Usually I wouldn't buy the DVD again, even with extra stuff. But this time, the extra sounds like it's worth it. So it's sold.

I have the Ultimate Edition Region 2, and it doesn't let you choose from Theatrical Cut and Extended Version but I must say that the Extended cut is better. The scene with Kyle Reese among other things makes it more of T1's sequel, and just expands on things very well.

I have the original DVD release of T2 (which I've kept since it has that audio description feature which is a unique oddity worth holding onto), the Ultimate Edition DVD (which is still the best version to buy) and I plan to nab the Extreme Edition tommorow.

Only reason Im getting the EE is because of the commentary track and the higher picture quality (so I can view the film in it's best quality on my future HDTV one day [face_batting] ).

    >>There's only so much "deleted" scene material out there, and the T2:UE covers it all.<<

Well, technically, there are a couple minor bits of deleted scenes that doesn't appear in the film or are presented by themselves- though you can see them in the various trailers. (for example, the one between Sarah and the T-800 in the police car: Sarah-"Can it be destroyed?", T- "Unknown.")

I bought T2 Extreme on Wednesday. I think it was worth buying personaly. The menus are similar to the Ultimate Edition but are still very cool. The remaster video, I didn't really notice. The strong point was the new commentary. With Cameron in the right speaker and Bill Wisher in the left. In my opinion it's very good, one of the best commentaries. One of the funniest things I thought about it was that Cameron keeps interupting Bill right when he tries to make a point, haha! But you can tell they're really good buddies.

The only problem I had was getting the DVD out of the darned metal case. I ripped and teared until it came free.

I'm reasonably sure that's in the T2:UE extended edition, at least the "easter egg" version which includes the alternate ending intercut into the film.

I seem to remember that line pretty clearly. I might be wrong, but I'm too lazy to pop in my own DVD and check. ;)

To access the Special Extended Edition of T2 on the Ultimate Edition DVD, on the main menu, select the Special Edition menu, then enter on your DVD remote keypad 8, 2, 9, 9, 7 (8/29/97 aka Judgement Day).

When entered properly, the numbers will appear on the screen in the place of the weird alphanumerics displayed in a grided box on the menu.

This will enable access to the Special Extended Edition, which reincorporates the scene of the T-1000 in John Connoro's room, as well as utilizing the "Future Coda" alternate ending instead of the regular "unknown future rolls towards us" of the Theatrical and Special Editions.

Sweetness. I hope it works. I have an Xbox but I don't know if that matters. But when I tried to do the 1138 to see the bloopers on Star Wars Episode One and Episode Two DVDs it didn't work.

Ok, it didn't work I tried just about everyway to do it (I went to dvd.ign.com to see ways to do it). But I did notice that when i press play the word THE shows up but thats it. And when I press play again it plays the movie. So I don't know what up with that.

The word "THE" is supposed to show up. As you press each of the numbers (82997), the words THE FUTURE IS NOT SET should appear on the right side, and when all the words are present, the T-800's other eye should light up and the extended version should become available.

Well all I am getting is a THE. Keep in mind that I'm using an XBOX but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. But like I posted earlier the 1138 code for Episodes One and Two doesn't work.

I just bought this new T2 dvd and I have to say that it's pretty great. Altough it is the same as the last T2 dvd [face_plain]

I think it would have been more appropriate to call this a Superbit release or something, as, beyond the audio and video enhancements, DVD-ROM material not withstanding, there are very little extras at all on this set (not even trailers!), merely a 24 minute documentary on T2's place in digital effects history (something, while interesting, has been more or less covered before a thousand times over on T2: Ultimate Edition and even other non-terminator DVDs- though the inclusion of Peter Jackson and TTT footage adds something new to the mix at least) and an 8 minute reel of on-set footage taken that shows a couple bloopers and stuff between takes- something that, admitedly, is fun to watch, as you get to see some of the cast and crew personalities, and get to see Cameron in action, which is always a joy to witness.

Also like how the DVD menus play off the same themes as the ultimate edition (using a T-1000 for disc one instead of an Endoskeleton, and showing part of a Skynet defensive perimeter before entering the pyramid again for disc two).

So, it's really more like a "Disc 3" for the Ultimate Edition, since nothing besides the movie itself is repeated between the two sets.

Gonna check out the Cameron track in a couple days, maybe see if the Hi-def film plays on a mac, even if I don't have surround sound for it[face_batting]

I've been curious about the "Build your own Terminator" feature on the Extreme Edition DVD - what IS that, and what's it like?

Yep, according to Amazon.com's page for the T2 Extreme Edition DVD, it lists:

"Skynet Combat Chassis Designer: Construct and field-test your own ultimate fighting machine and track your progress online"

I was wondering about this. Obviously a cheap attempt at a cash in.

Judging by the DVD-ROM content trailer on disc 2, it's looks like you can essentially photoshop a face into a terminator model or something- not sure exactly though.

That isn't it. That's something different. According to Amazon.com (same link I posted above), that's listed as:

"Infiltration Unit Simulator and T2 FX Studio: morph your imported images into a T-1000 or T-800 Terminator"

On a sidenote, a highlight of the Cameron commentary track:

::just after Arnie says "I'll be back"::

Cameron: "What do you think? Think that's better than 'She'll be back'? ::chuckles:: Just polling the group..."

Not like Cameron's a master of dialogue or anything, mind you.

    "He was my college roommate."
    "Let's bust a move."

    Both from 'T2:3D'. :p

and for the record, the "She'll be back" line isn't actually IN T3. Of course, he probably didn't realize that.
