I think it's due to the delayed nature of the production. Ian passed away more than a year ago. That was before the Disney sale.

I think they should have gotten the "real" Palpatine to come in and do the last few eps if this was known beforehand.

I get the impression that this decision came "out of the blue", or else they wouldn't have been talking about Season 6 (and beyond).

I really want to know when these bonus episodes will be released. With Season 5 ending early, I feel that my Star Wars fix hasn't been satisfied and it sounds like these last few episodes will be really amazing.

Give us Order 66 as it was meant to be: brainwashing, pure and simple!

Give us Palpatine's kidnapping by Grievous, showing us that he deserves those lightsabers that he carries.

Give us a final canon fate for Asajj Ventress

Give us Maul's purpose in Sidious's plan and his final fate in the Clone Wars

Give us the last bit of the Clone Wars and give it to us soon!

I have no reason to know this, but let's say the TCW crew is able to wrap up whatever eps they were working on and maybe get a 3 episode "gimmie" to give it a proper wrap-up finale. Some TV series that get canned in advance are able to wrap up a final episode with a long-enough lead time, 24, Arrested Development, Star Trek Enterprise.

That seems to be referring more to talking with the fans and going to conventions than a hint at an upcoming project IMO.

You can see Rex in that clip btw, he's in the background more or so behind Anakin, further than he usually is though.

You see him the best right after Tup kills the Jedi.

Maybe your right. It just seems suspicious to me the way she tossed that in there after the, "Oh cool new stuff.".

Is it me or does that clip not really hint at any of the storylines with loose ends we've looked forward to? It just seemed random.

I'm renaming this thread with the intention we'll use it like the season 5 spoiler thread to discuss the teasers, all leaked news, and the bonus material. Heads up.

    Order 66?

That's the most important act in the entire conflict.

RE: Trench, I thought it was really cool to have him return as a villain. I really liked him in Cat and Mouse. Those two Jedi had a great design too. It looked like a space battle; I saw Y-Wings fly past. And I'm REALLY glad we got clones vs. droids after such an absence.

Something I feel like we've been missing since Season 2 honestly. Besides Umbara and a few episodes here and there, we've haven't had much clone war action. Hopefully with this final "bonus" content, which I'm gonna just call Season 6 regardless because we all know how far in advance they make them, we get some more action and some insight on the Outer Rim sieges.

It's not really a big loose end in the show IMO. But then I'm not a clones fan.

Trench returning as a cyborg after certain death.. Meh, I guess every villain's doing it thesedays.

Going by the missing scenes from the S5 trailers, the Clovis arc contained a major battle on the surface of Scipio. There was another scene of Rex leading the 501st against a dusky pink sky and (of course) the Mighty Thorn and a handful of shocktroopers on a landing platform surrounded by SBDs.

Between the Clovis and Fives arcs, I suspect that new TCW content will be very cloneful.

As it well should be, considering how we have yet to see any significant planet-based battles between Republic clones and Separatists since Season 4. Surely they have to show more battles during the periods of 20-19 BBY?

The Clovis arc was going to be part of S5. It just got delayed a bit. :p

I'm extremely curious to see which format these bonus episodes take. I was at the season five premiere at Celebration VI and Dave said that they were VERY interested in a theatrical release. However, that was before the Disney news hit and before they made it clear they were focusing on the new trilogy for theatrical releases (that was their reasoning for postponing the 3D re-releases.)

I am almost 100% positive they knew of the upcoming sequels by the time of Celebration VI, Witwer even knew 6 months in advance. Whether or not they were being bought by Disney, no idea.

I doubt they'll have another theatrical release, the last one was pretty bad both critically and commercially, something a Star Wars movie has never had. If we see a movie, it will be a TV movie.

For me the word 'bonus' connotes 'leftovers'. I'm assuming they'll want to minimize cost.

Oh, I know THEY knew about it, haha. I didn't mean they didn't actually know about it, I just meant it was before the plans went public and the new business model was OFFICIALLY in place as far as WE knew. I mean at CVI we saw footage of AOTC in 3D and were told the release dates, etc. when it was "postponed" about a month or two later, those were the kind of later changes I was referring too.

Not really when they're usually around 12-18 months ahead of schedule, most of Season 6 would of been done or in the final stages of things. They were probably working on Season 7(the presumed final season) when word of this came.

Were getting Season 6 but it's not going to be called Season 6.
