    We got back a lot.

However, since I'm not allowed to touch money I'm not exactly sure where it all ended up.

Our rebate went toward the hardwood floors we're putting in upstairs... the new parts for my desktop... and a few other things I can't remember... but it went a lot quicker than we thought it would. So as soon as the stimulus money appears in the account (we're DD woo!) I'm writing a check to the daycare for 8 weeks.

Wow... I think you totally missed what my comment was about.

:p If I was married, I'm sure I wouldn't be allowed to have my car, or I'd be forced to have a divorce because of the adulterous relationship I share with the car. I think [face_chicken] understands it, but somehow I doubt she's looking for a satellite. ;)

I got that you were happy that you didn't have to go through someone else for money.

It definitely depends on the relationship.

In our case, Amy was capable at managing her money before we got together, but since i'm so focused on it and take it so seriously, she's happy to let me handle the money. I let her know when I do anything big, but since she assumes I know what i'm doing, she pretty much ignores money stuff when I tell her, so essentially i'm in charge of the money.

It varies from couple to couple.

Courtney is in charge of the money.

I don't want to be, when I have been in the past I start to obsess over it and it starts to drive me crazy. So any real large purchases I run it through Courtney and she will let me know if we have the money of the budget for it. It is not a huge deal and I am glad I don't have to deal with it.

I'm not telling you where the money went, you'd want to spend it. :p

Actually it's going for a down payment on a new vehicle, paid to paint the house, and I'm hoping some will be left over for a patio set and paying toward bills.

    :D

I'm not sure how much we're getting, either the $600, the $1200, or some fraction thereof. If it's the $600 it's probably going into a new speaker system for the home theater. If it's $1200, probably a new King Size pillow top bed.

Somewhere (maybe at the top of this thread) there is a calculator on how much each person will get.

If you make less then X you get Y, I'm sure that is for Senior Citizens (you may be old O_W, but not that old yet :p)

The other is if you made over 75k your amount goes down and that is when the calculator could come in handy.

    Here's the basics on amounts

    Single <$75000 - $600
    Married <$120000 - $1200
    Each dependent child - $300

So yah, if you're single and make more than 75k, or married and combined you make more than 120k then the calculators will be necessary.

Kind of a cool conincidence with the stimulus package is an ofer from one company to sell guns at cost.

I have my eye on a pretty little .40 that I might just get, especially if the check is as much as it looks like we might get.

Obviously, this isn't for everyone, but if you're looking for a firearm, this is a great deal!

hmm.. I just told it is "up to" those amounts, not a flat amount. The media needs to get more consistent in their phrasing...

So the calculator may be necessary anyways.

Yah I ran through the calculator and it came up matching the expected amount.

My friend who told me that is a stay at home mom, she didn't understand why they shouldn't get more for being a single income household, until I explained to her that it was based on what's been paid in already.

The article I saw today said over Mon, Tues, Wed they're doing 800,000 direct deposits, none on Thursday and then 5 million on Friday. The checks are supposed to go out a week earlier than the posted schedule.

I'll probably be in that 5 million... Wait... that makes it sound like only 8.2 million filed with DD... [face_thinking] Are people really that slow to adopt the faster method, or did that many of us really pay out?

That many paid out, and there are a LOT of people who got refunds that do not have a stable bank account to DD into.

Edit: Seems I'm only due $300, but that's OK considering I got just over $1000 in refund this year.
