O.C, CA Star wars Vs Transformers

The trailer was on Pirates.

Hee hee hee.

The huge crowd cheered more for it than for the movie (Pirates).

It was the same trailer as on the web site... but it was still somthing to see it on the big screen.

 

Do not get me started on the trailer.

People are making a big deal about this, it's nothing but a Mars rover trucking along the surface of Mars...you see a shape of what looks like a Transformer for a split second, then the title 'transforms' about endlessly. Crap. Don't get me wrong, I want to see this movie as much as the next guy, but c'mon...the trailer is nothing to get that excited about.

 

I've been looking for a way to describe my feelings about the trailer and Anthony nailed it.

I want this movie to be awesome just like the rest of you do, but the teaser really wasn't that great. Hopefully the movie will turn out to be awesome, but the cynic in me says otherwise. I'll keep my expectations low for now and hopefully be blown away when it comes out.

 

I have great concerns about the movie too. I am concerned about the rumors that I have heard that there will only be 8 robot characters in it (4 Autobots and 4 Decepticons). I am concerned that the writing team is not up for the challange of making the story serious and true to the original idea. I am concerned that Speilberg will not do the nessisary research into the Transformers mythology. I have about a million things going through my head about it.

But when I saw the robot smash the Mars rover... and the title formed on the screen... I was completly taken in!

Granted, I am a bit too much into Transformers. As some of you know, Transformers is to me as Star Wars is to most of you. It is my number one TV/Movie and marketed thing. So yeah... I am a bit over excited. Yes, the trailer was a little tame compared to most. But it is only the teaser. And we have a full year to go before the show comes out... a full year to argue, to give or not to give spoilers (I would rather not have the spoilers by the way).

 

Does any one know if they have any japanese writers for this?

Plus I saw some tidbit on access hollywood that had josh something from 'las vegas' who was dressed like some soldier and by the way it looks the transformers are going to fight the army.

Its suppose to be "robots in disguise," so I didn't think they would do it invasion style like ID4.

Phil knows all about the transformers universe, and his story are really cool

Preview sucked, and the changing title was even lamer. Please don't let this be another mario bros., avengers, or street fighter.

Plus I heard a rumor of a white optimus, wasn't the first ultra magnus white but identical to opt.

From the looks of the trailer, it wouldn't surprise me if they did do it ID4 style. Like Phil said, continuity is about to go out the window. "Their war, our world". Perhaps the autobots will join up with the humans to fight the decepticons. I just hope the rumor of 5 on each side (I read 5 on Coming Attractions, Phil posted 4) is way off. I want to see a screen filled with fighting transformers

It's a video of a white semi-truck transforming into a robot. The first comment lists it as a "test for the movie", but later comments suggest that it's fan made. We probably won't know for a while though.

As I have heard many times (in regaurds to the White Optimus) if that is the true look of the character (which I kinda dont think so) it would be very easy to change the color to red.

Another name I heard was Berny Mac being in it. If he is I hope that he is Jazz. My fear is that they would put him as Prime (give the best character to your highest paied actor?). I lie Mac... but not as Prime. The last thing we need is a smart mouthed Optimus.

"Thier War, Our World" would fit the story line of Transformers. There were two reasons Prime wanted to stay on Earth after they came back on line. One... Megatron would take all of the natural resoaurces of the planet if he were not chalanged. Two... he felt responsible for bringing the Transformer war to Earth and did not feel right to leave the humans to be destroyed by the Decepticons.

I hope that they were not correct in saying that R.C. will be in it. R.C. (if she is in the story) was tied directly in to the Hot Rod story. If they add Hot Rod, they are taking up valuable character spots (especialy if there are only 5 Autobots).

 

I just saw Lordjedi's vid about the white optimus.

It is totally bull. It had to have been done by a film student. It really is cool, but the mechanics of it don't look right, the hands come out of no where if you look real closely. I've seen a lot of commercials over the internet of cars transforming, and when a large production or a big company does it, they pay attention to the mechanics to make it look as real as possible! Case in point (maybe mispelled) look up citrion euro wagon commercial. If I find the link I will post it. I really don't think that white optimus is affiliated to the movie, it was great effort but doesn't fly!

