Parry Farrell is a manchild. He was a better person when he was a junkie. Now he's just a mean drunk.
but did you know his name is supposed to be a play on the word "peripheral"? that blew my mind when i learned it after like 30 years.
I attended a show by BEAT yesterday in Napa, CA. BEAT is basically '80s King Crimson, but guitarist Robert Fripp and drummer Bill Bruford have both retired, so BEAT has Steve Vai filling in for Fripp, and Danny Carey (of the band Tool) filling in for Bruford. It was an excellent show.
Saw Galactic Empire (metal Star Wars cover band) the other night, supported by two video game metal bands, Powerglove and Super MadNES. Solid stuff.
As expected, Jane’s just canceled the rest of their tour and the band is now on indefinite hiatus (in other words: it’s over). Wonder what’s gonna happen to the new music they were working on. A new single was supposed to come out this week.
Yeah, and the other three members all posted statements basically blaming it on Farrell and his mental health. Pretty awkward. But in that video, it does seem clear that he's the one instigating the on-stage drama.
Another POV of the Navarro/Farrell thing. This is leading up to the punch. Navarro appears to be the instigator... I don't know. Gen X, or something. Edit: Oh wait.... the fight happens during Ocean Size, and this is Mountain Song. So yeah, dunno... looks like there was tension, in general, before the punch.
Yeah, the single still came out today as expected. Now we just gotta see if the full album still comes out or not. They haven’t clarified yet if the album is even finished or not, but if it isn’t, I suppose Perry can just finish his parts separately from all the other members.
Another new Linkin Park song: I like it! Also, rumor has it that they’re gonna be playing in Paris this November. They seem to be doing the Jack White thing of announcing shows in small handfuls at a time, shortly before they’re scheduled to happen.
Foo Fighters had one more show they were scheduled to play since the announcement of Grohl’s infidelity, but they just canceled it. Starting to think the band is over. More audio of Jane’s Addiction fighting backstage after the Boston incident has also leaked online now. Turns out Perry punched Dave a second time that night. Pretty sure that band is over for real now too. At least Linkin Park and Oasis are back. A soul for a soul, I guess. Oasis is announcing their American shows on Monday. Can’t wait!
Sting and Billy Joel last night in St. Louis (rescheduled from Friday). It was an absolutely amazing concert - both still sound great. Billy played for almost 2 and a half hours and I could have stayed longer.....though getting up for work this morning was rough.
Went to the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park on Saturday. My feet still feel swampy wet from standing in muddy wet grass for 6 hours.
