Unless I'm mistaken, Kasan originated in Rogue Squadron.

You're right, Rogue Ten. I don't think my son has played the game all the way through so I need to get with him and see what he knows or can find out.

I'll have to pop in RS later on to see if there's any other details I can pick up.

Been awhile since I've played it anyways (I could never get past that frelling snow level where you have to protect the AT-PT's- they kept getting destroyed- arg!)

Oh, that level is nothing! The hard level is the Sullust level. That level always kicks my Tammuz-Un.

I had to cheat in order to get past the Sullest level, I'm not proud of it, but I was desperate. I spent about 7 hours trying to get past it...

Is there anything in the Rogue Squadron comics that would hint at another pilot/gunner at Hoth?

Well, I suppose I should return to finish the challenge, since I'm more or less done with Rogue Leader (I can live without earning the Endurance level) and need something to hold me over till RS3 [face_batting]

(well, at least, beyond the mountain of backlogged games I've been meaning to finish, like Metroid Prime and Fusion, Mario Sunshine, Zelda, Master Quest, Eternal Darkness 2nd and 3rd runthroughs, Conker, Starfighter, GTA3 and GTA-VC...) [face_batting]

EDIT- I can't confirm anything from the RS comics since I haven't read them yet (though I do own them all, I was just waiting till I finnaly acquired Requiem for a Rogue, and now they're on my to-read list after I finish rereading TTT, DE and read XW:IR and XW:SOA.).

    >Rogue 10- Tarrin Datch*
    >Rogue 11- Tenk Lenso*

These two came from West End Games' old Galaxy Guide 3 to The Empire Strikes Back. A pilot named Tarrin also appears on Hoth in the ESB Radio Drama.

I put together a list of who flew with the Rogues a while back. If you're all good, I'll be back once I see if its still around...

The list appeared online, along with a list of all the other known Rogue pilots. A lot of it was just guessed at and made up. :)

With the help of some of other folks, I came up with this list. A while back, Jeff Boivin came up with a number of shot down speeders using the movie, the novel and the radio drama. I noticed that according to the novelization, there were twelve speeders at Hoth. Since the Rogues' usually have no more than 12 members, it's easy to jump to the conclusion that some of the pilots and/or gunners were last minute or temporary additions to the squadron when the Empire showed up.

So, here's my list, with some explanations... Much of it is speculation, and isn't official by any means. I've tried to fill in the missing pilots with Rogues from various sources. This list could be contradicted at any time. In fact, there's a new Hoth pilot mentioned in the newer card games. I've yet to figure out where to put him.

Commander Luke Skywalker (Rogue Leader) (human male from Tatooine)
Dack Ralter (Luke's gunner) (human male from Kalist IV) KIA

    - Obviously, right from ESB.

Zev Senesca (Rogue Two) (human male from Kestic Station) KIA ESB
    ? (Zev's gunner) KIA

    - Zev's gunner has never been identified, but since the speeder exploded, it's a safe bet he didn't survive.

Capt. Wedge Antilles (Rogue Three) (human male from Corellia) ESB
Wes Janson (Wedge's gunner) (human male from Taanab) ESB

    - Right from ESB

Derek "Hobbie" Klivian (Rogue Four) (human male from Ralltiir) ESB
Kesin Ommis (Hobbie's gunner) (human male from Coruscant) CCG

    - We know Hobbie was there. Ommis was a gunner in the Decipher card game. He was seen standing next to Hobbie in ESB, so I figured he could be his gunner. In an early draft of ESB, Hobbie crashed his speeder in the "head" of Veers' AT-AT, and he died in the explosion. This was changed in the film, though later books do mention he was shot down at Hoth.

Tycho Celchu (Rogue Five) (human male from Alderaan) XWRS
    ? (Tycho's gunner)

    - The X-Wing books tell us Tycho was at Hoth. His gunner is unknown.

Samoc Farr (Rogue Six) (human female) TBH
Lt. Tarn Mison (Samoc's gunner) CCG

    - Samoc is mentioned as a pilot in Tales of the Bounty Hunters. Her speeder was shot down, but she survived. Mison is just a gunner from the Decipher cards, which mentioned he was stationed at Hoth. I just randomly picked him to be Samoc's gunner.

