I once heard it said that Filoni tells Star Wars stories about Star Wars and not Star Wars stories about characters.

Which actually explains the Ahsoka show

We do see her looking remorseful over the deaths caused by her plans. In fact, it was the first clue that she was the Jedi responsible for it. The Force Choke moment in the interrogation, we didn't see Barriss at all because it was supposed to be a mystery for the audience.

My impression is that Barriss impulsively escalated the situation to get the heat off her back. And each impulsive move to survive slowly made her more ruthless and cold-hearted until she's no longer distinguishable from an Inquisitor in her fight against Ahsoka in the 3rd episode of the arc.

And survival is a key word for Barriss in this new story.

Hell yeah, It would be awesome if Katie Lucas wrote some of this stuff. A side story within the "Massacre"!

And the continuation of Barris' story. Do we have to wait for May 4th? Last time I checked Its the Forth Force Month.

Barris was a foil for Ahsoka from her first appearance onward. The Clone Wars may be an anthology but when I watch it all together back to back the overarching narratives are there. In "Weapons Factory" when they are trapped in the tank. Ahsoka hands Barriss her lightsaber which is a "light of hope" and the last to go out while Barriss is hopeless. She went through the same war Ahsoka did and it messed her up. She questioned the role the Jedi played in the war while pretending she wasn't while eating with Ahsoka in "Brain Invaders". She didn't hesitate to use deadly force right away and run a Clone through the chest in "Brain Invaders". At the end of season 5, Barris knew exactly what she was doing manipulating Ahsoka. I think she was already gone then.

Sadly, it seems rather possible that Luminara is going to be (even more) vilified in this series, especially considering TCW season 7.

This looks awesome! Barriss is one of the characters I could have guessed would feature in this, but Morgan is a complete surprise... as is the Tales of the Empire of course. They are both good choices, with potential for interesting stories. Plus Vader, Thrawn, the Grand Inquisitor etc.! Can't wait. :D

I still don’t know if the 35 to 45 minutes of content will get from this for Barriss will be enough to convince me that she should become an inquistor

Not really, she is regretful even when she speaks about her actions to Ahsoka's trial. And her last episode is probably years later as an experienced Inqusitor. First episode right after ROTS and last episode probably after Bad Batch show.

He can't let go of attachments to characters from a show 16 years ago in 2008.

You either get people like Dave Filoni too attached or RJ/Tony Gilroy risk takers.

I’m just curious what the hell he would make with another Star Wars film. I don’t think lucasfilm is confident enough in the sequels to try and get him for another film now though

Judging by the Grand Inquisitor stuff, they will radicalise her. She could be redeemed and being Disney Star Wars, she probably will be but it isn’t guaranteed, especially if she ends up being the one to knock off her own master in cold blood.

Outside the Skywalker saga, he wanted to go all new in his announced Trilogy.
in all trailer shoots of her, she seems to not want to do this. Instead of attack, she defends. Sure we will see her radicalised but i think she will break free of it. Yes her killing her master will Doom her, i think her master is dead.

The reason they liked him so much in the first place was that he was by far the easiest director to work with.

I'd love to know the boardroom reasoning behind investing millions to try and snag the 'Morgan Elsbeth backstory' demographics.

It’s for the hardcore CW/Filoni fans who’ll just watch anything from that camp, like Bad Batch. It doesn’t really matter who it’s about.

Lmao, its a hell of alot more simple then that.

Morgan herself doesn't have to be a draw, she happens to be a perfect vector for things that are. Nightsisters, Grevious at his most cool and competent (with his amazing and barely used TCW7 model) Young Thrawn, the potential for Ventress or Merrin cameos. Those are all massively popular things with big draws that Morgan is a perfect launch point to have all at once in the same story.

Same reason why Fennec Shand is in Bad Batch. Because that character is in another Disney live-action show. No other reason. People watching live-action might feel the incentive to check out Bad Batch/Tales of the Empire. People watching animation will check out live-action if they hadn't already, to check out more of that character's story. This is the Marvelization of Star Wars. Same thing with Ventress: they just brought her back somehow, with no explanation whatsoever, and then outright say that "it will be explained in another story." Obviously, it benefits Disney+, to keep people subscribed and force them to check out more content if they want to get a complete story. The story at hand suffers, but the story at hand rarely seems to matter: it is all a setup for the next thing, more content.
As far as Morgan Elsbeth goes, at least her story seems to be more interesting than whatever Fennec Shand gave us in Bad Batch. Now Fennec is utterly bland, boring, and could have been replaced with any other bounty hunter. It is kinda baffling to me that Boba Fett is nowhere in Bad Batch, but Fennec Shand is.

Also I don’t think it’s that deep. This costs about 7 million dollars. Which is chump change to Lucasfilm. Animation is a lot easier to justify than live action cause it’s just cheaper. And they get a theatrical length product out of that 7 million dollars.

this assumes that we go with that average price of a TCW episode. But I have a feel ing that animation costs have gone down not up. At least for this animation style. Or they generate enough subscriber retention on Disney plus to make using TCW’s animation style more worth it compared to using something we know was cheaper such as Rebels or Resitance.
