After shaking his head in disgust over Sabine and Reva’s miraculous recoveries Ghost Qui-gon finally nods with respect for Master Indara’s humble knife-to-the-chest death scene.

I'm the one who said 90s TV, by the way, and I think that's deliberate. The sets look...setty.

Also, if anything, the show is over-lit and not the other way around. Too little contrast and no deep shadows.

    But I'm enjoying it anyway.

I really enjoyed the program. Firstly, I thought the Jedi being presented as they were - with some following a more spiritual path and others becoming attached to politics - cemented what George Lucas attempted to reveal with the prequels; that the Jedi had lost their way. We see some of that here and this fits with George’s vision.
That is, the Jedi aren’t ‘evil’, but they are definitely flawed.

I found Master Sol to be reminiscent of Qui Gon Jinn in that he appears much wiser than any of his on screen counterparts.

Yord brings some lightheartedness to the screen without compromising his authenticity as a character.

Qimir is hiding something. He snapped out of a drunken state very quickly, displayed a wisdom that belies his station and age and knew far too much about Sith and Jedi lore to be a ‘smuggler’. His cadence and syntax (I am a linguistic expert in my day job) is identical to the ‘Master’ we see at the end of Ep1, and I am inclined to think they are one in the same. Cemented by the fact that he outmatched Mae rather quickly without relying on the force. Remember: deception is a Sith Lords tool. Do not trust your eyes: they can deceive you!

I am hooked. I am looking forward to seeing this through to its conclusion. It has its mysteries but there appears to be pay-offs in each episode.

My family moved from Belfast to England when I was 5, and at that age I had a pronounced Irish accent even though my parents didn’t (as they weren’t Irish). I then went to a private school at 11 years of age, and after 6 years at that school I came out with the same accent as everyone else in my school… which is essentially known as Received Pronunciation. It was my schooling that changed my accent.

    Gave it a generous 7/10

To be honest, I'd already had low expectations for this show. I haven't really been so overly enthusiastic with most of the live action shows; the dialogue seems forced at times and the stories seem contrived.

It was interesting that they started off with the scroll/not scroll screen to set up the story's background. We get the antagonist right away; she's looking to kill a particular Jedi who just happens to be Carrie-Ann Moss. Moss was on the screen for no more than 10 minutes; so much for her fanfare. Too bad Neo wasn't there to save her ;)

And then we see the one that is the...protagonist(?) on a Trade Federation ship. Oh Neimoidians, how I missed you (not). She's on a ship with another mechanic helping out with some issue on the outside of the ship when it miraculously catches fire in space without oxygen.

On Coruscant we see the Squid Game guy for the first time; I'm assuming he'll be a mainstay throughout this series. He takes his Padawan along to "arrest" Osha on the ship; but we next see her along with other prisoners on a ship conveniently piloted by droids only. Then her ship crashes, and it's eventually revealed that she's got a twin sister. That was pretty much obvious; unless you were lead to believe that Osha was under some drug-induced hallucination when she went after the Jedi.

Exciting, well-done opening fight scene. Reminded me of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Very surprising conclusion to that fight.
Interesting characters such as Yord. He seems very earnest, by-the-book, yet dare-I-say a tad clueless.
Very interested to find out what caused Mae to want revenge on the four specific Jedi.

This was the first time since the premiere of the Mandalorian back in 2019 that I didn’t watch an episode on my phone. I watched it on my computer so much better.

I found this enjoyable enough to give it a decent grade.

I'm pleased to be away from established characters - character shields are not on my mind which is a good thing.

Sol was the best character by far. Something about him just works.

I liked Yord too. I hope he is not the continual butt of the joke, but he reminds me of young Obi Wan.

Carrie Anne Moss was nothing. Like why bother. And what a poor way to give the villain a kill. At least say the blade was poisoned or something.

I am not fond of either Twin with the same hair cut. I'm hoping for something deeper there.

Things I hated. Sithling waving it's red lightsaber for no reason. "Jedi only ignite their lightsabers willing to kill" - yeah, ok then. "Fight me" - cringe...... Bad writing at times in this show at times.

One tiny little nitpick. When was it decided that all alien extras need to sound like total morons? Like stereotypical pirates or orcs? “Har har har,” “Raar!” “That’s herrr! She killed the Jedi and rruined my barr! Raaar!” The aliens in Solo and TLJ tended to all sound like that too. I wish they’d just go back to mostly alien languages with subtitles, ala Greedo, Jabba, etc.
