On it's surface it doesn't seem very "villainous" but considering it comes moments after he has just beat the crap out of Luke and cut of his hand, not to mention the emotional turmoil it has on Luke I think it works.

I've also always liked this one, a lot of it has to do with how beautifully shot this scene is but I also find Vader quite menacing here, even if the line itself doesn't necessarily seem to be on it's own.

I might be biased because I hear it from one of my kids every day, but it's also incredibly memorable, easily quotable, and highly menacing

Too close to call between "I have altered the deal. Pray I do not alter it further." And "I find your lack of faith disturbing."

With "Don't choke on your aspirations." As a runner up.

There’s lots that I use in conversations with my geeky mates, or just say in my head randomly because of how memorable they are. A lot of it comes down to the performance and voice of the actor.

I’ll go with - General Grievous: “Army or not, you must realise, you are doomed!”

I just love the way that line is delivered so much. His menacing robotic voice, with the camera zooming into his sinister eyes. It’s perfect.

    Honourable mentions:
    • Vader: “You don’t know the power of the dark side!”
    • Kylo: “I’ll show you the dark side!”
    • Kylo: “Show me, grandfather. And I will finish.. what you started.”
    • Kylo: “Let the past die. Kill it if you have to.”
    • Maul: “At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge.”

This isn’t even a question for me. In all of fiction, there’s maybe 2 villains I might choose as my favorite villain over Darth Vader.

but probably not. He’s the GOAT

I’ve always liked Thrawn,he’s just such a cool character and really puts in effort to defeat his enemy’s.Hes so much smarter than most of the other villains and he managed to get a high rank in the empire dispute his species. He also manages to always keep his cool (almost) even when he’s losing a fight.

Day 21 - Who is your favourite villain?

    Darth Vader.

He's got a bit of everything. Turns good. He's so bad just to look at. He's so much fun in The Empire Strikes Back just stopping around and choking everyone to death. Has so many great funny lines in Empire. Vader is equally good in the other movies, just Empire is when he's the most off the leash. Thou he's got some great bits in Rogue One. but he's more the cleanup man in that movie with a smaller overall role. I even like Darth Vader when he still looks like Anakin. Haunting the way Hayden takes on the speech patter of Darth Vader as the films plays out. "You will try."

Darth Vader is my favourite vilians. Followed closely by Palpatine and General Grivous.

I love how much fun Grivous has and how cowardly he is. Grvious is a real live to a fight another day sort of villain. He's not even worried about dishonor or sort of hangups like that. Grievous is a fight only with the wind blowing your way sort of villian.

    Kylo Ren

Loved everything about him. He had my favourite character arc in the entire saga. A cool costume and helmet. Lots of memorable dialogue. Plus Adam Driver gave an amazing performance.

He wasn’t your typical villain. Instead of being completely menacing with no weaknesses, he was broken and constantly had to fight off the light side. There’s very few villains in cinema that have this much depth and show this much emotion.

Grievous would be my second choice, because of how cool and entertaining he is to watch.

Grievous and Vader are my seconds mostly because Grievous showing his four arms was one of the most badass moments in the prequels and Vader is just so cool to watch and has a nice character arc.

    Thrawn or Maul

I've liked both of those villains since i've been able to read.

Thrawn is a cool calculating blue guy with red eyes and Maul is a tatooed revenge driven guy with horns.

Both have great stories and play their parts very well.

Hmmmm I would say the scene where Obi Wan tells Luke a out his past and he finds the Lars homestead burned which prompts him to leave with Obi Wan.I just thought it was interesting how his life instantly went from really boring to really important.

Incredibly difficult to choose this one. The final trench run, the twin suns, the gunner seats...so many great scenes. But I'll go with:

Trapped Luke and Leia fighting off the stormtroopers and swinging across the chasm to freedom. The force twins together and the triumphant fanfare of the SW main theme. Goosebumps. It amazed me as a kid and never gets old.

I've always loved to watch the Death Star escape. It's thrilling, it's funny, and there's so much great banter between Luke, Leia and Han.

If I had to narrow it down to a particular moment in the escape, it'd be when Han charges the stormtroopers and then runs into a room full of them.

THE ATTACK ON THE TANTIVE IV

I've loved this scene for as long as i can remember. The moment where Vader steps through the doorway and nudges a dead rebel will always be chilling.

All in all it's a great action paced way to start a movie.

It's time for another bizarre Inty answer ...

For me, it's this little moment here:

It's this meta moment. He's talking specifically to Leia. But, in the wider context of the saga, he's talking to the Galaxy at large. He's talking to the audience. He's talking to his father, unbeknownst, somewhere on that very base.

He's setting the stage for the rest of the OT. By the time it's done, he'll have rescued not just Leia, but the entire rebellion (and that's just this movie). He'll rescue Han. He'll rescue his father.

And it all traces back to this one declaration.

(I should point out that I haven't researched the original trilogy since Rise of Skywalker took a sledgehammer to Return of the Jedi's emotional worth, so no idea if this still holds up)