Keir Santage (Rogue Seven) (human male) CCG
    ? (Santage's gunner)

    - Santage is named as a member of RS who flew at Endor, according to the Decipher cards. His number is just randomly chosen, and his appearance at Hoth is a guess.

Zev Kabir (Rogue Eight) (human male) KIA SWK
    ? (Kabir's gunner) KIA

    - This other Zev and his number was in a Star Wars Kids magazine, alongside some word puzzle or game, I believe. Since he's barely a character, I picked him as one of the destroyed speeders.

Lt. Kasan Moor (Rogue Nine) (human female from Alderaan) RS
Liam Thorben (Moor's gunner) (human male) MC

    - Moor is one of the starring characters in the first RS computer game. I just guessed that she'd still be with them at Hoth. Thorben is a Marvel Rogue who I just used here to fill in a blank space.

Tarrin Datch (Rogue Ten) (human male) GG3
    Barlon Hightower (Tarrin's gunner) MC

    - Datch is mentioned in West End Games' old Galaxy Guide 3, along with his number. A pilot named Tarrin appeared in the Radio Drama. Like the other Marvel pilot above, Hightower is used to fill up a spot on the roster.

Tenk Lenso (Rogue Eleven) (human male)KIA GG3
    ? (Lenso's gunner) KIA

    - Tenk is from the West End Games Galaxy Guide 3. To be honest, I don't remember if his death was speculation or actually mentioned somewhere.

Dash Rendar (Rogue Twelve) (human male from Corellia) SOTE

    - Rendar was one of the pilots at Hoth according to Shadows of the Empire. He didn't seem to have a gunner in the game. I made him number 12 since he was a last minut

One should of course remember that Supremacy states that Major Freja Covell, later commanding general of the ground forces for Grand Admiral Thrawn, was second in command to General Maximilian Veers at the Battle of Hoth.

The Hoth Limited Expansion Set to the Decipher customisable card game describes BLIZZARD TWO as having been commanded by "the treacherous General Nevar, before he was assassinated". The fact that Major Covell was second in command suggests that General Nevar was assassinated prior to the Battle.

Yeah, I suspect Nevar was killed prior to Hoth as well.

And JMM- thank you! Some good speculation and new info/sources, mucho appeciation ::)

I was just watching ESB...in fact I'm watching the Battle for Hoth right now, and I noticed something.

From my understanding, Hobbie is Rogue 2 during the battle. When Luke first flies into combat, he asks if Hobbie was still with him. Then later one, he says I'm going in or something to that effect to Rogue 2. In which the camera shifts to Hobbie and he replies and then Hobbie gets hit, with Luke imitating him moments later.

That's Zev Senesca. We never actually see Hobbie on-camera in the cockpit of a snowspeeder during the battle. We only see him in the mission briefing beforehand. While Luke mentions Hobbie's name during the battle, the pilot you're thinking of is Zev (he even refers to himself as "Rogue Two" on no less than two occasions, including when he's scouting out along the North Ridge and comes across Luke and Han in the snowdrifts after Han saves Luke).

So the pilot with a nosebleeding is Zev?

Hmmm, perhaps I'm just hearing things. I am tired.

So who was Luke's default wingman? Was it Hobbie, Wedge or Zev? It seems like all three of them were flying with him during the battle.

I don't know that they had "wingmen" per se, but simply took flight groups and went out and killed stuff. I think Zev was flying with Luke, but after he got shot down, Wedge started flying with Luke.

And yes, the guy with the nosebleed was Zev Senesca.

a while ago i made a list of the rogues at hoth... just found it - while not as complete as some of the other lists, it doesn't have any callsign speculation -

at the Battle of hoth -
rogue One (rogue Leader) - Luke Skywalker, Dack Ralter
rogue Two - Zev Senesca, gunner unknown
rogue Three - Wedge Antilles, Wes Janson
rogue Four - Derek 'Hobbie' Klivian, gunner unknown -- served as Luke's wingman at hoth.
    rogue Eight - Zev Kabir

    callsign unknown - Dash Rendar
callsign unknown - Samoc Farr (Toryn Farr's sister)

also served at the battle of hoth (most likely flying snowspeeders)

    Tycho Celchu
    Bror Jace
    Kasan Moor

We have a new T-47 Rogue Squadron pilot to add to the list, who appears in the Jedi Knights TCG: Nala Hetsime.

