According to the wook, Togruta and Humans have similar life spans. I think max was around 95 years of age?
I just finished this, read it all in two sittings. I’m a little embarrassed that I came in so late to the game, but I’m glad I spent the money on the hardcover. My favorite entries were: Padme—showed her for the tough badass she was in TPM and most of AOTC, as well as giving credit to her political skill. Jyn. Her entry came with this great line: “Oftentimes, Hollywood wants to see a strong woman apologize for not appreciating her life, or dedicate herself to figuring out why she is a certain way. What I love about Jyn is hers is not a story of wishing she’d made other life choices. This isn’t an apology.” Aphra. I’m more interested in her comic series now. Ventress. I did not like the way her story ended in TCW but the entry shed more light and understanding onto her arc in season 5.
Just thought I'd share this. Ashley posted this on her FB, "Her Universe" page; posing with Vanessa Marshall (Hera) and Amy Ratcliffe (WOTG author).
I am going to give big credit to Vanessa as the only one repping the brand. Ashley is wearing Marvel and Amy is wearing Harry Potter. Tsk.
Cute. You know what I meant. Mothership of course. They look like they are out and about. Nice to see their geek flags flying. No matter the fandom.
Reviving this thread from the netherworld of the Force because the ever-reliable Star Wars Upcoming Books and Comics page on Facebook reports that Chronicle Books is giving this book an updated edition, releasing on April 29, 2025. From the publisher: Now in paperback, fully revised and updated with characters from Disney+ shows including The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and The Acolyte, as well as The High Republic, Jedi:Fallen Order, and more, this is the essential celebration of the powerful female characters of Star Wars. They are heroes and villains, Sith and Jedi, senators and scoundrels, mothers, mercenaries, artists, and pilots. The women of the Star Wars galaxy drive its stories and saga forward at every level. This beautifully illustrated, fully authorized book profiles fascinating Star Wars women from across films, fiction, comics, animation, and games. Each character is explored through key story beats, fresh insights, and behind-the-scenes details by author Amy Ratcliffe. Also showcasing more than 125 illustrations by a dynamic range of female and non-binary artists, here is an inspiring celebration of the Star Wars characters that help create a galaxy far, far away. With the original volume offering "over 100" illustrations, I think we can safely assume maybe 25 new entries? Unless some entries are dropped from the original in favor of new characters and/or expanded text reflecting additional development of existing characters (there's quite a bit more that could be said about Ahsoka or Rey or Hera this time out, for example). Losing the hardcover format is unfortunate but I guess they've got to do what they've got to do to keep the price manageable given the increased page count.
I just got the new Updated and Expanded edition early because I preordered it for my job!!! Woo! It's so pretty.
I don't know yet, but here are screenshots of the TOC (I checked, the book isn't street dated so it's not breaking a street date or embargo to talk about it's contents) Spoiler https://ibb.co/YTf8SHqQ https://ibb.co/Y4wGhLtQ https://ibb.co/mCYN3M8R https://ibb.co/1YwYZszF
