Thanks to DVader for the early heads up on next season's location.

"Survivor" will take a break from anonymous island settings when it moves to China next fall.

Confirming a story first reported in several online venues, Variety is saying that "Survivor 15" will take place somewhere mysterious in mainland China.

This will be the first "Survivor" outside of an island environment since "Survivor: Amazon," the show's sixth installment.

The trade paper says that filming an entire season of an American network TV show will be precedent-setting for China and part of the ongoing loosening of government restrictions on U.S. entertainment projects in the country.

The finale of "Survivor: Fiji," the show's latest installment, will take place in New York City on Sunday, May 13.

For anyone curious, here are the past Survivor threads (all started by myself, except where noted):

    Survivor 3: Africa
Survivor 4: Marqeusas (*started by TripleB)
    Survivor 5: Thailand
    Survivor 6: The Amazon
    Survivor 7: Pearl Islands
    Survivor 8: All Star Survivor
Survivor 9: Vanuatu - Islands of Fire
    Survivor 10: Palau
Survivor 11: Guatemala - The Mayan Empire
Survivor 12: Panama - Exile Island
    Survivor 13: Cook Islands
    Survivor 14: Fiji

    (the threads for S1 & S2 have been dropped off :( )

There's nothing red about China; there's something hilarious in watching Americans collide head-on with Chinese culture though. It just won't bend to their rules. ;)

    Django; dui ma? :p

Heh, thanks for the credit, dude.

Anyway, Im definitely intrigued for next season. The locale alone should make things very interesting, and like Im sure many of you are, Im pleased to finally be getting away from islands.

Finally. I'm looking forward to this. When they say in China though, I hope its deep within the valleys and not on the coast. But still, China!

If they provide info to the contestants or audience about the deification of Guan Yu and his brothers, I'll puke...

Thanks for that, dude. I didnt watch the reunion after the winner was announced so I missed the preview.

BTW, I wonder if the edition after China will be a second All-Star edition, possibly featuring players from Vanuatu and beyond ? The reason I was wondering is because after China, seven seasons will have passed since the first All-Stars (which is hard to believe), and All-Stars was the seventh version of Survivor, so...

Good question. But if they did do another all-stars, who would be in it? Here's my pics of the people from S9 - 14:

    Chris Daugherty (Vanuatu)
Bobby Jon Drinkard (Palau & Guatemala)
    Stephenie LaGrossa (Palau & Guatemala)
    Ian Rosenberger (Palau)
    Gary Hogeboom (Guatemala)
    Shane Powers (Panama: Exile Island)
    Nathan "Nate" Gonzalez (Cook Islands)
    Oscar "Ozzy" Lusth (Cook Islands)
    Yul Kwon (Cook Islands)
    Earl Cole (Fiji)
    Yau-Man Chan (Fiji)

Weird, only really memorable woman from the past 6 seasons was Stephanie. Most of the rest kinda blended together. Either way though, Ozzy would do it in a heartbeat, and would probably win.

Hmm, pretty much agree with that whole list. Maybe they'd throw in Rory from Vanautu, or maybe Jonathan from Cook Islands. I also think that Tom from Palau and Terry from Panama would be considered, too.

As far as the women go, like you say, not too many memorable names in the lastest editions beyond Stephanie. Maybe they'd add Amy or Twila from Vanautu and possibly Danni from Guatamala, if only because she won and she's hot.

What about Cirie, Terry and that dude who talked on his "cell phone" from Palau? I forget his name...

I'd love to see Johnny Fairplay and Yau on the same team.

How could I forget Jonathan? That guy was great to watch.

Won't see Fairplay again, he was in the first 7 seasons. And he's super pissed at CBS for not putting him in the first All Stars.

I'm not sure why he wasn't on the original All-Stars actually, he really should have been.

TMZ.com reports that Ashley Massaro will be taking time off from WWE to take part in CBS's next season of Survivor in China next month. The word backstage among the wrestlers is that she will be leaving for that reason and that is why she was "suspended" on Smackdown last week.

Of all the professional wrestlers they could have picked, why did they pick the one with the least amount of talent? Not to mention she makes plenty of money between WWE and Playboy as it is...

Also I'm getting tired of current and former WWE stars showing up on reality television shows. I understand why they show up on Dancing With The Stars and the Surreal Life, because those shows are for the mini-celebs. But now they're invading the shows that aren't about jobber celebs but instead the average joes.