About the white optimus, you can actually see his hands come out of the front headlights. Yes, they're a bit big, but for comparison, it's no different from what ILM did on the Droidekas (they can't actually transform without hitting parts of themselves). Other than that, I don't think it looks that bad for something that's just transforming in the middle of the street. I do agree that it's likely not from the movie though.

As for the citreon commercial, I'd have to say it does look a little more real (the hands are much more proportioned and are actually part of the car), but the dancing really annoys me.

I think the only difference between the two is that the citreon one had more computing power behind it. For all we know though, the same software was used for both.

I think they both look great and I don't really expect Hollywood to pay close attention to where Optimus's hands come from. If my memory serves correctly, the original toy had to have the hands put on whenever he was transformed. I always stored mine in the trailer part so I wouldn't lose them. I would assume they're suppose to pop out from the headlights (I think that's where the cartoon always showed them coming from).

 

The white Optimus is as close to the toy as I could have thought. The only difference is the color. Whit instead of red is the only difference.

Ultra Magnus (his optimus internal part) had more that just the white skin differens (His hands, legs, and head were also white and his gun was completely different).

I strongly feel that this was mearly a test.

As far as the hands comming out of now where... I did not notice until you pointed it out. close 'nuff to fool me. lol.

As far as where to put the fists on the toy... lol... In truck mode I always put them in the cab. They fit perfectly... lol.

 

They better get the change noise down to a tee!

I have seen that Prime pic many many times... cute... but it will not be in the film.

 

The image in the post definitly wont be in the film. The image in the link however is supposed to be what Prime looks like as a truck.

 

...yeah but did you make the transforming sound with your mouth while wearing transformers underoos at this time? i'm not saying i know this because i did it, i'm just saying

 

Never had the underoos, but I made the sounds all the time. I practiced transforming the toys as fast as I could so I could do the sound and have them transformed by the time I was done. I even transformed Optimus in slow motion once mimicking the episode where he's low on charge and can barely transform.

 

Only in this group can we be so honest!

I too made the transforming sound. No underroos. But I would hold some 'epic' battles. The best way I knew how to clean up my toys was, when a robot was 'killed' or 'destroyed' he got neatly put back into the box where he came from.

Now if I can only get the same kind of system for my paper work on my desk at work...

In a few of those images, it looks like the soldiers will be facing down on something (Decepticons?) and then running from explosions (some kind of attack?). Whatever it is, I hope it turns out good

 

News Update

Looks like the flames on OP are there for a reason. I imagine it's a "disguise". They also talk about why he's that kind of truck.

 

I think the reason is kind of lame. The nose of the truck doesn't contribute to Optimus's height. That's all in the wheel area. The chest area is where the nose is and that model truck doesn't look like the nose is that much taller than the "real" truck. The wheel area would have to be considerably longer in order to double the height (which is what they're suggesting).

 

Where is this flaming Optimus pic you guys are talking about.. I cant find it.

Other Star Wars vs. Transformers information...

I now have all of the released Star Wars Transformers. For those of you who do not know... They had released a line of figures that had both Star Wars and Transformers lables on them. There is no true story line to it... but generaly it goes like this...

It is the Star Wars univers. The characters are doing what they did in the movies... but now there vehicals Transform into robot modes.

The figures are currently... Grevious turns into his wheel bike, Darth Vader turns into the Tie Advanced, Luke Skywalker turns into his X-wing, Boba Fett Turns into slave one, Obi Wan Kenobi turns into hie episode three star fighter, Anakin Skywalker turns into his star fighter from episode three, Darth Maul turns into his sith ship from episode one, Han and Chewie combine to form the Falcon, Jango Fett also turns into slave one, Clone Pilot turns into the ARC 170, and the Emporer turns into the empirial shuttle from Episode six.

There should be three more comming out.

It is a fun idea... but I will be okay when the line ends.
