If Bo is 20-25, and the mandalorian civil war happenned 20 years before the clone wars, Bo Katan would be baby or small child.

Seems like the Armorer is the most qualified at the moment to wield the darksaber. Fully understands its history. After that training session she would have no issues winning it in battle against Din. He doesn’t really seem too keen on ruling Mandalore anyway. Paz can hardly lift it. Bo Katan had her chance and lost it. Sabine just gave it away.

The Armourer would be the worst for it and would bring back the old Mandalorians with neo crusaders and all. The ones who The Republic and jedi feared in the okd Republic. The best candidates are Din, Sabine, Bo katan.

Grogu would be better choices than Din, Sabine and Bo-Katan. That speakers volumes.

Which is why I specified “at the moment” regarding the Armorer. There are no outstanding candidates available during the current timeline.

Sure there is, Sabine and Din are there more likley for the momment. Both can help improve Mandalore. Sabine didnt want the darksaber yet because she wasent ready and still a teenager

Ever since Grogu was accepted as a foundling, I thought he would be the next Tarre Vizsla. A Mando Jedi who will lead Mandalore into a new golden age.

At this moment, Din has shown no interest in ruling Mandalore. Sabine explained to Bo Katan in Rebels why she didn’t want to the responsibility.

And a good 900 years Golden age if he is able. Maybe with Gogu as Mandalorian/Jedi. A new jedi Mandalorian age
Din id the athurian legend like Luke Skywalker who rejects the hero's journey, but later comes to accept it. And Sabine was not ready for the responsibility, but after finding Ezra. Sabine might be, both Fenn Rau and Bo Katan believes Sabine could one day rule Mandalore and that she could be the best of them like the past Mandalorians.

I actually could see the Armorer simply not wanting to be the Mandalore, and thus just never feeling the desire to challenge for the blade - and potentially understanding on some level (possibly from mythology and oral tradition) that only someone who wants it and wants it in the right way can effectively use it.

Pre had dozens of loyal followers in his exile who never challenged his authority - likely signs they didn't actually want to lead, but to be led, or that even in a warrior society, many people are going to feel discretion is the better part of valor when it comes to the literal challenges of leadership.

Din, of course, is likely to go through some version of the "reluctant leader" trope - which could hilariously read as the Armorer thinking "Well, sucks to be you."

Going back to her testifying about her order being "cloistered" on Concordia, this could likely mean that they were already in Coverts, and either simply hidden and active in silently living their Creed during the New Mandalorians' rise and conflict with the Death Watch (being the known warriors that Almec thought had died out there), or that they potentially formed afterwards. The former option would potentially make them a fascinating, hidden subculture of mainline Mandalorians hundreds and even thousands of years old, while the latter interpretation could make them a true reactionary group appearing and depriving Mandalorian clans of manpower at a crucial period.

I would love it if we had Bo Katan and the armorer voice arguments about a potential split in the ranks against the Empire and what caused it. It seems like the Empire simply overwhelmed Mandalore quickly and brutally, which is likely a sign of Bo Katan picking the wrong kind of fight with them, but Bo might have a point if there was a period where they were doing decently before some minor defeat became a route when traditionalists like the Armorer might have bowed out thinking the cause was cursed.

I wonder what part both Sabine Wren and Boba Fett will play on the Mandalore arc. Both were in a way discarded from Mandalorian society. And both stayed oit of the conflict. Both are proven warriors and leaders.

Yeah. The Armorer is clearly the archetypal sage/ oracle. Whatever her hero’s journey might have been earlier in her life, it’s essentially at its end. She’s not striving for temporal power. She’s imparting wisdom.

That’s because the Armorer believes “the creed” is a way of life and survival. The wisdom that she believes is necessary to the survival of what Mandalore culture and truths she holds close. To her credit the Tribe (even though now much smaller) has survived following the creeds mythology

Well yeah because they hid like cowards in the gutter. Bo and her people didn't hid and they are doing fine, Armorer's sect didn't join the rest of Mandalrians againt the empire, i wonder how many more refused to fight and if all had fought they might have pushed back the imperials.

Bo seems to be under the impression that the curse of the darksaber is in fact a real thing, otherwise she would have had no qualms with receiving it back from Din. So even she's become superstitious in the wake of her tragic rule.
The curse is new lore - we just assumed that other Mandalorians would not respect a claim to the throne using the darksaber if the owner did not win it in combat, seeing as Mandos are a dramatic people who respect strength. We never knew anything about a legendary curse that doomed Mandalorian society as a collective if a person claims the Mandalorian throne without winning the blade in combat.

I don't know if Bo herself is truly superstitious about the darksaber; she might simply feel like the political reality of the superstition in others means she can't afford to sidestep or ignore it a second time. Similarly, it's possible that the superstition itself has only really surged back into prominence given Mandalore's fate under her leadership... thus the newness of the lore resembles other national traditions and beliefs that can wax, wane, emerge, and disappear depending on current events, politics, and outcomes.

If the Armorer really does represent a recent cult or a resurgence of an almost dead tradition from before The Clone Wars, it would be a very important contextualization for both the Great Purge and Din's mission going forwards - the Armorer and the COTW know how to survive the Great Purge, but not how to revive and thrive Mandalorian culture, while Bo Katan has the drive to fight and push for the progress of the people, but not how to truly unite them.

Considering the Mandalorians STOLE the dark saber from the Jedi Temple, I think it might end up that Din ends up, after various events, giving it back to the Jedi. He already has the connection through Grogu. The Dark Saber at this point if anything is one more obstacle keeping the remaining Mandalorians from uniting or finding common ground, because someone is always going to have to "win the Dark Saber in battle" which automatically makes them leader in most Mandalorians minds and it's potentially keeping people who would be better leaders from actually leading. Either that, or destroying it.

I do think they are building up to Grogu having something to do with the future of Mandalore.

It's fascinating how now we can contrast Pre, Fenn, The Armorer and Paz's views of the Darksaber, even though its likely the result of improvisation from Lucas wanting Pre to have a non-vibroblade weapon rather than Filoni planning this out a decade ago.

Pre doesn't say anything about Tarre, his own ancestor and clan founder, building the blade, and doesn't even seem to treat it as anything more than a weapon. He's busy bragging about it being stolen from the Jedi, implying his anti-Jedi nationalism is overriding even a point of familial pride, while Maul is actually the first to even obliquely hint at the Darksaber's legacy ("With this sword...").

Fenn treats it as an honored relic with political power, and restates the legend of Tarre as a cool bit of history, implying the Vizsla family stole the saber back (possibly as a family heirloom they felt the Jedi were needlessly keeping locked away - highlighting the loyalty vs detachment difference between the Order and the Clans.) Still, he seems to have a more secular view of it as regalia and a political precedent for leadership, possibly contributing to why no one in the re-formed Mandalorian Resistance under Bo-Katan (including Clans Wren, Kast, Vizsla, Rook, Eldar, and the Protectors) felt the need to have the Darksaber won in combat against Sabine.

Paz is really the first Mando to know the full legend, believe in it, and then challenge in a very ceremonial style for it, and he's definitely more proud of Tarre than Pre was.

At this point, while I know the Armorer's exposition is likely half-delivered simply because of the production process... I'd almost like it if we revealed she's intentionally choosing not to fully educate and inform everyone, possibly out of some pseudo-anti-intellectualism towards alternative views of being a Mando and other religions and POVs in the Galaxy as a whole.
