My theory is that he's being set up by Dedra and later will be accused to be part of the rebellion. If find some redemption is up in the air.

The nonstop panicked look on Syril’s face is a source of endless amusement.

The poor lad looks like he’s perpetually five seconds away from a panic attack [face_laugh]

I’m halfway thru ep 3, the face he makes at Dedra after his mom walks away is priceless =D=

I know he is little weasel, but I can’t help but feel a tinge bad for him [face_laugh]

Now I'm getting flashbacks to that Monty Python German special.

Woah. Now that we've seen Willmon and the ridonium plot, and the trailers show that he's on Ghorman in the next arc, I wonder if ridonium is used on Ghorman, and that's what Dedra is choking on, as she seems to be in the same safe room Syril was in...on Ghorman.

If people struggled with a sexual assault scene, having the Empire go full Zyklon-B on a population of stand-ins for "French Resistance" and merchant communities who they want to displace will be an absolute pummeling.

    The Spider obviously.
I think Syril will die, the way I don't know. Probably stupid way trying to be hero. I think that is what he is trying all the time. To be hero, respectable, useful to society, doing his part for common good, but he is only being used.

If the law said throw yourself off a tall building, Syril would.

Seriously, I am expecting either Syril or Dedra to be stationed on the Death Star by the time the series ends.

Everything finally came crashing down for Syril. All he had left was his hatred for Cassian, and in that moment he saw him he was doomed.

Just, great writing for such a complex character.

Complex, but doomed by his simplicity.

Had the chance to grow, to even just admit reality, and collapsed back into a feral thug.

"Who are you?" Really highlighted their divergent paths since Morlana One

The way his hair was more unkempt in this arc, signifying the unraveling of his worldview. Top notch detail.

That confrontation with Dedra was intense! How am I supposed to feel about it? I'm disturbed.

And that final: "Who are you?" from Cassian, giving him pause. It mirrors the final Bix and Dr. Gorst interaction. Syril has obsessed over Cassian Andor for YEARS. And Cassian has no idea who Syril is. Ultimately, he is nobody.

    I love this show.

Oh Syril, you idiot. He couldn’t get past his obsession with Cassian to get even a little redemption and in the end Cassian doesn’t even know who he is. A fitting end.

Syril isn't a good person, but he is a great character. One of the best arcs in all of Star Wars.

Karn in episode eight standing in the middle of the chaos swirling all around him symbolizing the emotional chaos he was experiencing at that same moment was great.

Also, Cassian asking Syril, "who are you" and seeing the look on Syril's face was hands down one of my favorite moments in the whole series.

I don’t think he was a bad dude in the end. Just horribly misguided and naive. Feel bad for him.

I had conflicting feelings about the scene. It felt like Syril was finally getting it, and then it seems he does a step backward, saving Dedra's life and trying to kill Andor as in season 1. Though, he is indeed a bit of an idiot, so it does fit after all.

I think Syril is just pathologically thick. He just can't overcome his unconscious mommy and daddy neuroses.

He's stunned to learn that he's been a pawn and in a daze he's lost every sense of who he is. He thought he was fighting for law and order, but he was too dumb to realize that an Empire has nothing to do with law; it's just an instrument of force.

But now, just like his parents, his supplemental daddy (the Empire) and mommy have used him even worse than his own family.

The only thing he has left is Andor. But then right before he dies, he might suddenly realize his error. Or he's just (in my view) had his mental bell rung by Andor's question: Who are you?

There's no answer to this ultimately because what he thought he was is a fantasy.

Credit where it's due, at least he was still trying to stand up for law and order to the last day of his life. Blind and misguided for sure, but plenty of misplaced dedication to the cause.

I think I would've liked to see a scene in episode 7 where the Ghormans explain when they learned or what happened that confirmed to them that Syril was a traitor. There's definitely enough scenes to put 2 and 2 together, but would've been nice to know exactly what went down considering how eager they were to include him in episodes 4-6.

There's nothing inherently ethical about law and order, or standing up for them.
