You can certainly sign up in the Fall since that will probably be when The Mandalorian comes out. And Disney+ will probably have all the Clone Wars seasons, Marvel content, and other Disney content (if you're interested in any of that).

I think Ahsoka and Jyn are better role models than Rey in TLJ. Ahsoka was one of the main reasons that many of my characters in my novel fight with two magical swords I gotta say that I like Ashley's voice for Ahsoka in all iterations. I really wish that they had made Rebels into the Ahsoka show. I look forward to seeing what they'll do with her character for the remainder of TCW, not to mention her fight with Maul. It will be hard to top her stories in Season 5. I liked her story with the Wookiees and how she prevented Anakin from killing someone. Ahsoka definitely has more in common with Obi-Wan than Anakin, but she's a true Jedi, no matter what she says. Love her.

 

Be careful as you're likely to get pushback from quite a handful of people here. While many were indeed excited when she was revealed as Fulcrum; others were resistant in the assumption that she'd take over the new show.

 

Eh, I like Rebels overall. Just not as much as TCW.

BTW, according to this https://www.cnet.com/news/disney-plus-every-show-and-movie-that-will-or-may-be-available-to-stream/ , TCW is a "Year One" release (while Mandalorian is an "Available on Launch")

So no need for me to rush to subscribe the first day. Avoid the rush and let them get the early bugs out.

 

Yeah that was my sentiment. Honestly I'm not as enthralled about Mandalorian as I am about the new TCW episodes; so I figure I'll subscribe when TCW is available and then after watching them all through I'll watch an episode or two of Mandalorian and see if I like it.

 

If you ask me, Ahsoka is far better than Rey because she was built up, her backstory was shown. It's no good doing what they did in the Sequel Trilogy IMHO, where they obviously wanted a strong female character, but then didn't put in the work to build her up. She was just an ultra-prodigy from the get go, which ended up with people getting put off the character and calling her a Mary Sue.

With Ahsoka they put in the background and built her up, as a result she's one of the strongest female characters in all of SW, and also one of the most beloved.

It's like Arya Stark from GoT. Starting off as a little girl of 11, fiesty and tomboyish but still a little girl with all the vulnerabilities inherrent in being a little girl - but then they show her journey across 8 seasons and about a decade of time, both in-show and in reality. Thus when it gets to this season, and lo and behold

she gets to shank the Night King to death

it's believable. It doesn't strain credulity that she would be the one to do that. Nobody called her a Mary Sue over it. That's a well developed strong female character. They showed everything that she went through, everything that transformed her from that vulnerable 11yo girl into an 18yo stealthy and lethal killer. They put in the work.

Likewise, LFL put in the work with Ahsoka... but with Rey, it was just "here's this girl, and she's completely awesome and ultra powerful" and people were like, wut?

That was awesome! I didn't realize Dave Filoni got into the "Ahsoka Lives!" photo. I never saw Ashley's parents before. I'm surprised her husband David didn't go to Celebration with her (unless he's the one doing the filming?)

 

David Eckstein was there. You can see him sitting next to Ashley during the signing (minute 4:11). And then he's walking with her to the Ahsoka Lives photo shoot. (4:26).

 

Nice! I think that's so awesome of him to be wearing the same "Tano" shirt that she's wearing from the Her Universe collection. He's a real trooper.

 

On this day one year ago, Ahsoka's Tano got a special celebrity's autograph. Yes, I like them APPLES.

Cute AND weird, since she clearly doesn't have fangs..

 

The more I think of this, the more I am glad Ahsoka lived past Return of the Jedi.
