Bacon Bits from the bottle is a very expensive snack.

I make my own bacon bits; it's cheaper and easy. Take a lean pound of raw bacon. Slice across into itty bitty pieces; put in frying pan or pot, let it cook down to crispy, not quite into burn stage, remove from heat, ladle out carefully with metal spatula onto sheets to paper towels to drain grease, or pour through a metal colander or sieve to drain grease. Let cool.

 

I like most bacon bits. It really depends on what form they come in. Most are tasty.

I prefer Bacos over real bacon bits. Bacos are bacon-flavored textured vegetable protein totally devoid of monosodium glutamate. Perfect for the struggling vegetarian who craves pork.

People at Country Buffet sometimes look at me funny when I go to the salad bar, without a sald, but with my dinner (usually 2 chicken legs, some fish, a roll, and maybe this stuff that looks odd but is very tasty), where I get a few scoops of bacon bits and plop them down on my plate.
