..barely a few seconds, the next shot might be Finn destroying it like Obi-Wan cut Maul's saber in two in TPM.
Which was one of my points, why make something lightsaber proof if there aren't anybody carrying lightsabers? I'm pretty sure they wouldn't make it lightsaber proof because the KoR have lightsabers.
Maybe it's shielded for other reasons but just happens to be lightsaber-proof. Like the shield contains emitted radiation that would kill the person wielding the weapon. Or something.
I think the staff is just a glorified cattle prod used to subject disruptive citizens to painful torture, i'm just exploring ideas really but there was speculation that Phasma may use a lightsaber....could this be significant?
Makes you think why there are lightsaber proof melee weapons with no Jedi around for at least 10 years if not more.
I don't think the intent was to be lightsaber proof. I think they said... hey, this electrostaff tech can be great for crowd control... and thus just using the same tech just happened to also make it lightsaber proof. It's existing tech in the universe just re-purposed, but still effective in it's original purpose. Why does ANY tech in existence only have to serve a single purpose, and any other is considered overkill... when in reality, all tech is used in the real world in every way it could possibly be used in the first place.
I think this is the best view yet of what the stormie's 'electro-tonfa' (used in the clip above) looks like.
Nazi Storm Troopers carried batons to beat people with, but not kill them. Why wouldn't a First Order Stormtrooper have similar tools to oppress the masses with, without killing them outright?
So that's my question: what crowd are they trying to control somewhat non-lethally when Finn goes after one with a saber. Could be an interesting scene.
Will definitely be interesting. I love seeing things effectively expanded into roles we have yet to witness, even though we know deep down there had to be some of them in this function already. Just like when we got the expansion to snow troopers and scout troopers in their fighting force, now we see Riot troopers and Flame troopers as well.
The thing is, it seems that everyone knows Luke is still alive. He's being treated as the First Orders #1 enemy, so it'd make sense that they'd have some kind of protective measure.
And they end up fighting against Finn. Aren't you a little short to be Luke Skywalker? By the way, I expected someone with your reputation to be older.
