If none of the anthology shorts touch on the Old Republic, that’s definitely high level trolling on LFL’s part.
Nonsense. Ahsoka will be retconned into the original comic series. They will bring back legends for a day just so they can put Ahsoka into that comic.
Yes, that stood out to me too. Why ape the comics so exactly if it isn't going to be related to that? ....Course, I suppose an anthology could still be focused on the Old Republic. I mean, given the golden age of the sith takes place a thousand years before the rest of TOTJ and Redemption decades after, an anthology approach might work best for such stories. But I probably shouldn't get my expectations up and just focus on what is rather than what could be.
Tales of the Jedi could have always been more than it was. Veitch and Anderson stuck with their characters, but it always could have been an ongoing anthology series. I think that would have been a little bit more fun, actually. The conceit was always that the stories of Ulic and Nomi were being learned from the Tedryn holocron that Leia recovered from Byss. I am glad they are taking up that name and making it what the title implies and never quite fully realized. It was always the tales of some Jedi, but not "the Jedi" writ large. Shoot, Golden Age of the Sith wasn't even really about Jedi. It was about the Daragons and Naga Sadow. Don't expect Ulic Qel-Droma, Nomi Sunrider or Exar Kun. We might be able to expect some Old Republic, High Republic etc. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
@Dawud786 The comics always felt like they were somewhat anthology in nature in some ways despite telling an overacting story. So i agree in this nature.
I dont think Dark Lords of the Sith or The Sith War were anthologies at all. The first 5 issues, and arguably The Freedon Nadd Uprising could be kind of an anthology, but it was clearly running headlong into being a single unified story. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Well no but it was a story told in chunks. So maybe once that stuff was done and they didn't switch to KOTOR right away i could have seen a whole different direction where Tales of the Jedi goes.
If Exar Kun is canonized, will him inventing the double-bladed lightsaber get more emphasis in light of Maul’s popularity?
you might be more right than you mean. Ahsoka was in the world between worlds and we know you can time travel there….. oh boy. That is awful. I wonder if they will do that, or use it as a framing device.
Sure why not...Just to make people mad i'll be happy ;p Star Wars needs to get more nuts. I mean though...Maybe just looking at portals and watching stories like the watcher.
I’m uncertain about the legality of Nomi Sunrider’s name and that whole copyright saga, but I’d certainly like to see at least Exar Kun show up. I think if you’re going to use the name and branding then the least you can do is some acknowledgment of the Legends concept. Even if the show itself is mostly going to be Prequel/Sequel/High Republic eras, a token episode or two covering the old republic would go a long way.
I mean Tales of the Jedi is a good title even if it hasn't nothing to do with the comics. You want Jedi you want Tales where there you go
Maybe but I can see them being like "Well the amount of people watching this probably haven't read nor care about the comic" especially if it becomes a big thing and making that bet. Or As you say...This is some A+ trolling and I myself am here for it. Or Third option: There will be a reference to the comic...I mean we got Clone Palpatine and Dark Empire references so anything is possible
I think…if they’re trolling, then they’re inviting a toxic reaction and backlash. At a certain point if you want to antagonise the fandom, then you better be prepared to have your social media become a digital Chernobyl. So I hope they’re smarter than that.
I mean they not be that savvy I could see Now if Lucas were still in charge I could see this being a “I like the title I don’t care about the reaction” thing
If it was Lucas yeah, but the current people involved with story group, Filoni etc aren’t exactly as ignorant of the EU and how people feel about it as George was. That’s why I’m more inclined to think there will be some kind of connective tissue to the comic, even if it’s not a direct adaptation.
No I agree with this...I mean Filoni will be at the panel and I think he knows at least about the comics
Just gonna put this out there, Odan-Urr is canon. He wrote annotations in one of the Jedi texts that Rey has on Ajan Kloss. His writing looks like Arabic. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Yeah I made a post earlier that was mainly intended to be tongue in cheek but I think with them taking the name and the logo from the comic than this will be more than just CW/OT/ST content. Also given the fact that they are giving it an entire panel they will have put more thought into it than just a way to make more TCW content.
