Krennic: "But farming? Really? A man of your talents?"
Deathtrooper 3: "I grew up on a farm, dickwad."

    "What's going on?"
"Probably just another drill. Oops, pardon me, just outgassing."

I'd like to see stormtroopers kick more ass in future movies instead of being the typical cannon fodder.

In the beginning, two stayed behind to guard Krennic's shuttle. Then there is no need to stay behind while at an Imperial base.

8 D troopers makes sense to me since that is the standard size off an infantry squad that is composed of two fire teams of 4.

    my brother got me this.
it's awesome. the whole thing is leather/fake leather. it has raised markings all over and around the back and the imperial insignia pressed inside the bill.

    I think it's nine.

Nine mortal troopers, doomed to die.

I know this isn't important...but can anyone confirm whether the Death Troopers had a scene aboard the Death Star?? I remember a picture where they are flanking Krennic and was wondering whether the scene got cut...

I'm pretty sure they were never seen on the Death Star, no.

Could it just have been a promotional picture you saw?

No it was definitely in a mag...unless it was onboard the Star Destroyer where he first speaks with Tarkin?

I was kind of wondering why does Krennic get these awesome Death Troopers everywhere he goes, but Tarkin seems to have no personal guard? Even Vader has his red guards, which are seemingly the same type of elite unit Palpatine has as well. One of my favorite little touches that you notice after seeing the movie a few dozen times nearly is the little hand motion Krennic makes when he walks away from Tarkin to his two Death Trooper guards, like basically, "Moving out, follow me." I just think it makes him seem so cool, always having these two elite bodyguards with him. But it did raise the question, wouldn't a higher ranking official like Tarkin also have these guards or is it less necessary because Tarkin is always aboard Imperial bases and large command ships? Or something? Now I want a cool white cape and two elite bodyguards following me wherever I go. :p

Well I think Tarkin would refuse guards. He is the type to stand out in the open and show how little fear he has. This is the man who stayed on the DS during the Battle of Yavin.

You make a good point. It makes a lot of sense though for high level officers like Krennic to have an elite guard unit, because he has so much inside knowledge that can't be exposed to the galaxy around him. I mean, he could just have Stormtroopers around him, but... why? They are kind of mediocre lol.

Kind of an odd question, does anybody have any idea what the average height of the Death Trooper is?

Yup. And Krennic's also a bit of an insecure outsider looking to prove himself. A new money Imperial, if you will, trying hi make his way among the old money establishment. And so he overcompensates with over the top personal guards (which also reflect his insecurity), and his cape. A little more showy than the average stiff upper lip Imperial.

I personally got Half-Life vibes from the Death Troopers. ;)

The stormtroopers did get gunned down a lot but at least they claimed their share of redshirts, and overall weren't the total jokes Rebels had them.

Well shoot, I'm 5'8, and I figure it would look kind of stupid and stumpy being that height and trying to cosplay as a Death Trooper. At the very least I want to buy the Death Trooper Anovos Helmet, but I'm even weary about looking stumpy just by wearing that. I was hoping it was camera angles and whatnot in the movie and that they weren't actually as tall as they appear. Any other kind of Imperial trooper or pilot anybody can get away with cosplaying as. But I did some reading on the Death Troopers and apparently even in universe only the tallest ones were selected. Imagine lining up for a picture alongside fellow Death Trooper cosplayers and being the only short one.

I'm surprised the Hover Tank pilots aren't getting more love...what a great design? Out of curiosity, did anyone catch who were driving (piloting?) the AT-AST's and the AT-ST's?

Yeah, and I can't imagine there would be many situations where there'd be a bunch of them (not like regular stormtroopers, for example).
