Full Series The Bad Batch Season 2 Discussion (Spoilers Allowed)

I hope Season 2 takes place in 18 BBY. It would be nice to get a little time jump at the beginning of the season, or midway through.
In Season 2, we might get stormtrooper armor closer to how it is during Rebels and the Original Trilogy. I know there were stormtroopers in the Ahsoka novel (18 BBY), but it might've been ambiguous how their armor looks. It might've looked like how it does in Season 1 of The Bad Batch.

 

Me too. In any form really, though I would be especially excited for more animated series.

Personally I hope they stick with TK troopers for a while. It would be a waist to design something like that just to immediately discard it.

I also in general like getting a more in-between Clone Wars/Empire era with V-Wings and imperial venators and the like - and frankly I strongly disliked how a lot of other media tries to go into ot stuff right away. (I love a lot about Fallen Order, but they really sinned here - I mean, we don't see any interceptors until Endor, but sure just stick one five years after ROTS why not *grumble grumble*). I hope we also get more new designs unique to the era - we have a lot of ot and clones, dark times should have its own look.

Plus I just like the way they looked.

(And yeah, I am reading Ahoska right now, and I am definitely picturing the stormtroopers in that like in Bad Batch)

I think a prequel with Obi-wan and Satine during a Mandalorian Civil war would be fire. I also think it's reasonably possible to happen. Would love it to be animated but since Liam Neeson has expressed some interest in returning to his role as Qui-gon I dare them to come up with a better way to use him.

I am hoping for a slight time skip so we can spend a little less time on this odd slice of life thing The Bad Batch has going where they are total n00bs trying to figure out how the Galaxy works but I don't want Storm Troopers to appear like the throw of a switch. Certainly retiring the clone troopers and falling out from blowing up their homeworld still has some mileage on it. I think it would also fubar the potential for Crosshair's arc if they did that. I don't know precisely where Crosshair is going after season one but it's weak if he goes straight back to Rampart only to find full-blown stormtroopers there. He may get thrown straight out for failure or never go back to the empire. But if he goes back I want a better story than actual storm troopers just arrived and that's it.

And good points in the second. What I hope for is getting increasingly mixed units of clones and volunteers - and we did see the tks be lead by commandos in their first appearance. It can even be a subtle thing where the ratio of cts to tks shifts over time, starting with still mostly clone forces with a small group of rookiee stormtroopers to mostly stormtrooper units with only a handful of clone veterans by the end of the series.

Maybe have some mixed equipment too. Early AT-ATs leading AT-TEs. Gunships escorting landing craft.
In particular, I would love it if the tie fighter gets introduced as a big deal, some cutting edge fighter that gets everyone worried, compared to what a flying coffin it is later.

But as for what the bad batch are up to...eh, the show was pitched as them being a mercenary team and I don't mind seeing more of that, particularly since I am always down for some world building. Besides, what really is the alternative? The rebel alliance doesn't even get founded for a while and they can hardly fight the war effort by themselves. (Also I get the feeling Duran was introduced for a reason)

 

There is no doubt in my mind CF99 is going to fall deep into the underground and "Infested" is going to turn out to be an important episode in the long run. Durant will likely be a reoccurring villain. It's only a matter of time until Maul pops up, IMO. They might as well work for him because the colors match and there is no way the Batchers can realistically go up against him. It would be interesting to see how Rex reacts to that.

....though the Bad Batch's moral compass makes it hard to picture taking too many jobs for Maul...still could be interesting to see though, particularly if Maul is smart enough to give them non-objectionable missions and targets at first (between rival crime lords and the Empire, he has plenty...)

Maybe it could be played as the Batchers come to Maul and he manipulates them. If we really are going to do something where shady stuff is going on with cloning force sensitives it sounds cool to explore the topic with non users. However I think eventually they'd have to talk to an expert. Maul is one of a few people available for consulting. He would probably take his own stakes in this. Yeah they'll probably take the easy way and introduce a force sensative OC or pull some one like Quinlan or even Barriss out of nowhere. That 6th ranger slot is open on the team with out Crosshair unless AZ is the 6th ranger. Or use it as an excuse to put Ahsoka in.

 

The Pykes will have a larger role with re-introduction of Black Sun and Crimson Dawn. I think Dryden Vos is who the Bad Batch will deal with while Maul is behind the scenes. Love to see return of the great Hutt council and Jabba.

Season 2 of the Bad Batch will be about them making a stand against the Empire. And that means dealing with the criminal syndicates for support in everyway possible.

I like the TK trooper design quite a bit but it doesn’t work for me as an evolutionary step between Clone Troopers and OT Stormtroopers. There are design elements in the Clone Trooper helmet that are present in the Stormtrooper helmet which are not in the TK helmet.

Maybe the show runners don’t feel that way. But I’m wondering if this is on purpose and the experimental CK design isn’t adopted by the wider empire. So Stormtrooper helmets evolve from a different evolution of the Clone Helmet that isn’t the CK.

 

That's definitely a possibility.

They’re not going to stream the panel evidently, so I suspect they’ll preview the first ep of the season or something. Hopefully they at least release a trailer online though.

 

Honestly anything will be good. There is still so much you can do with this show.

 

For Kenobi, The Star Wars opening thing they use at the start of shows has Hunter's helmet in it as the second one after R2. I didn't see it in Mando Season 2 or Boba Fett. I'm taking that as a sign.

My guess is we get a release date (or at least a ballpark, like Tales of the Jedi has) and a teaser trailer.
