Games The 100 Day Star Wars Challenge

I've actually only seen a few episodes of The Clone Wars, but my favorite episode that I've seen is either Bombad Jedi or the one where Yoda rescues the shinies.

 

For me there's one arc that not only beats everything else in The Clone Wars, but everything else in Star Wars, period. The Seige of Mandalore / Order 66.

I have never seen anything animated on this level of quality before. The first 6 seasons of TCW already blew me away, but this... I can't compare it to anything, because nothing like this has ever existed. Four 10/10 episodes to end off the show. I couldn't have asked for a better conclusion.

The storytelling was extremely well written. It was full of raw emotion, exciting action, and added so much to the Star Wars saga. The fact that it was written to be taking place at the exact same time as Revenge of the Sith was genius. I'm never going to look at that film ever the same now.

The characters were done to perfection. Ahsoka Tano, Maul and Rex are three of the best characters in the SW universe. And I can now confidently say that out of the hundreds of characters, Ahsoka and Maul have the best character development (Besides maybe Kylo Ren). Ahsoka started off as a character that no one liked all that much, but oh boy did they turn that around. By the time of S7 she was already a fan favourite, and I didn't think it was possible, but I love her even more now. And the same goes for Maul - Bringing him back from the dead was a huge risk, but now I can't imagine the SW universe without him being resurrected. He added so much to this arc, and now I consider him one of the biggest heroes of Order 66. The conflict and eventual team up between him and Ahsoka was so enjoyable to watch. As for Rex, he is easily the greatest Clone Trooper out there. Seeing a tear run down his face after Ahsoka removed him helmet almost broke me.

As for favourite episode... Hmm, definitely one of these four. Probably The Phantom Apprentice.

 

I would have to say the Siege of Mandalore episodes or any of the Darth Maul arcs.I loved Maul in the clone wars and liked how those episodes weren’t focused on the Jedi like most other arcs.I also liked the R2-D2 arc mostly because it was the most unique arc in my opinion and we see R2-D2 have a heroic “death”.

 

By far, my favorite is the Pong Krell arc. Star Wars didn't do enough to delve into the ethics of this war, of the Jedi freely using an enslaved people bred for war. And yet, the way Krell used the Clones as disposable pawns, things to be used and not lives to be valued ... Just because he did it explicitly doesn't mean Yoda and Windu and others weren't doing it implicitly. And so why do we call them hero, but Krell a villain? Wonderful arc, could have used more with similar themes.

Favorite single episode is 3:10 - Heroes on Both Sides. We rarely got to see the good people, the heroes of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, though we were promised them in the opening scroll of Revenge of the Sith. And we see that here, along with seeds for the Republic being failed and somewhat evil, even before it was the Empire. I would love a series that highlighted the heroes of the CIS and showed the war from their point of view, maybe even highlighting a few who became leaders in the Rebellion.

Special shout-out as a runner up to 4:12, Slaves of the Republic, for finally paying off on the "Anakin was a Slave" thing

 

Favorite arc: I don't know what it's called, but the one with the clones finding out about the Order 66 chips.

Ahsoka or rex

 

Gotta go with the obvious answer here - Ahsoka Tano.

There's actually only two characters I like more than her in the SW universe - Han and Obi-Wan. I mean what's not to like about her? She's full of energy and always has a positive attitude, making her such a fun person to be around. Pretty funny too. She's also incredibly brave and talented in many things, like the Force, lightsaber combat and commanding an army. Everyone trusts her with their life for a reason.

I find it amazing that back when The Clone Wars film was released, she wasn't that popular, but as the show went on she started to get more and more popular. Now look at her, she's considered a fan favourite in the entire Star Wars franchise, and has become such an important character. That just shows how amazing the writers and the rest of the team were that were involved in bringing her character to life. And I can't mention Ahsoka without giving a shout out to the wonderful Ashley Eckstein. I cannot imagine Star Wars without Ahsoka.

Honourable mentions to Captain Rex, Cad Bane, and Embo.

Hondo though I enjoyed Ventress and Rex a lot.

 

Ahoska is the answer, but a quick shout-out to my runners-up, Pong Krell and Ninety-Nine

 

Ahsoka. Though Hondo is pretty hilarious.

 

I like Hondo better in Rebels, to be honest.

 

It's probably a tie between Savage Oppress and Satine. Of all the TCW villains, Savage is probably the most tragic. He didn't ever really have a choice in becoming a villain in the first place, and even Maul didn't treat him that well. And I liked the mythic journey he took to search for his brother. I really think Maul's role and deeds in TCW should've just been done by Savage instead of bringing Maul back.

And Satine. I dunno, I just like how classy she is, and this pompous naivety about her, and how weirdly aggressive she is ("Burn it down!") yet she preaches about pacifism. Didn't like them trying to make her "the one" to Obi-Wan though. Him giving up the Jedi Order for romance? Not My Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Anakin Skywalker

He's fantastic on the show. The hero I always hoped Luke and Leia's father would be and more. Anakin has bit of a deadly edge. He's also funny Sometimes deadly funny. His clones love him. Matching him with Ahoska was a genius move for the show. I really like the way Anakin slowly but steadily evolves on the show. He's a fantastic warrior throughout the war. He makes mistakes at times and doesn't always win.

Anakin usually has a kind heart but he'll also kill a bad guy dead no questions. His solution in Voyage of Temptation is classic Anakin. It's also interesting to see some of Darth Vader's personality in the mix.

 

Obi-Wan due to his fun personality in the show which made my favorite prequel character even more likable.He also had some cool story arcs like when he died which made us fans scratch our heads for 3 minutes.Or when we find out he has a love interest.

 

Obi-Wan was amazing as always, and I liked Anakin way, way, way more than in the films. TCW Anakin is the Jedi I wish we saw more of in the prequels. However, my choice goes to Maul.

As I said before, bringing Maul back from the dead is one of the best decisions that's ever been made in Star Wars. It's amazing how a villain with barely any lines or screen time in one film was brought back and developed to be such a complex and important character in the SW universe. And that's all thanks to his revival in TCW.

I already thought the show was amazing, but from the moment he returned at the end of season four, that's when I felt the show took itself to an entirely new level. It got darker and more serious, but a whole lot more epic as well. Then he returned once again in the siege of Mandalore arc, and that gave us Maul at his best. Badass, skilled, powerful, frightening, intelligent, and just such an incredibly fun character to watch. Please keep using him in future content!

 

TCW gave us the Anakin I was hoping for in the Prequels. He was brave. He was conflicted. He had tremendous friendships. He dabbled in his anger and hate, but never to the point of truly using the dark side, but it always seemed like he just needed a push to become Vader, the Vader we knew and loved and feared from the OT.



Honorable Mention to Jar Jar Binks

The Clone Wars showed us sides of Jar Jar that the movies just didn't. Yeah, not every time he was shown - the Bombad Jedi episode isn't all that good. But the Battle of Mon Calamari and the Gungan General really starts to capture a different side of Jar Jar and shows how his love and his loyalty and his dedication all play in a role in who he is ... and how that is useful for the Republic.



Anakin is the best non-original character in TCW for my money, but Jar Jar is the one it most improves.

Seeing him go mad with rage at obi-wan and taking control of mandalore
Really developed this character.

In TPM he's just a cool guy with a double bladed lightsaber, but in TCW he's a revenge driven crime lord who will do anything for revenge