I'd wager he would take Keir Santage's place on the above list, since it seems like Keir's inclusion on that list was just speculation based on his appearance at Endor.

    [image=http://www.decipher.com/jediknights/cardlists/mastersoftheforce/images/12nalahetsimet47pilot.jpg]

BTW- has anyone figured out how Dash could fire the tow cable on a T-47 with enough precision to tag a walker's leg without a gunner?

Wait a minute. If this Nala Hetsime was in the Jedi TCG, then is he himself a Jedi? So this would add another candiate for potential Jedi post-Endor, and do you know if he was KIA at Hoth?

The game was called Jedi Knights (to distinguish it from the Episode 1-themed Young Jedi game and original SW:CCG game), but not every character was a Jedi- this particular character was not.

    Ah, I see.

It would be nice if the CCG would list him as DoA. I must say the CG looks excellent on that card. :)

Dash is a superb pilot? When you are good, you are good. Perhaps, he is slightly force sensative, which enabled him to make the shot?

Decipher did some excellent CGI for the Jedi Knights series (every image was CG for that game)- check out the cardlists on decipher's website.

Leto II's new icon of the DS1 blasting Alderaan is from that series too- it's actually what inspired me to browse the card images on Decipher's site, which is when I came across this new pilot ::)

And, I'm not questioning Dash's piloting skills, but it doesn't seem to me that firing the tow-cable gun on a T-47 would be physically possible without someone actually manning the gunner seat.

Not only does the gun seemed to be operated manually, but even if there were some kind of remote-firing accessible by the pilot (which I don't think there is- which is why Luke couldn't fire a shot off after Dack got fried), I can't see it being fired from behind with enough accuracy even by a skilled elite pilot.

Browsing through the ESB RD I see that Tarrin is apparently flying the transport Luke and Wedge escort out, so assuming it's the same as Tarrin Datch (and I don't see any reason to think otherwise), Tarrin did survive.

Also, Rogue Six was the first to get shot down from what I can tell, and there's at least 2 other "background" Rogues shot down + one "smoker" (who may or may not have been shot down).

Is it possible that Leebo was in the gunner position?

Course that would kind of explain something, ;), Dash shot down one(leaning over the seat to push the tow cable controls cause he was impatient, and wanted to knock one down himself, or he was technically adept and electronically binded the controls to his control panel somehow), and his gunner shot down the other(as the game showed), :D. Dash could only take credit for one of them, :).

Course its kind of interesting how all the controls were electronically binded to my keyboard, and Joystick, ;). I must have superb piloting skills being capable of doing both, :D.

According to the PC cinema scene, Leebo was offloading supplies from the Outrider while Dash was flying.

Reviewing the early battle and seeing how it corresponds to the Rogue 6 comment in the RD, I'm assuming the first speeder shot down in the film was Rogue 6, and it's also the only one we see shot down (besides Luke) where it looks like the pilot could survive, so I'm gonna designate Farr as R6.

    Rogue Squadron:
    Speeder | Pilot | Gunner

Rogue 1- Luke Skywalker, Dack Ralter (shot down, Luke survives)
Rogue 2- Zev Senesca, Unnamed (shot down, no survivors)
Rogue 3- Wedge Antilles, Wes Janson
Rogue 4- Derek "Hobbie" Klivian, Kesin Ommis (presumably) (crashes, Hobbie survives)
    Rogue 5- Tycho Celchu, Unnamed
Rogue 6- Samoc Farr, Unnamed (Shot down, Samoc survives)
    Rogue 7- Nala Hetsime, Unnamed
    Rogue 8- Zev Kabir, Unnamed
Rogue 9- Kasan Moor, Unnamed (presumably)
Rogue 10- Tarrin Datch, Unnamed (shot down by scout walkers, Tarrin survives, flies a transport out)
    Rogue 11-Tank Lenso, Unnamed
Rogue 12- Dash Rendar, Unnamed or None Present

    Blizzard Force:
    Walker | Commander

Blizzard 1- General Veers (Destroyed by Rogue 4)
    Blizzard 2- General Nevar
Blizzard 3- Unknown (Presumably Destroyed by Rogue 1)
Blizzard 4- Unknown (Destroyed by Rogue 3)
Blizzard 5- Unknown (Presumably Destroyed by Rogue 12)
    Blizzard Scout 1- Lieutenant Arnet
    Blizzard Scout 2- Unnamed
