They're listed as canon in Wookieepedia, but you're probably right... While there are plenty of military units from the EU that might fit in nicely, there are probably several that stink of the worst sort of "wouldn't it be cool if...?" brand of EU creations. Like Royal Guard TIE Interceptors. A red squint looks cool, but it seems awfully silly to have Royal Guards piloting anything, particularly when we see in ROTJ that they travel in Palpatine's shuttle themselves. No idea if such ships are in those games, it's just an example of something that may not have a place in the new canon...

Finally got this book "The Art and making of TFU" after so many years of putting it off or not getting around to it. A lot of interesting stuff from this book. Jinn was gonna appear at one point, Maris was gonna start off as an outlaw Jedi disguising herself as pirate and using her command of a pirate gang to aid the less fortunate in the galaxy and she has a vendetta against Vader who killed her master but she slowly unknowingly falling to the darkside cause she's not fully trained and her unorthodox upbringing and path she has taken is dark. Juno was gonna be a secret agent working for the Emperor that was a Force wielding assassin. Darth Plagueis was gonna have a large part to play in one concept stage. Also a lot of the Force powers are addressed would answer a lot of questions or gripes, and why Vader could be defeated by his apprentice. Lucas was really into the development of this game, quite extraordinary. Not sure I'm allowed to type out many pages from this book but there is good stuff most people arent aware of. You can really get the impression some of the concepts used or unused were later adapted into TCW and possibly Rebels or future movies even possibly.

One thing I like about the mortis castle symbols is that they kind of fit with the symbols that were marked on Exar Kun and Ulic Qel Dromas foreheads in the Tales of the Jedi series. Maybe some sort of left language used by the Celestials or the beings that brought the Force users to Tython.

I think that there is a good chance they will. Lucas Film Story Group doesn't like throwing things away.

Most of them feel a bit over-the-top...like most of TFU in the first place.

The white skinned one with bald head and red tats is very Inquisitor-like. The rat faced with emo hair one looks rather like Adam Driver. The Vader-esque ones look like where they got Kylo Ren's outfit from. There is a Medieval/Crusader(Assassins Creed?) theme to many of them, the Kylo Ren outfit also appears reminiscent of the Dark Ages, so I do think they're recycling already.

It might work if Filoni does what he does best: get rid of the bad parts of the EU, taking only the good parts from it, embed them into his story and world, and create something new. Like he did with the Mandalorian society.
If Starkiller appears, it probably will be a whole new experience.

I'd like to see elements of TFU included in Rebels, but it needs to be handled in a way that allows for the Ghost crew, Ahsoka, and the other rebels to be included in those plot points. I wouldn't want Starkiller to be in a few episodes and quickly written off.

I don't like that Filoni calls the stormtroopers automatons. I don't think he should write them, he obviously doesn't get why soldiers fight for a dictatorship.

The idea of stormtrooper training "breaking down one's individuality" does have a certain amount of EU precedence though.

As long as they don't do the idiotic clone storyline (because they really dropped the ball with that one), I will be fine if he or another secret apprentice appear in Rebels.

Compared to all the "duty, yea!", "brothers yea", "fighting honor, yea" of the clones, which were motivations and beliefs imprinted on them on Kamino, the stormtroopers are now automatons?

Talk about black and white thinking. Most of the stormtroopers are probably regular Joes who fight for the same reason as any soldier in any regime: To protect the homeland, your comrades, yourself. Some of them might be farmboys like Luke Skywalker who are seeking their luck offworld. Some of them may be slackers who want to do an easy job that doesn't require much of them.

That Filoni calls them automatons does not compute, especially when it is Filoni himself who showed the stormtrooper cadets as regular humans, individuals.

True - whatever process, if any, does it, it would have to take place after the cadet stage.

In Rise of the Rebels, a point was made of how they think school bullies make the best stormtroopers, when we get a look inside the heads of the stormtroopers Sabine is dodging in the Art Attack short.

There's probably some brainwashing going on, just like in Hitler youth, but there is one thing to remember: Even those were still individuals. There is no switch on a person that makes them suddenly become an automaton.

Filoni simply didn't think it through very well - or maybe he wants us to see things a certain way so that certain Rebels characters can get away with slaughtering the stormtroopers in droves. No hard feelings when an opponent is "just" an automaton, right?

If they use him as an Inquisitor, it would be cool to see the Ghost crew help turn him somehow. I'd like his storyline to end with him falling back to the light.
