    I didn't pick'em doll.;)

But, I listened to a clip of the title track and enjoyed it. There's a stack of Marvin CD's in my cabinet, I probably like What's Going on best. The one with Tammi is nice too.

    Did you see the movie?

No, I haven't seen Trouble Man. But, again, the movie title in a way exemplifies Gaye's lifestyle. He was in trouble with dating another woman while married. The movie was definitely a flop, but the soundtrack was very good.

I'm not familiar with these last two. In fact, I don't even think I've heard of the movies, let alone the soundtracks... bummer. They sound good, though. :)

Jag, are we counting up, counting down, or are they unordered?

I'm giving them in the order Telegraph listed them, but wasn't a number ranking assigned.
Some of the ones listed are new to me too, which is dangeous so far because I keep buying some of the
    tracks.

Love Marvin Gaye. Never heard of the movie, though.
Seems like I'm a bit too young, huh? [face_laugh]

Next up from the Telegraph list:

    Diva
    Vladimir Cosma, 1981
Telegraph writes: ?Cosma's score, for a slick, super-stylish thriller about an opera singer who refuses to be recorded, introduced a new kind of ambient, keyboard-driven cool to soundtracks.?
Diva?s soundtrack won a 1981 Cesar for Best Music Written for a film.

I've not seen the entire film, caught a little of it about a year after it came out and don?t recall being wow?d by it. Normally I would be all over anything like this but for some reason it just seemed - okay. [face_thinking]

Have you guys seen it? What did you think, did you buy it?

    CD tracks:
    1. Aria [From la Wally] - Wilhelmenia Wiggins Fernandez, The London Symphony Orchestra
    2. Sentimental Walk
    3. Dead End
    4. Gorodish
    5. Zen and the Art of Buttering Bread
    6. Ave Maria [#] - Wilhelmenia Wiggins Fernandez,
    7. Aria [From la Wally][Instrumental] - Hubert Varron
    8. Sentimental Walk (#2)
    9. Ground Swell
    10. Metro Police
    11. Abandoned Factory [#]
    12. Priest and the West Indian [#]
    13. Tilery Beneath the Rain [#] - Vladimir Cosma, Wilhelmenia Wiggins Fernandez
    14. Prelude to the Suite in D Minor [#] - Hubert Varron
    15. Dog for Mr. Michel [#]
    16. Bath by the Sea [#]
    17. I Don't Like Elevators [#]
    18. Aria (Reprise) [From la Wally]
    19. Aria [End Titles][*] - Wilhelmenia Wiggins Fernandez, The London Symphony Orchestra

Sorry but I'm out of cookies today....but there's cake if you talk about Diva.[face_mischief]

"Sentimental Walk" is a beautiful song. My favorite. I've never seen the movie but I know of the Soundtrack.
It's more of a classical-ambient soundtrack, I'd say. Really, really nice.

I'm trying to avoid temptation myself! Some of these are surprisingly good.

I was not previously familiar with "Diva" at all, but I really enjoyed the Aria, and Sentimental Walk as well. I'm super curious about "I Don't Like Elevators", but I can't find any videos or clips of it.

"I Don't Like Elevators" caught my eye too! If you find a clip of it let me know. :)

The problem is I have loads of free space on my iPods. Darn it! :p

iPods, plural? Sounds like lots of space! My 6GB mp3 player is so full that I only put my Christmas music on it in December. :p But I digress...

I found this site that has clips of all the songs. The music is quite whimsical with a few opera songs thrown in - I like it! "I Don't Like Elevators" didn't disappoint. :)

Yes, I have three. It just happened that way so I kept them all, two were gifts from my mom. She got me a mini a few years ago and then the video, I had already bought myself a video. It's okay because when I travel I can have twice the movies on them.

Thanks for finding that link! I liked Sentimental Walk and the Aria a lot too! Might just order the CD from Amazon.

The 20th Anniversary soundtrack is on Amazon. Otherwise, I've never heard of anything from this movie or soundtrack; let alone watched it. Sorry. :(

I listened to most of the clips from the link path-seeker found.
    They're really pretty nice.

    Next soundtrack coming soon! [:D]

Okay boys and girls, here is the next on the Telegraph list:

    That Summer!
    Various, Arista, 1979
The cream of Britain's original burst of post-punk chart stars - Ian Dury, Elvis Costello, The Only Ones, The Undertones - plus American interlopers (Patti Smith, Richard Hell) get their hits out.

I haven?t seen it and I don't think I've heard of it. When I looked around for a CD all I could find was a couple of used LP?s. One was selling for $18.00 and the other for 45.00. [face_plain]
Here?s a clip from the movie.

So? Have you seen it? The soundtrack must not suck, right?

I promise that we're going to get back to some you'll recognize soon.

Well, since you guys had soo much to say about "That Summer"[face_plain] we'll just move right on to the next soundtrack on the list!

    The Payback
    James Brown, 1974
Telegraph says: "Brown recorded his first great soundtrack for the gangster street saga Black Caesar. A sequel followed, but the director Larry Cohen rejected Brown's music - because it didn't sound like him. Brown released it as 'The Payback', an epic much-sampled eight-track double album that many regard as the funkiest thing ever recorded."

    Track list:
    1. The Payback
    2. Doing the Best I Can
    3. Take Some ? Leave Some
    4. Shoot Your Shot
    5. Forever Suffering
    6. Time Is Running Out Fast
    7. Stone To The Bone
    8. Mind Power

Talk to me! Seen it or heard the music?

I promise we're going to be back to some you've heard of soon![face_peace]

    I'm afraid not...

...but here's a clip of James Brown performing it in a very odd wig and get-up...

Thanks, Zaz! You are a sweetheart.[:D]

James Brown was a crazy dude and I was amazed he lived to be 73.

I'm not familiar with "The Summer" or "The Payback," but I've never been a huge James Brown fan. "The funkiest thing ever recorded" does sound interesting, though.

    Help!
    The Beatles, 1965
?The Beatles spread their wings, from Lennon's Dylan-influenced You've Got To Hide Your Love Away to McCartney's orchestral manoeuvres for Yesterday. Faultlessly Fab.?

I've never seen this one, but certainly I've heard most of these tracks. The story sounds like it might be silly and fun but the DVD set was going for $109.00.[face_plain] I won't even spring for the CD...

    CD Track list:
    1. Help!
    2. The Night Before
    3. You've Got To Hide Your Love Away
    4. I Need You
    5. Another Girl
    6. You're Going To Lose That Girl
    7. Ticket To Ride
    8. Act Naturally
    9. It's Only Love
    10. You Like Me Too Much
    11. Tell Me What You See
    12. I've Just Seen A Face
    13. Yesterday
    14. Dizzy Miss Lizzie

Surely you guys have something to say about this one? o_O I wasn't kidding about some really good soundtracks coming up soon.

The movie isn't near as good as "A Hard Day's Night", but this is a great album, particularly the iconic "Ticket to Ride".

Goodness, those DVDs seem a bit overpriced. I've heard of this movie, though I've never seen it, and I'm familiar with one or two of the songs. You can't really go wrong with the Beatles, right?
