Tosin Abasi had this custom 8 string from Strandberg:



He now has an Ibanez signature model which is basically the bog standard Ibanez design, albeit with the wider neck for the lower 2 strings. Abasi tunes the bottom 2 down to an E (same octave as a bass) and a B and leaves the rest in EADGBE.
