Star Wars fans are the most complaining people on the planet. I don't mean to be rude or anything like that, but if some of you people hate CGI so much, you might as well live in the wilds somewhere because computer graphics aren't going anywhere. There are plenty of models used in the prequels. Sometimes you can't tell if you are looking at a model or a computer generated object, and that is great in my book.

The Coruscant battle will rock if they show the capital ships fighting like they did in the teaser. That was the only thing really lacking from the Endor battle.

All in all this is what STAR WARS is all about the space battles this will be fantastic to see it on the big screen i wish that lucas like peter jackson did with RETURN OF THE KING is to re-relase the previous 2 movies at the cinama's that would be very good if he does that next year just before ep3 is released that would be awesome if he did that.

has anyone thought about the fact that the rots battle might be completely different than any other we have seen? i mean, in every other sw film the battle is at the end of the movie (the action climax) right along side of an emotional climax (well... that's what it's supposedto be). in rots, isn't the battle the opening to the film?

yeah, i think it'll be bigger and messier than rotj but it won't mean nearly as much because it will lack any sort of character drama. the sepratists and republic peeps are fighting in a huge mess of polited figters, driod fighters, buzz driods (wt*?!), star destroyer like things, capital ships, control ships, etc. not to mention grevious-

all in all i belive it'll only be an excessive amount of eye candy in order to make up for the lack of emotional drama that the entire prequil trilogy has lacked (so far). but good eye candy at that...

in other words, i don't know and i guess we'll find out. i think that's how every topic ends up, i swear.

Not wading through this, just chucking in my two cents.

Yes, this space battle is George's (supposed) last time to do it. It will be the biggest yet. It's also formula for a Star Wars film to try to top anything we have previously seen.

The Rebel Alliance is going to look even more like a shoe-string operation by comparison - which it was. That is why the Emperor has a hard time taking it seriously... until the name Luke Skywalker comes into prominence.

Courscant will dominate, not only because of the special effects...but its a galactic civil war, its a much greater scale then just the remaining rebels vs. the empire. It's like comparing the civil war to the war today.

    First off,
What makes all of the episodes battles so glorious is the diversity of what is transpiring. One battle here, while something is happening elsewhere. In ROTJ, the battle is emensely long with 3 seperate things happening at once creating debth and substance. That, coupled with the most powerful scene of Vader watching his son die and changing the course of the entire war by turning sides, all the while emotions stirring with John Williams genious, and you have an unbeatable montage.
    In short, ROTJ, reigns supreme.
(You have to think about how it FELT at the time. ROTJ in 1983 with groundbreaking effects and a milestone in movie history, or ROTS in 2005 with effects which don't seem difficult anymore, and probably nothing we haven't seen before.

The Bablon 5 comparisons are laughable... my god. It's like you'll just say anything to bash.... there's no thought, nothing.

    It's litterally laughable.

    In sheer volume? Yes.

In action? Yes. It won't be interrupted by the throne room or Endor (ground)

    In sophistication? Yes.

And you guys have been literally brainwashed by Lucasfilm to think that anything they produce is perfect.

I think the CG argument is pointless to discuss. The teaser trailer was released at the beginning of November, meaning it was compiled from footage finished by ILM up until that point (let's say mid-October). From November on, they still have six months of special effects work to do.

I just can't see why people argue that "everything looks fake" when the product isn't even close to being finished.

It's really neat that the [supposedly...and likely] biggest space battle in the entire saga is at the beginning of the movie, but does anyone know if there will be another near the end, happening in between the duels or something?

EDIT: has this been recently discussed? If so, so so sorry. But where do I find this...

    hmmm....

The space battle will rock. It is going to be the Pearl Harbor of starfights.

You will have what are essentially aircraft carriers fighting alongside (and against) jets. We will see dozens of pilots get cut down, probably hundreds including the background. In fact in one shot alone you see a large cluster of clones come spilling out of a hole in a ship and go tumbling off into space. Sweet!

George is a liberal and he is pretty openly frustrated with what is going on in the world today, and this is going to be his anti-war scene. It will not be as triumphant as ROTJ, but it will be twice as exciting. I think it will be ending on a elancholy note, as if winnign the battle doesn't mean anything to the larger goal.

Basically though I believe the Battle or Coruscant will be like Normandy or something, with the difference being that we do not linger on the deaths of the charcters because frighteningly, they are clones, and are expendable (another statement about how easily some people can overlook the costs of war). So it will be gigantic, thrilling, visceral, and a little morose, but not depressing.

I think ROTJ will always be more about the final triumph, but physically speaking and in terms of excitement, Battle of Coruscant will blow doors off of ROTJ.
