I don't mind if it's reusing assets, etc. I just hope there's a Switch version because I really don't want to sign up for Sony's online service just for this. (It would also allow me to hold out hope for GCN controller support to properly replicate the Rogue Leader experience, even though there's zero chance of that)
The thing that people don't understand about video games is that they have to be engaging to play over anything else--including a stifling, restricting adherence to canon.
But then maybe they should make the games AU to begin with, like TFU:USE or the end of Matrix Revolutions. It feels nice to say a strict adherence to canon is stifling but at the end of the day canon is gonna have to incorporate the games and it will be painful.
Why are U-Wings on box art with fighter sims, they're troop transports dangit. In this level while flying a troop transport try to see how long you last as the TIE Interceptors pick you to pieces. Final level cutscene "We're going down!"
They're classified as ahybrid starfighter/support craft. Though the Alliance modified them into gunships.
I'm thinking about how XWA's big advance was letting you fly freighters with independent turrets and stuff and how U-wings would have been right at home in there.
It'd be pretty fantastic if this will feature Y-wings, U-Wings and other similar craft capable of handling multiple players- ie: a pilot and gunner. I haven't played BF2, but I remember Jedi Starfighter II let you do that with the Havoc. JSF2 also let you paint targets and call down orbital strikes. That should be a mandatory feature in every video game, regardless of genre or franchise. JSF2 and SNES AVP shouldn't be the only ones. Super Mario Bros? Orbital strikes. Sackboy? Orbital strikes. Forza? Orbital strikes. Tetris 99? Orbital strikes. Animal Crossing? You're ***damn right- there should be some monkeyfighting orbital strikes.
I'm also thinking about how Rogue Squadron's boss battle with Moff Seerdon's heavily armed and shielded assault shuttle ends very quickly when you plug three proton torpedoes into his hull
Provided you can even target that piece of ****. Every time I get him in my sight he's already zooming past me again.
I really hope this game allows two player co-op for vehicles like the Snowspeeder or U wing. Also really want a good solid campaign mode.
Hrm, so random guess...but I'm thinking this will probably be War Thunder or World of Warplanes set in the GFFA?
Full trailer Starting to get interested in this - looks like it might be a legitimate good game not some cheesy thing. Overview Looks like you can fly TIE/ln, TIE/sa, TIE/in, and TIE Reapers as Empire and X-wing, A-wing, Y-wing, U-wing as Rebels Spoiler: Images
See those TIE Bombers with the beam cannons? That's a missed opportunity to put in the TIE Experimental M1
Seen in the trailer: Hera Syndulla and Wedge Antilles! Campaign is post-ROTJ, and multiplayer will be cross-platform! Now we're talking. https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-squadrons
Also, finally, a Starhawk are we going to entertain the notion that the Blue Mon Calamari officer is a survived Raddus?
So, crossplay, 5v5, post-ROTJ, NR Vanguard (I think) Squadron vs Imperial Titan Squadron. Now I just need the Starhawk model to get back in stock.
Wait has Wedge always been depicted wearing that same helmet? It looks like the one on the cover of Rebel Dream, but I never really took a close look to see if that's the same as the ones he wore in the movies.
