    Alright folks, you asked for it, you got it!

    SIDESHOW 12" JEDI KNIGHT LUKE SKYWALKER

    [image=http://smicketysmom.bravepages.com/Erika%20stuff/SS%20Luke/SS%20Luke.JPG]

    A long time ago in a toy galaxy far, far away there was a time of revolution, when toy companies attempted to capture the exact likeness of that heroic Jedi Knight, Luke Skywalker. First was Kenner. Back in 1978 they released a figure that, IMO, always had the closest representation of Mark Hamill's likeness...until today. Hasbro spent many years attempting to capture Mark's rugged appearance and always managed to just come short.

    Sideshow truly reigns supreme!

    Box Images

    Mine arrived w/ the back right corner slightly smashed - it's a good thing I can care less about boxes.

    Front of Box
    Back of Box
    Box unfolded

    The great thing w/ Luke's packaging, they put plastic covers over the figure so there were no twist ties or rubber bands holding him in!

    Pretty amazing how far the 12" has travelled since the 70's, I must admit I do not think much to the actual stands you get with him maybe theirs an alternative.

    Do you reckon though after recieving luke that it can quite easily make you want the others??

    But anyway....

    Sideshow send me that email to say payment will be taken soon I want you to take my money :mad:

    Luke spends most of ROTJ with a contemplative, puzzled expression on his face. I absolutely LOVE SideShow's interpretation of his face. Not only is it actually EXPRESSIVE, but it really captures his essence from the film.

    All you have to do is look at this wallpaper that I made, there were many moments where his mouth was semi-open.

    [image=http://webzoom.freewebs.com/padmeleiajaina/Wallpapers/Jedi%20Luke%20copy.jpg]

    I look at my picture of the SS Luke versus all of the other Lukes that came before him and other than the original Kenner and the goofy OTC smiling versions, the rest have him molded w/ completely dull, bland faces.

    The SS Luke just completely stands out because he's not only different, but he's so highly detailed. The mouth being slightly open also just shows the high levels of craftsmanship that SS artists are able of achieving.

    [image=http://smicketysmom.bravepages.com/Erika%20stuff/SS%20Luke/Luke%20Evolutions.JPG]

    If I had any cons on the figure it would be these 2 things.

    1) The boots. His boots are plastic. I wish that they'd put the extra effort into making them leather.

    2) The Clothing Seams. Every piece of his clothing, when assembled and put on him look fantastic, however the seams are rough. They are folded over and then the pieces are sewn together leaving rough edges of fabric to fray on the inside of the fabric right by the insides seams. I wish they'd double folded over the fabric. This is a bit of detailing that is difficult on this scale of figures, but it's not impossible. Mattel's highest end dolls always have completely finished seams on every piece of clothing.

    Check this thread out. It looks like Sideshow's running a sculpture contest and whoever wins could win a chance to work there!

    Amazing entries so far! There are some seriously talented SW artists out there!

    Thanks for the iside look PadmeLeiaJaina!!

    I love the options of hood, vest, glove, bone, saber etc.
    The wire on the hood sounds fantastic.
    It was also cool to see the comparison of "12in Lukes through the years"

    You dont happen to know how I can move up the Sideshow waitlist, do you??:p

    There seems to be a fair few people complaining about the figure and even someone has mentioned if it's easy to pull the head off and put it on a different body.
    I know someone has made a modification to the elbow joints as the arms seem to be too long which from the photos they do look abit long but I cannot make a judgement on something I have not got.
    I think to be honest people should be giving feedback to sideshow about certain aspects of the doll to be honest with you if I was attending a recent convention and knew sideshow was there I would take luke with me and show them for myself.

    The Sideshow bodies do look a little boxy, especially after you've been used to years of looking at uber-beefed up Joe bodies from Hasbro.

    If you're referring to people over at RS, those folks do NOTHING but complain about anything and everything. Yes, SS bodies aren't perfect, then again, who really cares????

    They have, by far, the best head sculpts, create the best clothing, and put the most attention to detail to costuming that I've only seen this side of Mattel.

    I've seen closeup shots of the Medicom Luke and the fabric they used for that $175 figure is CHEESY, not to mention the head sculpt looks nothing like Luke.

    Sure you can have bodies that articulate at every point - but ultimately they end up looking like pieces of a puzzle all thrown together and nowhere near resemble the human form. Instead they look like cybernetic creations.

    You can take this 21st Century Soldier toy that I'm selling for a hint on that:

    [image=http://smicketysmom.bravepages.com/Action%20Figures/GI%20Joes/21st%20Century%20Soldier.JPG]

    Frankly, I don't know about you, but my Luke, Anakin, etc are not going to be displayed w/o clothing. If I want a sleepless, bedhead Ani, I'll use my own custom Mattel version. I'm buying these figures for what they look like fully dressed, not naked.

    I understand that SS is looking on how to make a female body that doesn't show joints, so that they can make an Aayla or Slave Leia, perhaps they'll start thinking about coming up w/ a new solution for their male dolls as well.

    Yes I am on about them over RS I do find out alot of information about collectables but sometimes they do complain too much about items and go over board sometimes, I mean to me collecting is a hobby people have particular hobby's cause they see it as a way to relax and enjoy themselves, you do not see fisherman standing there standing round a lake complaining and shouting at the water cause the fish did not take the bait.
    Another point is yes they are their dolls to be altered in somewhat way but I find it bad if you pretty much slate someones work of art off then just tamper with it.
    I cannot wait to get my luke 12" and put his cloak on with him holding his blaster, I know one thing I am going to regret is that I wish I preordered the rest of them.

    Heres a question anyway do you think when they come down to doing a vader 12" with removeable helmet will they do a ep3 vader with burnt anakin and just use the head sculpt from the recent anakin or will they use sebastien shaw's head??
    I reckon they should use sebastien's head just for the sheer fact that with the shocking face luke has on the jedi knight doll it would work well together.
