Yeah, I think there’s a storytelling reason for it. They want to make it clear to the audience that it’s an uncharted planet that the Jedi have no idea about (hence they are also surprised by the effects of this cortosis metal). Not indicating “unknown planet,” and just cutting to the location, doesn’t tell the audience that. Then Headland probably didn’t want to waste time including that fact as exposition. So we get text telling us that it’s not known to anyone. Except for Qimir.

    Weird.....

My understanding was that lightsabers are essentially short-range, concentrated beams of light?
I'm aware that going into scientific details is a lost cause when it comes to SW, but now even that vague intuition I had about how lightsaber works is gone.

I can't say I was happy with it.

Why are you Borsplaining me what we all just saw on screen ?

    :p
And more important: finally we understand why people couldn't find Luke there using the Force in TLJ. The planet is full of cortosis=P~=P~

I'm sure its been mentioned but it seems pretty obvious Qimir was Venestra's padawan.

Huh? I know we all saw it. I'm just saying there must be a storytelling reason why they made a point of it.

Why are you 3sm1ring me right now, bro? :)

No it's not mentioned at all. But it's the only option that makes sense in the mistery riddled show, isn't it ?

I find it a bit odd that Vernestra has said “Something to tip the scales” twice now. Makes me think that she was once told that line a long time ago and that we will see a flashback to that sentence being said to her. It feels like something she’s had rambling around her mind a long time.

I also can’t yet see how anything that’s going on is meaningful enough to “tip the scales.” Some dead Jedi, yes. Maybe a developing dark side master and apprentice relationship in bloom that could develop sexually. But none of that feels significant enough to tip the scales from the place of power the Jedi are in.

I still wonder if the witches knowledge was set into the minds of the twins during the ceremony and that Quimir is using them to eventually take that knowledge and bring it to his own master. That would feel more significant because it’s clear the witches have had a knowledge of the force that’s different than the Sith and if combined with the Sith could help tip the scales. Especially the ability to manipulate rhe Midichlorians to create life.

Yes, 6/8 of the way through and we have not been show much of anything that makes this a direct prequel which sets up the Prequels. Nothing Qimir has been shown to say or do is causing instability to the Republic Senate or causing fracture to the foundation of the Jedi Order.

The Senate seems to have some outside reason for auditing the Order already in place and the Jedi may very well end this on a note of thinking one of their own went off script and killed some of his fellow Jedi. But the Sith's role in any of this is almost coincidental.

I feel like we're just half way through a season's worth of story. Like there should be another 6 episodes ahead of us, instead of just 2. lol..

This episode was fine I thought. It's like coming down after the high of last week but!!! It's too short. I don't think this should been attached to last weeks episode as last week had a perfect cliffhanger.

From episode 4 I have actually been fine with the show but this is clearly created as a movie that's been chopped up in too many small bits Unfortunately.

I watched episodes 1-5 in a single sitting at the weekend, and it worked so much better than 30 minute a week drops... not perfect, but much better.

The twins seem to both have loyalty issues. Neither seem to know what side they are on.

I think "something to tip the scales" is a Jedi scandal. And I've been thinking that's probably how the season will end.

Either the Republic and the Jedi's enemies learn about what happened on Brendok, or Venestra is somehow able to cover things up for now -- but this information may threaten to explode at any time in the future.

But this episode made clear that the Republic still has a good impression of the Jedi, and if anything negative were to come out, there are enemies and politicians ready to pounce.

I think I officially hate this show now. This episode could've been an email. I wanted to throw something at the TV when Sol told Mae, "I have something to tell you" and then didn't tell her anything because the spaceship finished rebooting. I absolutely knew that was going to happen and I was still annoyed by it just like I was annoyed that later Sol, AGAIN told Mae that he was going to confess everything, (for real this time), but that confession will have to wait until the next episode. Jesus, just get it over with.

Ugh, and every time the show decided to give Bazil screen time I kept thinking, "THIS is what they're choosing to spend their time on in this episode? Are you kidding me?" It was clear to me from all the Bazil screen time that they were including that they were just trying to run out the clock so that Sol wouldn't make his big confession until next episode. My god! Yes, I know that Bazil was seemingly there to let Sol know that it was Mae onboard and not Osha, but ugh, it was too much.

Lastly, Osha putting on the mask and breathing heavily like Darth Vader. For the love of god this show can't get away from the Skywalker family. Also, as soon as it was explained how the helmet worked it was a forgone conclusion that we were going to get helmet breathing scene. So dumb. I'm also so very tired of Osha and Mae flipflopping their motivations and allegiances practically every episode. Much more Mae than Osha, but still, enough with the flipflopping.

Oh one more thing, the "unknown planet". Why? Why show us Ahch-To or a planet that looks exactly Ahch-To and call it "unknown planet?" I hate it.

I think Qimir is taking the “seduced by the Dark Side” thing a bit literally.

Dude was just letting it all hang out there right in front of Osha.

While I do understand the inference that Vernestra might have been Qimir’s Jedi Master…
And I also feel like Headland telegraphed Qimir as Mae’s master and then made good on it-
I read Qimir saying “I was a Jedi, a long time ago” [paraphrase] differently than others as I was in the moment watching it live …
I heard it as a history lesson. In the far flung distant past. Whenever the Sith exactly were born. THAT is when “he” = the original Sith that have passed on their legacy all the way down to this day were once Jedi. Not that he himself was once a Jedi.
“I” = “Darth First Fallen Jedi”

Kind of like Sidious saying “I am the Sith” or Rey being ALL the Jedi

    How is this an email?

There was some great Sith philosophy discussion going on. Finally some real Dark sider sith “training” even.

It’s like saying ESB shoulda been an email because all that Luke and Yoda stuff was boring and unnecessary.

I think I agree with everyone else here. The Qimir/Osha stuff is cool but the rest is just okay. I’m starting to wonder if Qimir is way older than he seems… Either way, I no longer think he’s a Ren. I think the Kylo theme in the last episode was just to highlight how he and Osha have a similar dynamic to Kylo and Rey. I’m still putting my money on him being Plagueis. I like the theory of Vern being his former master. If he really is much older than she seems, then it would make sense, since she’s also like 100+, and according to the books, she also dabbled with the dark side a bit when she was young.
