I liked the way you ended this. I think that Anakin definitely gave Vader something to think about. And yet it's tragic, I almost like the way that it changed nothing- that Anakin did end up falling down the stairs due to Vader's pull and that he won't remember anymore. And now I feel bad for them both...

Daath: At your service, ma'm! I'll continue then. :p

Jeditheskyisblue: Thanks! That was a very nice thing to say! I do try hard. [face_blush] To be truthful though, I seem to remember one or two time-travel fics where Anakin and Vader met up.

Alethia: Thanks! That is probably ultimately the best possible outcome, that Anakin does take this trip to the dark side, and that Vader finds the way back.

Wouldn't it be fun though, to explore the possibilities if Vader had said he was Anakin's father, and if Anakin had believed it? [face_mischief] Perhaps there would have been several very interesting conversations.

But those are not for me to write.

    Best!

Truly awesome insight into our guy Anakin. He really did need a little more motivation to save Luke in ROTJ than GL showed us. I bet this was it.

I certainly felt sad for Anakin/Vader while reading this story, yet it is one I will fondly remember. Do you have more surprises like this one to offer us ? :)

As always I'm in love with your stories :D

Great idea - and of course perfect characterization ("both" of them were perfect ;) )

Oddly my favorite was this line: "...what in Hutt-spit had he been thinking, staring agape at the mirror like a Rodian in a Wookiee zoo?" Well-well, the long years of Jedi and Sith teachings and two dedicated masters combined efforts (to make him a cultured Galactic citizen) are sometimes in vain and that first nine years come back with vengence... :D

"...his need to belong and his hunger for someone who was truly his..." Very wise and really summerize the man.

:D I loved it- you should write stories more often :D

Hey, Lady Z, it is nice to see you here! :)

Vader's hunger was inspired by a very interesting sentence in ROTJ novelization. I think it was the Endor scene where Luke said "Let go of your hate," and Vader (thought) something like this: He didn't hate at all. He only lusted too much.

I'm quoting from memory, but I'm more or less sure the main terms were like that (hate vs lust). I'm not even getting to the gutter interpretations of this; the nice, clean interpretations are inspiring enough. This is one of the things that has been with me whenever I write Vader.

Also, it allows for some variety in the range of emotions that define a Sith. Usually it is hate, anger, rage, wrath. And greed, yes. But there is also LUST. And not in the carnal sense. It is a desire somewhat similar to greed, but still different. I think, maybe, if greed is associated with possessing, you want to own something for the sake of possessing it, then lust is just for the sake of acquiring, as in, you are interested not in the goal itself but in the process of getting there? Don't know, this is too deep a philosophy for my one-track brain.
